This is a very nice documentation. The rain. The beginning of collecting water. The impact on the animal world. The start of the flood water. In the end the traces of the flood water. In the whole video the beautiful landscape pictures with the typical plant world of the desert. Very nicely filmed.
Excellent video! I grew up in Arizona seeing this and knowing about flash floods and yet I'm still amazed at people who continue to camp or recreate in low wash areas especially during monsoon season.
Beautiful photos with the green colors of the desert plants that have just been "refreshed" by the rain. Excellent video. Thanks for making it and posting.
At the start of "The Secret Knowledge of Water" Craig Childs says "There are two ways to die in the desert: Thirst and Drowning." The desert is incredible and it's such a dynamic place that has floods written into it's very bones. Thank you for such an incredible video!
+Ritercrazy +Ritercrazy thank you just happened to be in the right place at the right time.. Even more awesome that I caught water starting over a dry water fall at the end.
Great job of capturing all the little elements involved. I’ve been in two minor ones. They happen quickly in a desert environment near hills and mountains. We rode motorcycles when I was young. My Dad taught me things to observe.
It looked like a beautiful garden, with the water as paths. You can see where the plants grow on the higher parts, even though there isn't a lot of rain, it still defines the places which are and aren't good for plants.
+CrocDoc1 Thank you was thinking of making a re-edit with just the streams and rain no text. Intrested in hearing what people liked about it so I can improve this channel
I'm not a film pro or anything, but I thought your text blended in fine and was not distracting. When people try to be too cool and insert music into a beautiful video, like yours here, is when they self-destruct. Anyway, well done!
Paul Norman Ok so less music. Text at the right times ok. But find ways to add natural sounds to the nature stuff. Im by know means a pro. so any ideas help!!!
Spectacular documentation of the birth and lifespan of a desert flash flood! Lucky catches of an event that affected many in SoCal and AZ over the 18th and 19th. I was near Wickenburg for the floods on the 18th.
AZTrainGranny I was, lucky to be their at the right time. I knew the area well. I knew how long it had rained, more importantly I had a way out and a view down flood. Living in the desert we see these dry waterfalls all over the place. It's cool to see one with water over it, and even better to see it as it happen. I don't recommend people try this as I did because people do die from this silent killer ever year. Many times it happens miles away from any rain. Thank you for your post!
The desert is one of a few places where water disappears back into the earth and does not join a bigger stream. this video is about one hour or two of time. total dry earth next day.
Where were you? You had to be north of Ocotillo somewhere, Jojoba Wash or Moretero? Great video though, wish I had been out there. I have a place in Canebrake but no rain there.
I was traped in a small valley when it hit. I didn't know the rain was coming. The water in Carrizo Creak moves towards the hwy, the way out. I stayed on the mountain sides of the creek and I know the area well, where the water falls are and the high ground also how much rain hand fallen. I had my truck to stay ahead of it, left it on high ground and always had an excape plan in mind. flash floors are dangerous and should be treated as such. I always asume the worst seanario and plan accordingly and if less then I'm covered. Plan for the unexpected.
@@RandomEndeavors Always good advice. Happy to hear you are cautious. Coming from New England I had trouble grasping just what a Flash Flood was like. After seeing some doozies on TH-cam however .. I finally understood... WOW .. They are killers for sure. Yup.... Always respect flash flood warnings.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video, so beautiful and peaceful to watch, and when checking the description I was so surprised that this was in Ocotillo. I was hoping to get your permission to use some of this footage for an educational video the Imperial Valley Desert Museum, located in Ocotillo, is producing. Thank you so much again.
Thank you for the video, it is beautifully done. I wonder how many storms have eroded the rocks to the rounded edges they have now? I have subscribed to your channel.
Hi there! Sorry to chase this but I'm a researcher on an engineering series for the Science Channel. Would you be happy if we used your incredible footage for one of our stories in return for a mention in our final credits? Thank you! x
+John Edwards I know what you mean I remember my dad having a computer that was 64 bits now they have sd chips the size of your pinky nail that can hold 128 gigs that will work in smart phones.....someone also told me that the reason we now have quad core and 8 core computers is because data is sent per electron and they need the extra cores channel lines to send more data. because we have maxed out what can be sent through a core channel to be prosssed.
I can tell that's a clean area. some times these washes will set for years before they run in this ones case not a cigarette but not a beer can that some asshole decided they did not need .... nothing its looks almost pristine. nice vid by the way.
Pity there's no contour swales or dams to hold and store the rain water, a series of dams might reduce flash flooding and restore moisture into the ground.
“Have they not seen how We drive water to the dry land that has no vegetation, and therewith bring forth crops providing food for their cattle and themselves? Will they not then see?” (Qurān, 33:27)
Few things more satisfying than watching desert rain.
There is nothing like the smell of rain in the desert, very distinctive. I love it.
What a beautiful landscape and plants. Really enjoyed watching it. Thanks for posting!
The desert has it's own unique drama and beauty. Wonderful video.
I’m glad that as a young man I had the chance to grow up in the desert areas of California. So many cool things to see and explore.
OMG !!! That's the most beautiful and HUGE garden ever !!
This is a very nice documentation. The rain. The beginning of collecting water. The impact on the animal world. The start of the flood water. In the end the traces of the flood water. In the whole video the beautiful landscape pictures with the typical plant world of the desert. Very nicely filmed.

Excellent video! I grew up in Arizona seeing this and knowing about flash floods and yet I'm still amazed at people who continue to camp or recreate in low wash areas especially during monsoon season.
and thats how we roll in the desert! Good job capturing that!
Beautiful photos with the green colors of the desert plants that have just been "refreshed" by the rain.
Excellent video.

This was Very well-produced.
Very nicely captured video. Most beautifull thing I saw today.

I needed to watch this video. I miss the desert rain.
We're missing these in Arizona. It's almost mid July and so far monsoons a no show.
One of the prettiest floods I've ever seen. Great shooting and editing.
+Ritercrazy +Ritercrazy thank you just happened to be in the right place at the right time.. Even more awesome that I caught water starting over a dry water fall at the end.
Fyterfrogs Endeavor Welcome. Yes, the waterfall was captivating.
+Ritercrazy 😁
Beautiful little documentary. The cacti are especially lovely. Thanks for sharing and stay safe out there.
Great job of capturing all the little elements involved.

Really great video, nothing more beautiful than a storm in the desert.
saltpan8005 Thanks
A beautiful desert too imo
It is a video of rainfall and later water flowing down the rocks. Where was the "storm in the desert" part?
Qué bello lugar. Wow 🤗. saludos desde Puerto Rico 🇵🇷💋❤️.Nice vídeo 👍.
So well done with the desert colors and the sound of rushing water. i wish we had computer smellovision too.
Thank you!

Amazing how it turned into a small river so fast!! Great video btw
Great video. That's a fairly rare site even for those who have spent a lot of time in that area. Beautiful.
Jeff Jones Thank you
Great job Kelly
Nice video. I got some good shots of the floods over my way from these monsoons this year.
Jason Huckeba thanks will have to check them out
Outstanding camera work--seemed professionally done much of the time. Beautiful colors and the gentle sounds (beginning at 1:11) were relaxing.

ExcEllent! "a silent killer approaches" - no kidding/ looks harmless at first right/ thanks for making this film, you really show us how it happens
potatothorn Thank you I was lucky to be there at the right time.

Muito interessantes as cenas de chuva no deserto. Parabéns!
Muy bueno! Felicitaciones!
+Friedrich ¡Gracias!
This video is excellent. I appreciate it. How much rainfall?
Where in ocotillo is that it's beautiful!
Does the flood eventually just sink back into the earth or does it actually have a river destination that it reaches?
The desert is one of a few places where water disappears back into the earth and does not join a bigger stream. this video is about one hour or two of time. total dry earth next day.
Fyterfrogs Endeavor
amazing - i'd love to see that.
If it rains long enough, -days- the destination for this water is the Salton Sea.
Where were you? You had to be north of Ocotillo somewhere, Jojoba Wash or Moretero? Great video though, wish I had been out there. I have a place in Canebrake but no rain there.
powaybob45 I was near Nomirage, CA thanks for watching
Bonita paisagem.

Where was this filmed

Neste mundo não existe nada mais lindo, mais maravilhoso, mais abençoado que uma chuva. Gratidão Natureza.
Muito obrigado pelo seu comentário. a chuva dá energia a tudo.
So were you running from one spot to another ahead of the water?

Such flash, very flood, wow.
Awesome video quality. What kind of camera and settings did you use? I would love for any of mine to be this sharp.
+John Edwards this was on a Samsung S 4 cell phone and edited on a Samsung tab S
+Fyterfrogs Endeavor That really blows me away to learn that a cell phone can take that level of quality.

superb
Every time I see one of these flash floods I have to wonder, where all that water ends up. LOL
In the desert 2hrs later its kike nothing happened..back into the soil...and extremely humidity with @ 100° temperature
nice
+Victoria Gamboni thanks!

RAIN, in a desert?
Strange to see an actual little running stream between cacti.
Was very beautiful.
