The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn't, or where it isn't, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance sub-system uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is, to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position where it was, is now the position that it isn't. Range is more like 500km for French and British missiles. The 250km variant is just for export clients such as Egypt, UAE, and now Ukraine to keep it within the international arms refulations!
The range is classified but known to be over 500 kms. The UK & France were selling them truly unlimitied to the UAE & (if I remember correctly) SA. The Americans were p1ssed & it ultimately led to the MTCR being ratified that signatories to the treaty could only export missiles with explosive payloads over a certain range up to 300 kms.

Animation note: The precursor warhead doesn't move, it explodes, disintegrating in the process. Because it's a shaped charge, approximately 20% of the explosive force is directed forward to make the hole which the follow-on charge then travels through. The explosion is over in a tiny fraction of a second, while the follow-on charge carries on moving with its own momentum at a few hundred metres a second, so the explosion is over while the follow-on charge is still moving.

The range can reach 560km on unrestricted missiles use by France and Greath Britain, but the export versions are sofware limited to 300km, but seem's that a limited batch of Scalp was delivered with less restricted range for a specific mission in the south east of Crimea (...)
a larger variant of the existing Storm Shadow active radar homing air-to-surface land attack cruise missile is very much needed . . . being larger means possibility of adding more warheads, in a all-in-one single package . . . Scalp Naval EG is a surface warship VLS land attack cruise missile . . .
Sorry , But you have a small mistake 🇺🇦 SU-24 carries "STROM SHADOW" missiles. MIG-29 can't because of STRROM SHADOW missile's weight and aerodynamic characters........🙂
I’m sure I won’t be the first or last to post that its range is 550km for the homegrown version used by UK & France. The export version - such as the one given to Ukraine - is limited to 250km. Great video - really enjoyed that! 👍🏻
We actually don't know which version was given to Ukraine, people have _assumed_ that it is the export version but these came directly from military stockpiles not sales stockpiles, they'll be fuelled as full fat - and yes the range is far in excess of 550km as the crow flies - the paper range is assuming a lot of avoidance plus a safety margin for a task-abortive diversion (which Ukraine is never going to use in a million years), it's also significantly more accurate than the on paper CEP. Don't ask for a source, you're not getting one.
@arnalou, could make sense. The french MDCN has 1000km range and is basically a modified storm shadow designed to be fired from a VLS or a torpedo tube.
Question: the GPS and 2 way data link guidance would be centrally located, correct? This wouldn't be a system the pilot would be operating, but a command and control element?
Storm Shadow is impressive, but the American AGM-158 LRASM and JASSM stand out as the top "stealth" cruise missiles today, They incorporate artificial intelligence to effectively differentiate between decoys and real targets, or between civilian and enemy ships, employ electronic counter-countermeasures, utilize flashlight antennas for precise signal reception, coordinate attacks, manipulate waveforms, employ adaptive beam forming techniques, and exhibit frequency agility...... undeniably the most technology advanced missile in the world...i hope you do the video on it
@@Mk1Male 2-way datalinks, data collected from things such as ELINT or COMINT and loaded into the missile, even militaries that use the same ships will have different EM, RF and other sorts of signals. The most difficult one would be military ships masking as civilian ships. For that you'd need a forward observer to detect and identify said ship as a military target and help with the guidance.
There are different variations of Storm shadow, Ukraine ahs the basic one. Because Britian does not want Ukraine to use them to fire deep into Russia, other Storm Shadows are capable.
Stealth? Hey but Russians started to shot them down so easily. Doesn't look like they are enough stealth 😂 To be fair, everything sent by the west so far is either destroyed or Russians found a way to disable it and make it not effective. They started downing even himras.
Clarification. In real combat environment these missiles are not fitted to MiG-29, they are too heavy for its weapon payload pylons. For these reasons they are fitted to work with Su-24 Bomber So far in real combat, these missiles have shown really good success rate, used to attack strategic centers, command centers, ammo and supply depots etc.
Just so you know the Mig-29 cannot carry the Storm Shadow due to weight constraints... Only the Su-27 and Su-24 have the required load weight for the Storm Shadow..
@@JohnNjengaCOCO Anything can be shot down. But the Storm Shadow skims the terrain and has a very low signature - so it's extremely difficult for even S-400 to get a positive read. In the final few seconds it gains altitude but this is typically too late for interception.
What's amazing is that you've persuaded the manufacturer to put your channel's logo on the missiles. I bet that wasn't cheap, but no wonder your subscriber count has risen so rapidly.
Rubbish, china has copied it already and gave the secrets to his friend pooptin. Now pooptin gave the blueprint to his friend iran, iran copied it and reproduce and gave it to hezbollah, palestine, etc.

Como se llama el programa que utilizan para realizar la programación y/o realizacion de los videos pero las animaciones osea los misiles aviones etc. gracias no el de los videos para subir a YT.
How the Storm Shadow works? In short? It works well... Western nations have mastered the subsonic stealthy missile type to a perfection and the Russians and the Chinese have a lot to learn in this regard.. Beside the Storm Shadow and the SCALP-EG which are basically the same missile with different name, there is the German Taurus cruise missile and the most advanced and stealthiest - the American JASSM. JASSM comes in few variants with the basic one having the range of around 250 km, than there's the JASSM-ER reaching 550 km and finally JASSM-XR (extreme range) reaching over 1000 km. That being said those same Western nations have for decades lagged behind the Russians, and recently behind the Chinese, when it comes to supersonic missiles. But that problem is being worked on with many programs being developed by the US, Great Britain and French militaries, with a goal being this new class of supersonic and hypersonic missiles. Some are anti ship, other are anti radiation while some are ground attack types..

Anyway, I hope that doesn’t come off as criticism or anything, I’m a big fan of what you do and I can’t even imagine the work that goes into each video, but I’d hate to see you start to lose your reputation of accuracy because a few mistakes compounding. Thanks for the videos!
We love constructive criticism!
but the problem with youtube Algoritm is they prefer only Trending videos
Trending videos means super fast production.
it's bad news for 3d Animation youtubers as it takes 30 to 45 days to Animate a 15 mins video.
If that Video miss the 1 million Views mark in 20 days it's a loss for us.
The Solution expand our source of income.
Little errors?
It's riddled with massive ones....the entire section on guidance is utter bollocks...
Tyler Rogoway wouldn't touch them with a bargepole...
These are good for banana republics not against enemy who places Berlin location north of Moscow on your NATO display.
Great and very informative as always! A video about the Taurus KEPD 350 would be awesome!
I got many request for this today
Is it this one i just googled today
Taurus KEPD 350 is a Swedish-German air-launched cruise missile, manufactured by Taurus Systems and used by Germany, Spain, and South Korea.
Great video! One comment: on your pros/cons section, it should say storm shadow is slower than supersonic missiles, not subsonic!
The animation in this video is amazing!
Range is more like 500km for French and British missiles. The 250km variant is just for export clients such as Egypt, UAE, and now Ukraine to keep it within the international arms refulations!
Bedankt
Thanks 👍 a lot will credit you in our future videos
your animations are just incredible bravo
thanks we love our audience
I'm Big Fan of This Channel..... ❤❤
Please, make a Video on CV90 Family
The range is classified but known to be over 500 kms. The UK & France were selling them truly unlimitied to the UAE & (if I remember correctly) SA. The Americans were p1ssed & it ultimately led to the MTCR being ratified that signatories to the treaty could only export missiles with explosive payloads over a certain range up to 300 kms.
Great info we learned something today
Range is 1,200 KMs, UK and France were selling them because they are quite useless.
@@supershayloman961 The missiles are useless? According to... You? Their combat history over the past 20 years in both counterinsurgency and conventional warfare say quite the opposite
@@supershayloman961: Let's just say, for instance, it's useless & everybody knows it. Why would other countries 'still' buy it? Knowing fine well that it's "useless." If you, "General Nobody" knows it's "useless" surely other, real-life Generals would know this aswell?

@@supershayloman961 ridiculous troll comment: the max range is not classified and is up top 560km and they are VERY EFFICIENT even in case of powerfull jamming because they multiple guidance system, and for high defended areas , they are accompagnied from decoy missiles...
This is the best breakdown I’ve ever seen. Thank you to the Algorithm gods
May I politely suggest an edit around 7:22? You mean: if one were to compare Storm Shadow to both supersonic and hypersonic (air-to-surface) missiles. Possibly, somebody already mentioned this observation. Best part of this video? During the intro, you said, "Let's dive in." Really, this video is quite professional.
Thanks for the feedback will improve as we move along
Amazing animation, it must have taken a very long time to create.
That said, where are the fuel tanks? Or did I miss them?
Yes we forgot to add.
Made this in 6 Days - Working for 18 Hrs in a day :)

La calidad de animación increíble y la información muy precisa dentro de lo que cabe

The precursor is just a huge shaped charge explosive?
I understand that in the final phase, the missile climbs to enable best probability of target identification and then dives into the target for best penetration.
Yes something like that i meant Hats off to the Engineers who make these stuff.
Like a huge Javelin ATGM....
Best channel for superb military engineering.

Excellent job!
Thanks jeffsiegwart !
I know nothing about this, it all sounds good to me. I am very impressed by the narration, just one little thing that you probably only tripped over or missed: “@3:15 these engines generate thrust to **propple** the missile”-should be pro-pell (like yell) the missile.
Really good work, sounded very professional!
Very nice explanation and lovely animation
Thanks 🙏👍
The range can reach 560km on unrestricted missiles use by France and Greath Britain, but the export versions are sofware limited to 300km, but seem's that a limited batch of Scalp was delivered with less restricted range for a specific mission in the south east of Crimea (...)
a larger variant of the existing Storm Shadow active radar homing air-to-surface land attack cruise missile is very much needed . . . being larger means possibility of adding more warheads, in a all-in-one single package . . . Scalp Naval EG is a surface warship VLS land attack cruise missile . . .
Needed for what? For Ukraine? But Russians are soon gonna blunt its advantage the same way they made Byrakter, HIMERS and HARM missile useless.
Great work. You have earned my subscription and judging by the calibre of the comments on your video, you have many fine folks that also watch.

thanks!
great animation-video...- great work ! completely modelled with blender ? really perfect

Amazing 3d animation as always. Keep it up bruh
Sorry , But you have a small mistake 🇺🇦 SU-24 carries "STROM SHADOW" missiles. MIG-29 can't because of STRROM SHADOW missile's weight and aerodynamic characters........🙂
This is great graphic work, I thought it took three weeks, not three days
I’m sure I won’t be the first or last to post that its range is 550km for the homegrown version used by UK & France. The export version - such as the one given to Ukraine - is limited to 250km.
Great video - really enjoyed that! 👍🏻
560 km is the official range for uk and france , but it is higher in fact but classified
@@Arnalou83 🤣🤣 whishfull thinking
Storm Shadow is impressive, but the American AGM-158 LRASM and JASSM stand out as the top "stealth" cruise missiles today, They incorporate artificial intelligence to effectively differentiate between decoys and real targets, or between civilian and enemy ships, employ electronic counter-countermeasures, utilize flashlight antennas for precise signal reception, coordinate attacks, manipulate waveforms, employ adaptive beam forming techniques, and exhibit frequency agility...... undeniably the most technology advanced missile in the world...i hope you do the video on it
Will do our research.
So a military using civilian ships, or ships from another countries military that are used by another military, are identified how?
Doesn't look like they are enough stealth 😂
To be fair, everything sent by the west so far is either destroyed or Russians found a way to disable it and make it not effective. They started downing even himras.
In step 6: climbing
Any data from how much distance it start climbing...
Excellent job done BTW...
Keep up the good work
Yes, thanks
@@Aitelly kindly share if you have any data or calculations, at what distance it start climb with rest to target for impact...
Clarification. In real combat environment these missiles are not fitted to MiG-29, they are too heavy for its weapon payload pylons. For these reasons they are fitted to work with Su-24 Bomber
So far in real combat, these missiles have shown really good success rate, used to attack strategic centers, command centers, ammo and supply depots etc.
Your videos are amazing. Please make a video about how amphibious military vehicles work.
Yes i got 2 request on this
@7:22 you said subsonic missiles are faster than Storm Shadow while this missile IS a subsonic missile... I think you meant supersonic...
Excellent work, fantastic animation, congratulations
Thanks man . Your Awesome
Just so you know the Mig-29 cannot carry the Storm Shadow due to weight constraints... Only the Su-27 and Su-24 have the required load weight for the Storm Shadow..
Yes, we launch this missile from the Su-24M, the Mig-29 cannot lift it
@@Luminous_trident These missile fly at 500km/Hr and can be shot down. Also your SU24M can easily be shot down by S-400
@@JohnNjengaCOCO Anything can be shot down. But the Storm Shadow skims the terrain and has a very low signature - so it's extremely difficult for even S-400 to get a positive read. In the final few seconds it gains altitude but this is typically too late for interception.
@@JohnNjengaCOCOBut they aren't being shot down, are they? They are making it through to their targets and blowing them to smithereens.
@@JohnNjengaCOCO any real links showing any have been shot down?
What's amazing is that you've persuaded the manufacturer to put your channel's logo on the missiles. I bet that wasn't cheap, but no wonder your subscriber count has risen so rapidly.
The Britts as well as the Swedes are magnificent at inventing lethal cruise missiles. *Go United Kingdom!!*
Rubbish, china has copied it already and gave the secrets to his friend pooptin. Now pooptin gave the blueprint to his friend iran, iran copied it and reproduce and gave it to hezbollah, palestine, etc.
Cat Steven's had a cool song ... I am being followed by a Storm Shadow ....
It's actually launched mainly from Su-24 tactical bomber

🖐Hi guys, it's me again, the grumpyGrand'Pa. Very impressive video, we learn a lot from your work, congrats again. And the graphics are really nice and informative. I want to point a big vocabular error here : @ 00:07:18 "As stated this is a cruise missile so its speed is very slow compared to a _SUBSONIC_ missile" (and on the screen you even confirm writing "subsonic"). Sorry, you are wrong, this is the opposite. You should have stated "... slow compared to a _SUPERSONIC_ missile " And righteously, you show a Kinzhal _supersonic/hypersonic_ russian missile, which is a good comparison. Apart from that, KUTGW, and thank you. In an ideal world, you know I would advise you to correct the video and upload it again. I think your audience and your work deserves it. 👍🖖

I feel like animation like these will someday bring a new era of education - where students will learn by (Virtually) experiencing the thing. I just hope:
1. High quality animation is available for all, not just for the uber rich kids. Think Finnish or German education instead of American.
2. Virtual experience doesn't make schools cut down on lab budget. Cause real world will always be chaotic. So, experiment with real stuff is always a must.

TH-cam algorithm is very unpredictable
The Taurus is similar but from newer generation
Brilliant video
Thanks Paul Skillcorn

! question, you mention that the size is a disadvantage, how many equivalent performance weapons can be carried by fighter jet ? The Tomahawk requires a much larger platform f.ex.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was.
The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
Thanks for the info
