I feel like this quad was all about connections. Like D-Salto + B jump + Back Handspring, stuff like that. Gymnasts took advantage of the Code, but we stopped seeing many F & G skills
I no it might seem weird bit to me Shawn has been my favorite on beam just because no one else made that confident thumping sound especially during her Arabian!!
@@demonsalwayswin I think the reason she resonated so much was she was so dang good(like I said that this sound she makes was the first time I had heard that on beam) and she wasn't what a "normal" beam specialist looked like to me. Everyone always wanted the waif thin girls and Shawn just looked healthy
@@cindygr8ce I think being thin and doing artistic gymnastics is a bit suspicious. Some of the gymnast are really thin and have body that suits more a rhythmic gymnast and they have this elegant style, but taking into consideration how much effort and strength you have to put to your body to learn all of the stuff, you body adapts accordingly and logically should look muscular and strong. Shawn has kinda the same body type as Simone and style as well and I really like this type of artistic gymnastics.
Hi can you make a video about the new compositional changes with the new code of points?? Like the no turns from the same family can be in the same routine, etc. thanks!
Lay out full is my favorite. It’s sad that the development of harder and harder acrobatic skills on balance beam when we exclude mounts and dismounts has stopped many years ago. I’m looking forward to see if we see Memmel do the piked Arabian and gets it named after her. I also saw in one of her TH-cam videos practice a back full step out. That would be so nice to see. Otherwise we need someone to create something new. Back with 1 1/2 twists? Front with full twists? It must be possible! I hope someone surprises us soon!
Hey I was wondering if you could please do an edit to this possible uneven bars routine with its difficulty value? I think it would look pretty interesting and i would greatly appreciate it! // = break in sequence + = connections Uneven Bars (UB): Piked Arabian Mount (G) // Ono (E) + Healy (E) + Ono 1/2 (E) + Geinger with Full Twist (G) + Bhardwaj (E) + Seitz (E) + Pak (D) + Van Leeuwen (E) // Double-Double Layout a.k.a The Ray as the dismount ***The first three turns following the mount can be found already connected in Nastia Liukin’s UB routine; The Seitz (E) + Pak (D) + Van Leeuwen (E) can be found on a version of Aly Mustafina’s 2013 bars I believe, although her version separates the sequence between the Pak (D) + Van Leeuwen (E) with a Stalder Circle (C).
I loved the back tuck full and the Arabian! The lay out full is extremely difficult. But it's a beauty to behold. I hate seeing good balance beam elements go! Beam was not ever my favorite, but I worked dang hard not to be scared and freak myself out! My favorites are bars and floor! But, alas, I'm an older woman now, married with children. Lol! I can still do it in my dreams though! ❤
All of these are underrated in my book, that’s why they are so seldomly performed. At least one letter up, all of them! And adjust the mounts and dismounts as well, for god’s sake!
@@bagelized yeah see switched it out for two leaps instead. I imagine she did it for her dismount since it will add to her score, but I miss her old beam routine. If she kept the front with a half in, her score may be a bit higher than it currently is
The tuck half performed like Sui Lu is no considered a free round off in the code and only rated E not F. To get the F rating you have to jump forward and turn into a back somersault
Many gymnasts have trained crazy skills in a pit and such. Typically they never competed them because they couldn't really do them on a regular surface or they were just to inconsistent to compete them
@@albertitomoon5002 that's what I assumed but didn't necessarily get that "combination" part. with that being said, I don't think it would be possible to land it. the amount of strength, precision would have to be insane. not. to mention an impeccable form... don't get me. wrong, I'm not staying it would be impossible from a purely technical point of view(gymnasts were landing double tucks basically on carpets 40 years ago), but from theory to practice is a long way, and I don't think anyone could do it
@@hannahwalmer1124 gymnasts such as Comaneci or Kim used to do double backs on floor in the late 70s/early 80s when the floor was basically a carpet on the ground, so from a physical standpoint it is not impossible to gain enough momentum to push yourself in the air for a double tuck(two bhs would be most likely enough for a double tuck), even on hard and not springy beam. but realistically speaking, it would be incredibly difficult to execute.
Was this element ever submitted by her? Or is it because it belongs to the same family but with a different body position? (Which does not make any sense)
I’m still stumped….can anyone clearly explain the difference in a Barani vs Grigoras vs Rudi? I’ve asked multiple people in multiple forums, and I can never get a clear answer.
Grigoras has the half turn at the end of the salto, Barani has the half turn kind of in the middle/throughout the entire salto, and a rudi is 1 1/2 twists instead of just 1/2.
@@branbear0430 Duh..I knew Rudi..guess my brain forgot. I guess I get confused on Beam where a Barani or Grigoras is an “F” but a “free aerial from two feet” (aka Chellsie’s piked “aerial”) is an “E”. What differentiates the two skill grades? 🤷🏻♀️
@@Crystal81Starr tbh I get confused by that as well😅my best guess is that with chellsies, it’s rated only E because you can see the beam for most if not all of the salto, while in the other two you can’t see it for a little bit bc the flip and twist are more differentiated if that makes sense? I’m really not sure though lol
Barani is a half turn to back tuck and the Grigoras is a front tuck to half turn. Basically the diff is just in the timing of the half turn. The turn comes at the beginning in the Barani and at the end in the Grigoras. Although both skills are valued the same in this quad.
I miss all these twisting saltos in this quad. Gymnasts didn't really do them anymore. Gabby Douglas used to do such a beautiful standing full.

Barani’s don’t start from both feet at the same time. Barani’s are aerial round offs, so it starts off as a cartwheel and ends with both feet.
