To say that China has never been the aggressor. It’s like me, saying Nazi Germany was never the aggressor back in World War II, or Japan was never the aggressor when attacking Pearl Harbor. I highly recommend watching some more documentaries. Perhaps Daniel change your mind about China not being a “aggressor”

Whenever China sneezes, the world shakes Napoleon Bonaparte might be right.
US is in same position Japan was prior to Pearl Harbor. Japan was economically and financially dependent on the US. It made zero sense to attack a nation that made your survival possible. China and petro dollar makes US survival possible. Petro dollar and Chinese purchase of US debt gives US money to buy Chinese manufacturing products and China supplies them. If any piece of the puzzle is removed the US economy fails. The US cant recreate manufacturing overnight and the owners of capital are not willing to pay Americans wages to do those jobs.
The US is in a vulnerable economic position even as it continues to try to contain China. Its economy seems to be healthy but only because the Fed is printing hundreds of billions of dollars to pump into the economy each month.

Niall should not compare US vs China to US vs Soviet Union. US and Soviet Unions were very different, while China is a lot more like US in all the ways that are most important. For example, China's economic strength is rooted in the same sources of what have made America strong: market economy, entrepreneurship, innovation, trade, and competition. In fact, China started its ascend by learning from and continues to learn from the best of the west. The only difference is that China has 4 times the size with 4 times the potential room to develop. For US to try to defeat China like it did Soviet Union, it will not be like Obi-wan Kenobi trying to defeat Darth Vader, but more like Obi-wan Kenobi trying to defeat Luke the Skywalker, when Luke the Skywalker is younger and has 4 times the Midi-chlorian counts.

    * Ray Dalio is indeed a brilliant investor, but some of his perspectives on the US and China may be misleading. In his book, he highlights the uncontrollable money printing in the US but fails to acknowledge that China, despite having a smaller economy, has created money at a rate four times higher in the same period. Dalio emphasizes the US's substantial debt increase, with public debt rising from 35% in 1980 to 130% today, and total debt nearing 300%. However, he overlooks that China has a total estimated (opaque disclosure) debt of 700%. If the concern is about collapse, China would theoretically face this issue long before the US.
    * Another critical aspect is that the majority of global trade and borrowing occurs in USD or Eurodollars, not Euros. When the US prints money, the negative impact is dispersed globally. In contrast, when China prints money, the effects are confined to its borders. In discussing the challenges in the US, Dalio points to political disagreements, riots, and criminal activities, acknowledging the nation's increasing complexity compared to the 50s and 60s. Yet, China is a totalitarian state with a single political party, devoid of opposition to voice countermeasures. The advanced technology used for citizen monitoring and the swift legal process are significant factors he fails to mention.
    * Dalio's omission of these critical points raises questions about the motivations behind his narrative. It seems unlikely that such a savvy individual would make absent-minded mistakes, especially in a book. The question arises: Why would one of the most significant and intelligent fund managers propagate potentially inaccurate information about his own country's decline, given that it could adversely impact his business, affecting all his investors?
