Never herded but 2, a 222G Wabco (Westinghouse Air Brake Company) and a 613 or 19 Cat with the 3208 engine, an older one. I HATED the Wabco because of the throwback of the Letourneau flywheel alternator/generator to pull the paddles with. The paddle drive housed the electric motor and was heavy as lead and you could NOT keep the thing cutting flat. It was always low to the gearbox side (left). It had a full 318 (with turbo) 8V-71 G.M. 2-cycle which I can listen to all day. The Cat was hydraulic drive and was balanced to a fare-thee-well. Sweet rig. Most of my panning has been with a TDS-14 and 24 Euclid/Terex/Tewreck that rode like a wagon but went like a Land Rover. Glad you ended up in a train instead of in pieces like me. CHEERS, Mate and Thanks.

I miss the satisfaction you get from building something in the earthmoving game, but train driving doesn't throw you round near as much. Glas your being entertained Lew.

If You ever listen to "JayPaydirt" Jeff Anderson has comments about His dad's WABCO. 😊

@@tedhansen3846 I canned paydirt when he started cussing a long time ago and I've got enough comments for those wretched 222's for a croud.

I wonder if this type of scrapers could be used on wildfires to create a corridor to stop the fire

Hi JP. Although Scrapers are great at moving dirt quickly, they aren't suitable for making fire breaks due to the likelyhood of staking tyres. In a bush fire situation, you don't want to find yourself stuck from a flat tyre. That's why Bulldozers and Graders are prefered, because they are able to move most of the hazards away from in front of them. Cheers and hope you enjoy the content.

Yep, the black soil on top was easy loading.. but when you get into the orange and white stuff it holds the moisture and builds up on the ejecter. I had to pry it off every morning with a sledge hammer and star picket!

If the clearance isn't right on the Johnson bowls between the floor the dirt will hang between the cutting edge lip the secret is..... to weld a strip inside on the main floor not on the sliding floor 1 in plate with a gap of 1/2 the floor hangs up because on the slide floor packs the dirt underneath the main floor you will never have that problem again.
