Thanks for watching; If you want to try anything shown in this vid for yourself, links for all relevant software I used can be found in the description!
There's also a new method: Two GBA's, two GBA wireless adapters, a flash cart and your game. A youtuber named Goppier and his friend UndeadxReality have made reconstructions of all the event distribution roms (and all of the gen3 pokémon distributions which require link cable instead) that unlock ALL the event islands in FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald (in all languages) along with Altering Cave functionality (although it's pointless in Emerald due to extended safari zone, except maybe for farming berry juice from wild shuckle)
Great vid! I wish this was around a couple years ago. While doing the Ribbon Master challenge & a version of Bird Keeper Toby’s Masterdex I researched most all this info. I’ve been in all kinds of forums, videos, & spoke to people that have the older games & peripherals… but here’s everything in one place!!! Haha. I DID NOT know that the e-reader writes in code that wasn’t present before. That’s nuts!! Great stuff!! Great work you’ve done!!
Hey man, these are really well researched and a treat to watch and learn from. I have distinct and frustrating memories of living in Japan when the distribution of a lot of these events was occurring but my American cart not being compatible, so seeing them all documented is a fun way to experience them.
Loving the use of the pokemon ranger music throughout the video! I'm going to check out the gen 2 video after I'm done with this one. Also, nice shiny Wugtrio catch. I think that they look neat.
Since Crystal on the Virtual Console had the GS Ball, I am excited at the idea that the gen I debuted in, when it gets on the Virtual Console, might allow everyone to access some of these events
I used to own a couple pokemon tcg cards that had eReader trainers in the sets I don't own them anymore but I knew what they were and it's an interesting concept and I feel like this could be implemented today with better usage
That's right, bonus disc is pretty expensive here in the UK (and in America too from what i've heard) so I emulated a copy of it to test the distribution out for myself; if you have a way to load custom ROMs from a gamecube + a GBA-Gamecube link cable, you can absolutely emulate and distribute the Wishmaker Jirachi to yourself.
Wait so it's kinda theoretically possible to put a made up Pokémon in a real Pokémon game with code injection??? What are the extent of the hardware and/or e reader code??? Where can I find people that know a lot about this???
Yes! You'll need the GBA-GCN link cable to connect the two, but it's definitely possible (as long as you don't have a wii mini or whichever model removed the gamecube ports).
Sadly you can't use the adventure mode. I tried and it doesn't go past the bios, but if you have a modded Wii you may as well dump your game and play it on the emulator.
You can add your own trainer in the game ? That's so interesting ^^ Nintendo should have tried to make a custom E reader card maker, so you can add whatever you want in the game. Maybe it would have been more successful with that.
It's a huge shame that the majority of Gen 1 and 2 events were stored on otherwise normal GB/C cartridges. So much cool stuff was lost when those batteries died

The way Nintendo said "destroy everything" for those cards like they were trying to hide dead bodies...

Amazing video!!!!! Love this niche rabbit hole
Still enjoying my shiny Eon Ticket Latias at least from my Omega Ruby 😃
Where the e reader card for going to a whole new region where there are 10 million Pokémon that can clearly all fit on one game boy advance

I hope this blows up, this is cool

I didn't know about the mystery gift is exciting one but I did know the link together with all
This is so cool I was considering buying an e reader lol
Wait so can I use modded Wii to emulate Pokémon box to use with an official copy of the game boy games?
How would you connect the gba?

6:20 That pichu can't even be transfered to gen 4 😔

I love this type of content
Awesome
Good video but why is SV footage running in the background for most of it?
Kinda ruins the mood tbh
