Quite right. I grew up in NZ, live in Australia but my heritage is English, some Scottish, and I feel British and proudly so. The more I learn of our history the more I admire our forbears. Not always perfect, of course, but always better than the alternative. Compare North America to South America, Hong Kong to China, Australia to Bali or Thailand and NZ to the Pacific Islands. As an American I've always felt we were extremely fortunate to come out of the British empire. I can't imagine how we could have been so successful had it been otherwise. Here in the U.S., ever since the late 60's I've noticed something similar. Mostly academia and so-called intellectuals.

From Chaucer to John Milton to Shakespeare, from the Romantic poets Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelley and Keats, to the wonderful nineteenth century novelists Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, and George Eliot (what a woefully partial list!) - English literature is a priceless and beautiful heritage to be exceptionally proud of.

That's a fair comment but I think the West lacks the will to even defend itself in an argument in the 21st century.
The perpetual, steadily more appalling terror attacks across European cities over the last 20+ years, which have been greeted with increasingly apologetic apathy, resulting in more elaborate and self-loathing ways to look inwards and almost blame the victims instead of the murdering low IQ barbarians who were responsible, has shown this worrying trend of spineless appeasement.
Freedom of speech is all but gone thanks to political correctness/woke and the creeping influence of Islam - the most recent example being a school teacher who had to go into hiding OVER A PICTURE!! The ones making threats against that teacher should have been caught and jailed. (Maybe they have. I don’t know but highly doubt it.)
Rabble rousers, losers and looters can desecrate historical monuments and statues, almost with impunity and almost demand history be rewritten so as to avoid causing offence. The middle-class woke tossers who do get tried for vandalising historical monuments can now end up escaping being charged because they’re "on the right side of history.” I could go on......
The West hasn't got a single clue who it is as a collective any longer and if this country, or any other liberal Western European country, was invaded by a legitimate military force I’m convinced a sizeable portion of the public of these countries would light candles and wave them through.

As an American I've always felt we were extremely fortunate to come out of the British empire. I can't imagine how we could have been so successful had it been otherwise. Here in the U.S., ever since the late 60's I've noticed something similar. Mostly academia and so-called intellectuals.

This is true. Just look at last night Eurovision for one example. Twitter was abuzz with people 'shocked' that the UK was voted top song by the by many European jury members. Of course Ukraine won based upon politics and the sympathy vote. But it just goes to show how demoralised and defeatist we have become as a nation. It's a sad indicator of our times that even the very people that make this country supposedly 'great' self flagellate at every opportunity or simply fall into apathy. Meanwhile those who come here stand proud of their culture and indeed spread their ideologies through our institutions with no push back. In fact we actively welcome it with little to no resistance. Never be ashamed of your heritage. Never give in to bullies.

I often wish I was British. Of course, I know of Britain’s history, the good and the bad. But I’m in love with an idealized old fashioned fantasy. To me, being British means remaining steadfast, remaining calm, having a proper place for everything. It suits my logical personality. It can also mean empire, or in the modern sense, cooperation. Uniting the world.
Ignore this if you wish, I'm just another random person, however, if you want to save Britain you must absolutely not allow central bank digital currencies to become a thing. Everything rests on the money. Once they control that, it's game over for the next 1,000 years. Use cash everywhere you can and never ever ever give in to digital finance.
