I play Hobbi bingo every Sunday! And use the points for yarns and access to their super sales after the games. I’ve never won but it’s just fun. I also love their mystery bags. If you love their cake yarns, get their mystery cake bags. The only thing that is wrong with them is that they don’t have the labels. Obviously you don’t know what you’re getting. I live in the US and I’ve ordered the mystery bags cakes, acrylic and cotton. All I loved.
I love Hobbii cottons (Rainbow and Farmer's Cotton) Twister and Sultan Deluxe, they are not the kinds of yarn I can find easily locally. Same goes with Universe, but them being 1 weight, their use is limited It is possible to double it up with a thicker yarn but then the colour changes of the yarn might disappear which would be waste. In that case I could just buy the metallic strand and double that. Hobbii sends often orders in multiple bags, possibly to avoid some kind of fee at their end. They used to send little gifts but I have ordered 4 times but I haven't got any this year. They used to also be a few boiled sweets I could share with my family but now I feel lucky to fond one. Now some of the yarn weights have been updated to include naming (Aran, DK, chunky etc) as well, to make it easier for international customers.
I think they stopped the sweets during covid and I was lucky enough to get a needle case in my last order. I know what you mean about the thinner yarns, but double stranding is a good option. I wonder what would happen with the colours too.
@@CosyRosieCrochet True, but the yarn is already quite expensive and doubling the yarn would also double the cost. I suspect the colours wouldn't match so the result would look like it's made variegated yarn. It's not a bad thing if you like it, but I think a single strand is more suitable for lacy shawl or a cover-up. :) They do have Universe XL which is supposed to be more like DK on thin side, but nevertheless I've seen review that show it's not the easiest yarn to frog... because of the wool content or the metallic thread?
I have ordered from Hobbii several times. I bought the butterfly yarn in the yellow and it's fabulous but quite small. It crochets up beautifully. I love their yarn. I haven't ordered cotton yarn but I did buy a Lucky Cake bag and it had cotton in it. I haven't used it yet. I'm a big fan of Hobbii. But I have to buy when on sale but also buy large orders.
I'm just waiting for hobbii bingo to start it starts at 11am here in western Canada. You picked beautiful yarn. I've never ordered from them. I put myself on a yarn buying hold. I went to the states and came home with a ton of yarn, I need to work on. They had an amazing deal on blanket yarn.
This is my first time seeing your channel and I loved it! I'm in NYC (Bklyn), and I've always wanted to try Hobbii yarns (I get their emails all the time) and other companies (like ICE), because I'm so tired of the same yarns that Michael's and other big box stores carries. The yarns you showed are gorgeous, thank you for explaining things so clearly and I love your enthusiasm and bright smile and I'm definitely subscribing- God bless you!! 😄🤗🗽💗🕊️🌹
I’m so pleased you found me Dora! I love Brooklyn - it’s been a while since I’ve been though. A lot of us in the UK would love to have stockists of Lion Brand and other US companies. Have to say, I do enjoy a good look around a Michael’s when I’m state side. 😊
I love the butterfly yarn and the first colour is gorgeous! I never knew about Hobbii bingo but will play every week now. Can you tell me what the yarn is on your shelf at the end with the two labels facing? It looks beautiful.
Hobbii bingo is so fun! The yarn behind me on the far left is Stylecraft Natruals Bamboo Cotton - love it! The one next to it is Lindy Chain from WeCrochet - also a fab yarn :)
Hobbii not only uses 8/4, 8/6 and 8/8 yarn. the description also says the yards, or meters. the 8/4 ist a 170 meter per 50 gramm which is 340 per 100 gramms and still thicker then a sockyarn. It is 4 ply. The 8/6 is 105 meter, and the 8/8yarn is 75 per 50 gramms.
Hi Cosy Rosie, Yay!. A fellow UK crocheter talking yarn haul! Thank you so much for making this video and talking about buying yarn outside of the UK. So glad l watched this particular video before making an impulsive purchase at Hobbi as their yarns are visually enticing. =) 🇬🇧
Bonjour Merci pour toutes ces explications. J’adore les fils Hobbi, ma préférée est la metalico très beau rendu, très douce et agréable à tricoter 🤩 i love it Bonne journée
I can't play bingo because you need a smartphone. I does not work on a computer. So I can not get a discount for Twister. But I bought "Yarnart Flowers" someplace else. It is exactly the same yarn and cheaper than Hobbii's sale price. I was not able to find the Butterfly yarn anywhere else though.
thats a shame that you can't access their app for the bingo - I think they also have live events in their Facebook group that might be worth checking out
The Butterfly yarns are really soft with a lovely drape. I’ve made a shawl and a poncho with them. I’ve been working on a dress with the Twister Solid in dark chocolate. You should also try Acacia from Hobbii. It’s also a cotton acrylic blend. It’s a little splitty but the dress I made for my daughter in sky blue is beautiful. It has a subtle shine.
Thank you so much for this information! 😍 I downloaded the app and will play it this Sunday! 😁 And ooh, those yarns really look so wonderful to work with! And I am a blue girl too! 🥰
Love the top you are wearing! I'm a beginner, perhaps I will cross that pattern, that is if, you did not just frr hand it! Very nice, thank you for your tips and insight! Made my first purchase 12-4-22, I'm way excited! Happy crafting,. lis/ Texas, USA
Nonya - I'm so excited for you to get your yarn shopping! The top I'm wearing is the Gloriosa Sweater pattern which will be released in the new year :)
Ooh - I love twisters! My friend B had a free guest post for a stunning rectangle shawl that is perfect for one cake here: fosbasdesigns.com/one-skein-shawl-pattern-shanae-wrap/
I would absolutely love to try out a couple of colours of their Sultan deluxe yarn cakes, I heard they are softer than the regular Sultans, however they are so very expensive at the moment so I am waiting for a discount hehe
I'm waiting to order some more yarn around my birthday so I can use my 10% off Definitely recommend waiting for the sales, I bought all my cake yarns on sale
If you need to return something you ordered and no longer wanted, you can ship back to them (at your cost) with your invoice and a full refund is automatically completed once it arrives back at the warehouse. It’s a good idea to let them know to expect your parcel to speed things up
Hi! So happy I’ve found your video. I’d be a new buyer at Hobbii, then you’d recommend them? Can you tell me aaannnything about the “Evergreen” line? Thanks a million in advance!
I haven’t tried that yarn but I’m aware it’s 100% wool. If you like natural fibres I’ve heard good things about the range itself. I’ve had great experiences with Hobbii every time I’ve ordered 😊
I have a number of balls of Evergreen in my stash. It's soft, squishy and the colors are rich. I plan to use it with some mohair...when I get around to it.
Beautiful yarn! I've never tried Hobbii yarns. I love your shirt...I am assuming you made it. Did you design it yourself? If not, do you have a pattern? Thanks!
I’ve just started working with the Hobbii twister ombred yarn ( 250g / 1000 meters). It’s beautiful to work with but I’m having trouble with’yarn barf’ / tangled yarn with every color change, this is frustrating and doesn’t make for a smooth crotcheting experience. Has anyone else had this experience?
100% this can happen! And very frustrating. My top tip is when untangling, start by gently untwisting from the yarn closest to the cake. Take your time and remember, it will come undone. Never pull too tightly as that will make the yarn knot on itself which is harder to undo. Use a shape sewing needle and insert it into the centre of any knots to loosen so you don’t pull the individual strands.
@@CosyRosieCrochet valuable advice thank you for replying so quickly, I’m on holiday and making a shawl in the Nordic winter color way which is beautiful, but this project is not transportable in the car whilst prone to tangling. Wish me luck 🍀.
I’ve made a shawl in the twister, I love the yarn and I’m just finishing one in blue fading to grey. The ombré effect on all the colours is beautiful.
They all work up so beautifully don't they!

Thank you so much for this video it’s saved me buying the wrong ply yarn in one of their rainbow packs 😊
I'm so pleased it helped - even I have to stop and double check every time!

They do have good offers all the time which helps 😊 I saw the yellow and bear bought that too 🤣
I did that light to dark with the redheart ogo halo yarn. Turned out beautifully too.

That’s a good point! The thicker the yarn the less length is in 50g!
All of they’re yarn is amazing, ordering for almost two years and always happy with it, Hobbii is my favorite place to order lovely yarn🧶🙌
