    does anyone know why i find this fascinating ? because i don't find any interest in picking myself i just really enjoy watching this guy pick locks

    • @sd4dfg2
      @sd4dfg2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many videos that purposely try to reproduce the effect, search TH-cam for "ASMR". Some will be as annoying as nails on a blackboard, and nearly all will seem silly, but a few will hit the spot.

      @ConTodayTempo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      sd4dfg2 no offense but wtf are you talking about

    • @sd4dfg2

      +Tom Middleton You asked why you enjoy watching this even though you don't like lock picking. You called it fascinating.

      i never said i don't like lock picking i said i never had interest in doing it myself if i didn't like it i wouldn't find it interesting to watch. you said search ASMR and it came up with some shit that wasn't anything to do with lock picking ?

      +Tom Middleton He has a good up-beat personality and the video content is actually fun to watch, you never know when something wacky comes in as a challenge, or when some ML lock gets destroyed along with ML's dignity.

    Nice! And no, I did not mess with that one. Still waiting for the lock with the evil face millled into it and only three pin. :P

    Safety>Security it seems, even the Master lockout lock in another video was half decent!

    Another great video Bill, in fact when you first recommended the lock out locks many years ago I bought 4, to this day they are still my favourite padlocks to pick.

    But we do depend on the Brady locks for security - to not get crushed/electrocuted/cut by a machine.

    Easiest way into a LOTO lock is bolt cutters....or Bosniabill if he's available at any given refinery! Those where always fun. I'd bet them I could pick it before they found or got someone on site with bolt cutters. Fun stuff great work all around man!

    I have an Abus lockout lock from Panduit. It is also a 6 pin and it too was a fun little lock to pick. Nice one!

    These purpose built locks are interesting, the plastic body, the retain key function, the lack of a spring. Geared for a job.

    Hey Bill, what are the background sounds? I listened to your video for the first time on headphones, and I can hear an alarm clock and something which I might describe as a rack server, but my guess is a a notebook not far away as it is softer than your voice and changes during the video. Am I right? :D

  • @hoggif

    From the video this seems similar to both I have ie. a combination of spools and serrated. Those make some great practice locks! (I actually tried those out after seeing how nice those can be on another your video about lockout locks)

    Good day Bill, i recently started watching your videos. And i must say they are quite nice and entertaining. Also it got me interested in trying. Ofc in the safety of my room. So with you wouldnt believe what bad tools i came up with and made myself something that resembled a pick and a tension wrench and picked the first thing that fell in my hands and i must say a perfect beginner lock (Abus 55/40). When it first popped open the joy was real but i had to open it another 10 times to be sure i had learned something. And i wish to do some more but i being a student dont have the money for tools and am not the best craftsman.

    Hey bill, since you were not interested in my previous locks ( and for good reason ) i decide to make a challenge lock for you. Just a simple 5 pin kwikset deadbolt ;). No counter milling, no threaded chambers, pin 1 and 5 are kwikset commercial spools, no core sleeve. Just 2,3,4 are my "special" drivers. All standard key pins with a modest pattern bitting. I will also provide the key. If you get in this lock well ... You are the champ. Fyi you are my inspiration to start lock sport this is a friendly message but i must stump the master lol. Let me know if you except? Also obviously there are some rules to opening my lock. ;) thanks bill let me know.

    Hi Bill, I'm new to lock picking and could do with a little help already. As I said I've only been doing lock picking for a few days and about the only lock I've picked is the clear practice lock (with multiple different techniques) and I've raked open a master No5 a couple of times. I'm just wondering if you could help with an Abus 65/40? I've SPP'd it a couple of times but tried it again and think it might have been more luck than anything. I can get a deep set but I think I overset the remaining pins (which I think are spools?)
    Thanks :)

    Bill, I have watched many of your videos recently and am blown away by your skills. Do lock companies ever contact you for your expertise and use your critical analysis to improve their locks? (I guess, MasterLock being the exception!)

  • @chriskaprys

    love your vids, bill.
    was wondering, how do you find the difference is when picking locks without the vice, when they're actually attached to the object they're securing? any obvious variation on your approach or handling since the lock would be free-hanging?
    cheers.

    hey bill i started picking recently , i was picking the 2 old locks i found in the house , i picked them both several times , but still its not very consistent and i feel its because of the pick that i made from hair clip, it does the job but it bends alot and i was wondering if you had any suggestions on what should i use to make picks from?

    I don't think LOTO locks are really designed to be secure, because they're only designed to tell someone that "here is work ongoing". A tag would be enough actually, but the lock ensures nobody misses the sign or thinks the sign is for a another breaker or switch. Propably they just use a core with security pins because they only manufacture cores with security pins. For example, here in sweden, theres no LOTO regulations at all. You don't even need a tagout. The only places where switches are locked out during work is in public spaces, but then they are locked out all the time, either in on or off position, and only the equipment owner has the key, not the electrician, so the equipment owner turns on the equipment after getting a clear by the electrician. In restricted or private spaces, if a breaker or fuse is turned off, the person in charge is legally obligated to check nobody is working before turning on the equipment, eg IF you turn on something, and someone gets electrocuted, hurt, burned, gets his fingers cut, or whatever, because you were too lazy to check, you gonna be charged with many crimes, were talking about crimes that walk very near "murder" in punishment. And also: Here in sweden, its actually illegal for a electrician to lock out anything with a own lock without full permission from the equipment owner, eg the equipment owner can demand that the electrician works on the equipment without locking it out, only turning it off. The only time the electrician can refuse, is if its unsafe, for example a non-locked switch in a public space.

    Nice Pick Bill :-) I also Noticed that since It looks like you did some remodeling on the bench, and you either lost, misplaced, or relocated some of the stuff you had on the wall , (i.e. plaques, pictures, and Buttons) Did you need a few more of those Lock Tube Buttons made up and sent your way? Still have the Template for them. :-)

    I've observed that you travel a lot. Have you been to places where people put "love locks" all over bridges and stuff? I read that some people involved in locksport remove some of them but I don't know if that is ethical or not since they don't own them.
