Hi, I'm planning use LR on my iPhone 11. I wonder if you know how to copy and pasted caption info in the Metadata window. At the moment I have to write each individual title/caption for each picture. Do you know how to copy the info to use on every picture in the set? I think the layout of LR on the iPhone is different to on the iPad. Thanks in advance.
Just found your video at the right time as I'm preparing for a longer trip next week and don't want to bring my MacBook. I also like editing on the iPad mini but always found the workflow syncing to Lightroom Classic where the pictures will live after the trip really unreliable and kind of complicated. Happy to see you do it in the same way as I did in the past and just deal with the pros & cons of this method :) Really nice video and explanation!
Thanks Alex really appreciate it! I really wish the CC/Classic were a bit more seamless (or somehow just have one app for all). Perhaps in the future 🤞🏼 It’s really freeing just tracking with the iPad - I hope you enjoy and have a great trip 🌍
Question. So do you delete the original files you imported from the SD card after it's been uploaded to the cloud so it will free up space? Then when you toggle the store locally on lr mobile, it takes the images from cloud and stores it within Lightroom mobile locally correct? That way, the locally stored image on Lightroom mobile really has nothing to do with the original files imported from the Lightroom mobile. After complete your LR editing, you'd flip the store locally option back to no so it releases all the stored images within LR mobile. Did I understand it correctly?
Okay, too much fun! I got LR to load onto my iPad 10th gen, opened up a pic I had on the iPad, and played around a bit. Not the same as working on my monster pc with the 27" calibrated monitor but now I have something bigger to show a model on location than the back of my Nikon camera. Now, I just have to figure out that whole Cloud sync thingy so all my devices talk to each other:)) I mostly use my iPad as a "portfolio" to show people my work rather than tell them an Instagram account and watch them look at pics on their little phones.
This is awesome. Such a cool way to utilise it. It definitely has its place in a workflow. I hope you can get the cloud sync all working ok for you. I have had to work a bit over the years to get it there. But working pretty seamlessly now.... Thanks so much for watching. Haha - and lol always good to remember how most people actually end up viewing our images ;)
So refreshing listening to you, I use Lightroom mobile all the time but learnt from you today about putting photos straight into folders from your card imports. Thanks
I’m really enjoying your channel. Love your easy , minimalist approach to photography . I also use Lightroom on the iPad with a pencil and love it . I’ve not looked into using Lightroom as storage and organising my photos so found your info interesting, might have to look into that. Out of interest which version of Lightroom do you use on your MAC? Would like to see a video of your Lightroom editing, always nice to see others tips and tricks. Keep up your great work👍
Many thanks Steven, really appreciate the support 🙌🏻 I have both CC and classic on my Mac. It is a bit of a 'trick' to work them both into the workflow. Historically I used 'collections' in classic to effectively create synced folders which would create albums in CC. Mostly now I use CC 90% of the time. But I have my NAS rooted through Classic so still use it to archive etc. Hope that made some sort of sense 🤪 I'll definitely have a think about some editing tips too. Its definitely got me thinking about how much actually goes into the process. Glad you re enjoying the iPad & pencil set-up too 😄
This was a great video and very informative as I am very confused as to editing and do I do it on computer or IPad and how to use LR mobile so thanks 🙏 please keep making these videos as you definitely make things easier to understand. Thank you 🙏
You’re very welcome, thank you for watching and super glad it was helpful. It can be a bit of a a mindfield at first but the more you do it does become easier 😄
Thanks for your upbeat and insightful video. I am considering moving to the cloud based versionI have not worked out how to ensure that I can access my photos organized in Lightroom Classic. Any tips for me ?
Thanks for watching, and dropping a comment 🙌🏼 Access between the two is a little ‘quirky’. The only real way (that I can work out) is to create synced collections in LR Classic. These should appear in LR CC. I hope this helps.
Thanks for checking out the video 🙌🏼 As far as I can tell the ‘traditional’ way of creating a virtual copy doesn’t appear to be an option. However, I think it’s been replaced by ‘Versions’. Which is really handy as you can create multiple, name them and switch between. So really the same thing. You’ll see a little clock icon with a backward arrow in the top menu when you’re on the selected photos. From here you can add new version and switch between… I hope this helps 😄
A really nice video Hannah with some helpful tips. I also use Lightroom mobile on a 1TB iPad Pro and am seriously thinking about getting a Creative Cloud 1TB account but my MacBook laptop top is about 5-6 years old and I’m not sure that I could run Lightroom on it, so in two minds.
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed the video. Mmm… tricky one. I’ve been running one of the new Apple chips on my MBP for a few years now so not sure on the older set-ups. Mmm…
(Lightroom mobile premium)
Ah interesting. I haven't noticed myself (yet).... However, I have started to notice some lag using LR desktop but I do suspect it is more to do with my internet connection and things trying to upload etc.
Thank you-this was very helpful. The one thing that is keeping me from an iPad workflow is the ability to merge bracketed HDR photos on the iPad. Am I correct that Lightroom Mobile still can't handle this? Much of my photography includes merging bracketed HDR drone photos, so I guess I'm still stuck on the desktop version.
Thanks for watching. As far as I am aware, unfortunately no ability to merge HDR in LR mobile. Which along with file structure/NAS workflow are the reasons I keep Classic running also. I do feel like the HDR feature will be something that will come to mobile in the future. But I guess we’ll have to wait for now 😁
Correct. Indeed HDR and Pano merging is not (yet) available on the iPad version of LR. I have found a way of achieving this by using Affinity Photo though. I could share the link to the video showing this but am sensitive not to promote someone else’s video on Hanna’s channel. In summary though… 1. Copy the WB to each photo so they are all the same. 2. Export the photos to merge to a folder. 3. Import the photos to Affinity Photo (AP) 4. Use AP to achieve the merge. 5. Export merged photo from AP 6. Import the merged photo back into LR. AP has to be purchased on the iPad for a one-off payment of £17.99 inc VAT. (I use as my alternative to Photoshop)

GREAT VIDEO!!! But what if you take some images with the iPhone, instead of your large camera? How do you work on those? (If you are in a place/country without good access to WiFi )
Good video it is and from this it is also clear even iPad mini with a base variant is enough for editing. Like you're pro photographer used to have loads of photo to edit frequently and if this iPad not hindering you then it really speaks it's potential and making it clear that for even this kind of work that is high performance task people doesn't need iPad pros and spend extra money.
Have always used my lightweight camera (a Fujifilm) handheld, but now considering getting a tripod as having a go at macro. How do you find that tripod listed below? How did you choose that one? Am new to world of tripods...and slightly overwhelmed at choice. Just want lightweight, easy to adjust, and the mechanism where it attaches and rotates to be faff free. Am not that tall, so do not need one that extends to huge height....Thank you.
The tripod field is a bit of a minefield isn’t it 😵💫 I’ve tried a fair few over the years. This one I must say is a fave. It’s fairly light, folds down into a very slim profile while being stable and big enough for my needs. Personally I wouldn’t spend the extra on the Peak Design competitor. If you’re not worried about weight you could go for something aluminium which would be cheaper also….
Absolutely no reason not to go for the 256gb. For me I just knew that I wouldn’t need it so didn’t want to spend the extra money if wasn’t going to use it. I think if there’s any doubt always go for the extra storage with Apple as no option to upgrade ✌🏻
I usually use Snapseed for my street photography. But for my portraits and street portraits and my photographs for my recent trip to Japan on Lightroom and Photoshop on my Xiaomi Android 128GB Tablet and I have puta 512GB SD Card in my tablet.

Tough call. I do love editing most of the time on my iPad as it just feels a lot more creative and artistic. Usually just travel with it as well. I predominantly use my MBP for video work and uploading really big photo shoots... I guess something like the MacBook Air could be a happy compromise. They are so portable and would give you all the versatility of the iOs as well.
