    if you're looking for thinner book cases that look nice for games you should get the Atlantic Oskar 1080 Media Storage shelves. I use them for boxed cib games and theyre perfect. also you can adjust them however you want so theyre very accommodating for smaller games like ps1 cases and gameboy boxes.

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Those are very good, too. I'm pretty sure I have some of the smaller ones to hold my Game Boy CIB stuff.

    Nice! Love the game room. Would love to have a retro collection like yours. I actually have the sony trinitron wide screen myself. Love the stereo sound from it. I try not to play it to much because of longevity reasons. Really wish that I didn't get rid of a lot of my retro games growing up.

    I think you should have round stickers with different colors to indicate which box is real and which is repro. It would make a better sense for yourself and for the others seeing how you mix them together. Like green sticker - real, red - repro. Just a thought

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good thought! I wound up rearranging the NES black box ones a bit to make it a little easier to tell which ones were repro, but some other kind of indicator wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Thanks!

    Do you play Snes component on Wega ? Did you have the convenient cable for it ?

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Trinitron, and I have the HD Retrovision component cable for it. I honestly don't notice a big difference between that and composite for my SNES. Other platforms (like Genesis in particular) the component cables make a huge difference, or at the very least a noticeable one, but SNES only looks marginally better.

    What was the shelf name that was holding all your magazines?

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here's the link. It needs reinforcement for sure though because all those magazines exceed its listed weight limit.

    This is a perfectly reasonable and admirable gaming room. It's not insane - it's sensible. What a breath of fresh air from some of the other rooms out there.

  • @chrisb1236

    Where did you get your reproduction game boxes from?

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ones for games that never had boxes of that size like Mario/Duck Hunt and the small EarthBound box were from a site called Uncle Tusk, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. The black box games I got from BoxMyGames.

    How do you store your cd/dvd games to prevent disc rot. Thanks

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Boy, I wish I had an answer to that. I try not to keep them anywhere with high humidity or heat, and my basement is weirdly the most consistent area in the house in terms of temp, and I run a dehumidifier in the summer, but outside of that I don't really have an answer. It's something I should look into more.

    What shelves do you use?

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The shelves holding my games are ikea billy, the shelves holding my consoles are ikea kallax with glass shelf inserts (also ikea). The cube shelves holding my magazines are Target home essentials.

    I got rid of my water boiler tank. They last less than 10 years and cost about $3 grand. My water tank was on the attic and it was rusted and leaking. So I went tankless which is about $5 grand. It last from 25-30 years. I told the people to put it in the garage because I don't want it leaking in the attic. For one, its less space than the water boiler. So the next time you need to change the boiler, there are other new methods. Cleaning it is like cleaning a laundry washer. Very simple method.

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard about those and they seem like a great idea. Thanks for the info!

    • @noonetmc
      @noonetmc ปีที่แล้ว

      My understanding is that tankless has a much higher energy cost. See Technology Connections recent videos for details.

    • @Tiknuttle

    Plastic shoe rack for amiibos: that's a very good and cheap idea. I was thinking of ways to put close to the ceilings.
    The couch and coffee table is very homey. Who cares what other thinks about it. It's your entertainment room. You can have your old Teddy Ruxpin with a raggedy old tmnt blanket and it's homey.

    Regarding shelves, it is a shame IKEA stopped manufacturing their media shelf from the early 00's. They were thin but they had perfect depth and had reasonably variable height adjustment.

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never seen those before, but they sound perfect. Bummer about them no longer existing for sure.

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh believe me, I'm well aware of how much it hurts. But at least it's accessible now. A year ago it was all in boxes. I plan on eventually moving that stuff out where it can be seen/safer, but it's a long process.

    Where’s your Dreamcast & PS1 games & consoles?

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      PlayStation games are at 13:08. Dreamcast games are at 23:39. I have a black Sega Sports Dreamcast console on the shelves at around 21:26. White Dreamcast is in the closet, as well as a handful of PS1 consoles. I have a PS2 hooked up right under the Dreamcast that I typically sue to play PSX games, but I do occasionally swap out out for a PS1 for that sweet startup screen.

    It's not that old. I have ps3 4 5 and series x. A basement would be nice place to keep your games. I go to a place called the exchange. They have old consoles games and new consoles. Thats where I buy

    Do you have any kids? I would. be so worried about children going through the vintage stuff! LOL

    • @stoneagegamer
      @stoneagegamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do! They've been a large part of why this has taken me so long to put together, as I didn't want them to grab anything they weren't supposed to when they were little. They're 5 and 9 now, so they know the rules of what they can and can't mess with. Of course, when they're a little older and have friends come over, that's when I'm going to have to figure out some sort of locking system.
