The SOM missile of Turkey

The SOM is a long range cruise missile of Turkey, developed by two Turkish defence company TUBITAK SAGE and Roketsan. The missile is equipped with a small turbojet engine by which the missile can hit its target within 250-500 kilometers. This NATO standard SOM missile can be used from F-35, F-16, F-4 fighter aircraft and Bayraktar Akinci military drone for air to ground attack mission as well as it can be used as anti-ship missile. The Turkish Airforce and Turkish Navy have used it in various combats, Azerbaijan Army has used it against Armenia in the war of Nagorno-Karabakh. In Europe and Asia the Turkish SOM missile is considered as a deadly smart weapon due to its success and effectiveness. Because of this missile technology Turkey has been a key player in global defence market.
