The USA is building hypersonic missiles that are miniature (only a few cm long) they can navigate inside bunkers. The idea is the bad guy will take it in the bunker unknowingly, and then it ignites and accelerates to hypersonic speed. It has a lot of moving parts but it works.

Correction about the word hypersonic so no one gets confused i will do my best to try and keep it simple (I don’t blame you if you don’t read this is kind of long for a comment) Hypersonic is a speed threshold anything 5x the speed of sound is hypersonic Most ballistic missiles and all space ships can go at hypersonic speeds Ballistic missiles (like the one used on Tel Aviv) go at hypersonic speeds during launch in the stratosphere (stratosphere is the 2nd layer of our atmosphere from the earths surface ) or when they are in the space or the exosphere part of our atmosphere (with little air resistance and the last layer of our atmosphere ) and that’s where the apogee (when the missiles starts going back down) part of the flight path fuel and uses the earths gravity to descend back down to earth which is called its terminal phase and hit its target depending on the missile type and flight path it could go very fast or a bit slow for a missile but it is around 2000 mph which is Mach 2 a common question ask is why not add more fuel so it can go faster while descending because that adds weight which needs to increase the booster which increases the drag which decreases the missiles range so you see how this becomes a problem really fast (it’s a bit more complicated then this so you should do your own research into this) Hypersonic weapons (not in the definition of hypersonic) can maneuver at those high speeds in the earths atmosphere though the science and laws of physics makes it *VERY* hard to make because you need a missile that can survive in temperatures over 4000 degrees in the earths atmosphere and because it is so hot it can bend the air frame of the missile when it tries to maneuver kind of like how you see hot metal in factories being bent but it’s not impossible to make right now I think only China and the U.S are the only countries in the world that can make this type of technological and maybe Russia depending how generous you want to be with them So was the Houthi missile going at hypersonic speeds during parts of its flight? But they do have ballistic missiles that go at hypersonic speeds during boost phase and midcourse phase but they run out of fuel because they used all of it to reach apogee and then uses the earths gravity to fall back down and hit its target

The USA is building hypersonic missiles that are miniature (only a few cm long) they can navigate inside bunkers. The idea is the bad guy will take it in the bunker unknowingly, and then it ignites and accelerates to hypersonic speed. It has a lot of moving parts but it works.

Hypersonic is a speed threshold anything 5x the speed of sound is hypersonic
Most ballistic missiles and all space ships can go at hypersonic speeds
Ballistic missiles (like the one used on Tel Aviv) go at hypersonic speeds during launch in the stratosphere (stratosphere is the 2nd layer of our atmosphere from the earths surface ) or when they are in the space or the exosphere part of our atmosphere (with little air resistance and the last layer of our atmosphere ) and that’s where the apogee (when the missiles starts going back down) part of the flight path fuel and uses the earths gravity to descend back down to earth which is called its terminal phase and hit its target depending on the missile type and flight path it could go very fast or a bit slow for a missile but it is around 2000 mph which is Mach 2
a common question ask is why not add more fuel so it can go faster while descending because that adds weight which needs to increase the booster which increases the drag which decreases the missiles range so you see how this becomes a problem really fast (it’s a bit more complicated then this so you should do your own research into this)
Hypersonic weapons (not in the definition of hypersonic) can maneuver at those high speeds in the earths atmosphere though the science and laws of physics makes it *VERY* hard to make because you need a missile that can survive in temperatures over 4000 degrees in the earths atmosphere and because it is so hot it can bend the air frame of the missile when it tries to maneuver kind of like how you see hot metal in factories being bent but it’s not impossible to make right now I think only China and the U.S are the only countries in the world that can make this type of technological and maybe Russia depending how generous you want to be with them

Russian vanguard travels 20 - 27 Mach. Source: wiki. Never seen used, though.
yes, only tested, and max speed of 27 mach comes from such tests. But i dont really think its important since such speeds are only a thing in space part of trajectory. But still gives less time for an opponent to react.
