  • Taking a look at the REI Co-op 650 Down Jacket 2.0, the Patagonia Nano Puff, and the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer 2. I tested each down jacket in the Idaho backcountry and you'll see examples of each jacket being put to the test in all sorts of weather conditions. I found each one had benefits, but one was the clear winner.

If u had to choose between 225 g of 90/10 duck down with 750 cuin fill power or 115 g 90/10 goose down with 800 cuin fill power from the same brand. which one would u go for to keep u warm leaving everything else aside. Just warmth? What temp do u think the later could withstand? Appreciate a reply mate. Many thanks in advance.

    Zippers. It takes extra time and skilled work to install the YKK zippers correctly. Zippers fail on the cheaper coats because they rarely get them installed just right at the beginning of the run where you start it. Poster is absolutely right about Patagonia gear, even if the zipper breaks you can send it in and they have a repair shop. Happy trails!

    • @feliperivas3814
      @feliperivas3814 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own one too and it fits me snug, but I prefer it that way for my more fashionable choices. However, having it compress because of its tighter fit is bad for insulation.
      I also own a different puffy that is a size up and I prefer to use that one for chillier back-country weather because I can layer underneath as much as needed.
      If you want to get more insulation out of your puffy, then sizing up will allow it to expand and attain more of its insulatory properties. But if you live in warmer weather or prefer more snug fits, then not sizing up is fine.

    A bit surprised you did not mention Montbell Plasma 1000 which is the gold standard when it comes to down and light. My Plasma weighs 4.9 ounces and it replaces my Patagonia jacket. If I was going synthetic I would go with the Enlightened Equipment jacket. It’s super light and made in the USA. I am pretty sure the Patagonia jacket is made in some far away place. had 5 of these so called iron clad nano puffs and returned every one of them. It was getting annoying that the threads always catch on branches and twigs and pull out and not to mention just walking from the office to my car was enough to pull several out on my sleeves. I think somehow they are not well made in the seems. Warm enough for fall maybe but i froze in Midwest winters with this jacket on. For the price of 229 id except a lot more. The down sweater was great but the pockets were not as warm as the nano and left my hands cold always.
