  • In part 3 we install the camshaft, degree the cam, and re-attach the timing cover. A Rollmaster adjustable timing set is used on this 292 Ford C2AE Y Block V8 engine.

Way back in 1962, a 17 year old me bought a 1954 2dr Post, Ford with a real 312 Y engine in it. I had a accidental mishap when I went to put a racing cam (Isky) in it while in the car. Everything went alright I thought (I used clothes pins and did not change the lifters) but when I fired it up oil was pouring out of the rear of the motor from the clutch inspection cover!! Somehow I don't know really how but I damaged the rear cam plug! I was very upset and went to my dad who was a mechanic for some "what do I do now" advice. He said let's pull the engine and see what the rest of it looks like. He determined it needed a rebuild as he found all sorts of things wrong with it. Which we did, he was methodical and a great teacher. The car turn out to be a good runner surprising a lot of the Chevy guys at the time. I went on to become a pretty good wrench and always a Ford man. I wish we had You Tube back in the day! Subscribed.

Thanks for the update Dan. I have a sleeve that fits the crank and takes the place of the damper for aligning the crank seal. You're angle iron system looks good for pan gasket seal also.

What if you have flat tap it you should tell how to keep the flat tappet from falling to the bottom of the oil pan

There are three videos in the series, the first video covers this in detail.
