This album was definitely influence by Patrick’s Tv/movie composing over the last 8 years, which really pays off. The orchestra on this album is insane, definitely their best album since Folie.
i honestly really liked this album a lot. i was cautiously hopeful after the singles, and it honestly blew me away. Heaven, Iowa and I Am My Own Muse are 2 of the best songs they’ve ever released imo. but hey, everyone’s opinion is different.
My favorite part about this video is Brad continually bringing up/realizing as he listens that the lyrics are what make each song interesting more than any other part. To me, as a Fall Out Boy fan, this is why I like them. It's not for everyone, and I get that, but I love when the lyrics actually have meaning, emotion, or can tell a story in a fun but melancholy way. It's something that I think they are one of the best at.
As a pretty big Fall Out Boy fan (they’re probably somewhere in my Top 50 favorite music artists), I liked this album. Solid 7/10 for me. Definitely the best album they made since Folie a Deux.
they've been one of my favorites for about ten years now and i was genuinely disappointed by this album :/ it's good to see that other people enjoyed it, though (: i just wish it was a bit less... predictable. my favorite albums are ioh, folie, and mania
IOH will always be my favorite, but imo SMFS is my 2nd. It's objectively really well-made and you can tell how much they've developed their song-writing and production. No idea what this guy's problem was. Even when he technically gave songs decent scores he did so begrudgingly and still made every "compliment" sound backhanded. So much of this Brad guy's reaction was just him complaining that Fall Out Boy sound like...Fall Out Boy. Like bro went into it prematurely hating them and got mad they gave him what he already planned to hate?
Infinity on high is the album that you enjoyed the most? Common Brad W. I feel like the fandom praises From Under the Cork Tree way too much and overlooks Infinity on high, which is personally my favorite from them. Such a fun album

I can feel Brads predisposition to disliking fall out boy playing a big part here. He was just very unserious listening to this the whole time, and was constantly pullong himself out of the music to use his soundboard and what not. Kind of a bummer because this album is actually pretty damn good.
A lot of people came here with their thoughts as a “Fall Out Boy fan”. Let me come here with my thoughts as a Fall Out Boy hater: this album is surprisingly not that bad. I didn’t really like the first two singles as I felt like Patrick was exploiting his voice a bit too much on them, and the music itself wasn’t that interesting. The album itself is alright, but it is definitely a step up after MANIA. At first I thought they were gonna try to emulate their first two albums (which I hate btw), but they actually made it sound reminiscent of Infinity and Folie (which are the only two albums by them I like aside from AB/AP). The music is nothing out of this world, but at least now they have a consistent sound instead of trying to make whatever the hell is popular nowadays. Some pretty good songs like Heaven, Iowa and Flu Game, might go back to those eventually. Overall, nothing shocking but hey, at least they don’t suck as hard as they did before. Hope they can make a better album after this. 6/10. PS: That album cover is frickin atrocious tho.
As a fob fan im kinda glad to hear that even a fucking fob hater likes this album a bit Kinda confirms in my head that this is objectively at LEAST a decent album and im not just a braindead biased npc

I cried last night listening to this album. I've been looking forward to this for 5 years. They signed to FBR again and that's why it's more low-key. The album cover isn't great though.
Is it a bit weird… yes. But the thing is it’s designed to look tangible, like the anthesis of stuff like NFTs, with claymation letters and the oil painting in the center. And I kinda love it for that.

Wanna tell Legoshi, as a fellow Brit and big FOB fan, I am also a MANIA defender 😊 Not all of it, there's tracks I rarely listen to but Last of the Real Ones is one of my fave songs they've ever done and I love quite a lot of the other tracks. By contrast I absolutely love the first handful of songs on Stardust and the title track but the stuff in the middle is taking a bit longer to grow on me. Some of it sounds sort of weirdly like a throwback to the old days but then also sort of not like them at all.
I have to say this absolutely blew me away. Best album since Folie A Deux, and after the last 4 albums of radio garbage this genuinely feels like a return to form
I agree with Legoshi. I see the charm and "magic" from their early releases in post-hiatus projects, despite the theming being off for me. It's the reason I love Fall Out Boy so much. It's definitely the band I hold closest to my heart, in music and history. It's the sort of thing that I can break down and cry to one of their normal songs, not even an emotional one, just because it resonates so deeply. The lyricism especially. Though I do believe that the "hit home" lines are more far and few between on their latest albums. A bit more cringe haha. this album grew on me immensely and is a wonderful evolution for the band. their influences have only multiplied, it shows throughout the discography. fall out boy like it or not, have continued to push how they are perceived as a band, instead of doing some subpar, travis barker (great drummer, all the respect, but MAN stop producing the same dull beats) feature pop-punk-slop that has been unfortunately resurrected through less than desirable artists like mgk and yungblud. additionally, they were STELLAR live. Patrick has really kept his voice and honed it further, so clean and clear, not a single miss as a live singer. Andy is an incredibly solid drummer and really fucks on a lot of side projects of his, but par for course of a drummer with firmly planted roots in vegan straight edge hardcore. I think the Folie comparison comes from a switch in sound from last album. Folie was not received nearly as well as Infinity (150k albums sold in the first week) like it wasnt booed and hated, but that pressure to do another Take this to Your Grave has always been there and they refuse to do that because it wouldn’t be true to them as musicians 20 YEARS LATER. In terms of songwriting on this, the band feels more together than any other post hiatus album. partially due to actually having time in the studio together and probably newfound passion post pandemic, plus they linked back up with their old producer who did folie and infinity. the album most likely sounds has a formulaic feel because Patrick is basically the one writing the music, or has a very large role in that part of the creative process. Pete’s back to writing melodramatic lyrics, some of the best wordplay I’ve seen from them in a while. that’s just how FOB writes, I personally like it, and if you don’t you probably won’t warm up much more to their discography. strong 7 to light mid 8/10 I love fall out boy (perhaps my favorite artist ever) and i had a great time with this album and seeing them on this tour, hope they make more music just to see them again SORRY THIS IS SO LONG GAH

I mean thats the thing for most albums, if you're not paying attention to the band or their scene you can miss a lot unless they throw a lot of money on promoting it. Based on their last album I can see them not putting too much into it just in case.
Usually I find out about new albums from music meme groups or spotify recs.
What A Time To Be Alive is great
My guy, I really want you to react to The Last Shadow Puppets albums from 2008 and 2016, including any extra singles. PLEASE
brilliant defense in the name of adhd bitches, i use lyrics and my friends always make fun of me then shut up once i explain that without i genuinely will have to skip back like 20 times in a song
The title says it all
Tbh if the album was actually listened to you’d probably like it more lol
I Am My Own Muse is the best track on this album.
Man I really loved FOB back then. Really helped me as an edgy teen lmao. Same as P!ATD. Everything they released the past few years just don’t hit the same.
man im still waiting for a babymetal reaction
0:08 bro invented anticipointed
This album is pretty solid. A definite improvement over MANIA, with some legit bangers!
The bass line on Hold Me Like A Grudge is a lot like Panic Station by Muse.
I've heard this is return to form for them or something. Getting back to their roots.
I made it in a brad video, life is good now
wow it really does sound the same as their oldddd stuff
That half alive take has me malding 😭 I love their music sm
Patrick Stump isn't the biggest waste of talent for vocalists, but he certainly makes the list.
Great album!
What is wrong with 2023 when Fantano gives Ice Spice a higher score than Brad, but a lower score for Fall Out Boy?
Imma be real here, I dont understand that one person in the stream saying that the lyrics are trash. Hello? Maybe it isn't as easy to understand, but not a lot of artists writes lyrics this detailed and out of cliche.
that person who said ford fiesta core was so real
I am my own Muse is my favorite
the needle brap
I think this album hits everything. The fans. The poppy pop for the radio. I am my own muse is personally my favorite. I don’t like the heartbreak single very much at all. But the other songs wouldve been still better singles . Everything is rehash. It’s not folie a duex but I do still like it.
Brad please react to Nothing But Thieves, they have a new album coming out in July
Alright that’s the last straw
I’m going goblin mode
i always think this album cover is fetch the bolt cutters
hi brad, I'm not gonna watch this one bc fall out boy's my favorite band & I'll cry if you criticize them. ily though
Fall out boy is 10/10 grow up 🎃🎃🎃🎯🪀🪀🎯🎯
