Bird was best all around IMO..not only in skills, but he was arguably the greatest ever in the clutch. And he was also one of those rare players (along with Magic Johnson and Bill Russell) who made their teammates better players. This is why their teams always won. But it's still subjective..it boils down to who your FAVORITE player is.

Not LeBron, not MJ, NOBODY has ever gotten as close as 1 steal away from a quadruple double in the 3rd quarter (wish he hadn't taken himself out of that game). Larry was the FOUNDER of the 50/40/90 club, also.
Thank you for this one. Larry Legend videos never get old! Lol

Larry's biggest weakness was the fact that he had to play thru pain. He was injured many times and had multiple surgeries. He would have been even better and would have lasted a lot longer.

Nice to have you back - There is only 1 answer to who the best all around player is in NBA history and that is Larry Bird.
This is gonna be a LAP (Long Ass Post).
During Birds career he led the league 4 times in defensive win shares. If you add the number of times MJ and Lebron have done that in their careers you get ZERO!
Here is small sample of another stat. Larry Bird for his career averaged more defensive rebounds per game than
    Karl Malone
    Moses Malone
    Hakeem Olajuwon
    Shaquille O'Neal
    Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
    just to name a few.
If you look at the following categories
    Points per game
    FG%
    2pt FG %
    3pt FG%
    Foul shooting%
    Assists per game
    Rebounds per game
    Steals per game
    Blocks per game
    Minutes per game
Percent of games won they played in
There is only 1 player in NBA history that is in the top 250 players of all time in each of those categories and that is Larry Bird.
As a matter of fact, Bird is in the top 60 players of all time in 7 of the 11 categories I listed.
Jordan is outside the top 250 players of all time in 3pt FG% and rebounds per game and is in the top 60 of all time in 4 of the 11 categories.
Lebron is outside the top 250 players of all time in 3pt FG% and foul shooting % and is in the top 60in 5 of the 11 categories.

Larry Birds career defensive rating is 101.5 ......it was 98.2 in his Rookie year! Bird’s ability to impact both ends of the court made him a true legend in NBA history. 🏀🔥 He gets such a bad rap for defense for some reason! I dont get it.... only thing I can think of is because a lot of younger people just see the older LB..... when it was harder for him to do what he did before injuries slowed him down. Larry Bird could do everything that Magic could do but Magic couldn't do everything that Larry Bird could do! Larry Bird did all of this in 12 seasons due to being out one season because of surgery. It has taken Lebron twice as long to get the numbers he has ...to even come close to Larry Birds!

Both Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon literally said that Bird had no weakness in his game and was the most complete basketball player they ever saw. In reality, you could say all three had it. Notice something though. They all had killer instinct. Hakeem, just like Bird (until recently), doesn’t get as much love as he deserves, especially in that department. Ever know how the best of the best know “Different,” and they’re always mentioning each other? Let’s see. MJ, Bird, Magic, Kobe, Russell, Olajuwon…even Dominique if even a smidge below these guys. He didn’t win but had the heart of a lion. They all had killer instinct. Lebron recognized it. But he didn’t have it at all times. And the 2011 Finals really hurt him. That is why he has never been in this fraternity.

  • @jameylebel

Larry Bird. No question. His impact to the Celtics was immediate and with no additional help. His impact to the league? Only matched by Magic Johnson. Toughness? Unmatched. Clutch? Unmatched. Almost averaged 50/40/90 for career. Take away Birds injuries…..there would be no debate.
My biggest knock against Lebron is his toughness/clutch/and had to form a super team to win a championship.

He was a great team defender and disrupter and great off ball player. Dunking and 1 on 1 defense wasn't his best asset. For me still it's Bird best all around not only can pass rebound steel block defend or disrupt, but his shooting anywhere in the mid range three point range or in the post . I mentioned in another video that I watched they compared Larry Bird's 1986 three-point contest percentage in the final round. It was 73% now to put that into perspective in 21/22, Karl-Anthony Townes shot 72.50%, Stephen Curry shot 70% and 20/21 Damian Lillard shot respectively in 22/23 and 23 /24 65%. It's been 40 years and And look how much more that they shoot the three-pointer. To me that's amazing and to watch him do all that he did in person while it was happening that's why he has so many that fans that never forget how great he was. Great reaction missed your reactions ❤

Bird could score from the 3-point line, mid-range and the post, and he could use either hand. He is arguably the greatest passer basketball has ever seen. He averaged double digit rebounds for his career when basketball was played physical. He was on the NBA all defense teams 3 times. He led the Celtics to 32 more wins than they had the year before as a rookie. He led a not very talented Indiana State team to 33 straight wins before the national championship game. He is as clutch a player that has ever played. And he played injured and didn't take games off for pussy load management. In fact, the most amazing thing to me about THE LEGEND is that he was never fully healthy for 1 game of his professional career, having mangled his finger on his shooting hand before he signed his rookie contract. Oh, and he saved the game of basketball!! Those things make Bird EASILY the greatest ALL-AROUND player to ever pick up a basketball!!!!!!!

I truly don't think Larry Bird was that weak playing ''D' because he used his IQ and know what spot to be in at to challenge the ball at the right time. He didn't have to stick to a player all the time because he knew where to be before the player shooting the ball did, if that makes any sense. Larry's hurt body became his biggest weakness, not his playing.

Larry bird averaged 24 points 10 rebounds and 6 assists
Larry bird averaged 1.7 steals and .8 blocks per game (BOTH stats is more than both Kobe n lebron)
U WONT find another player like that.. in history. Statistically bird IS the most all around

Larry Bird is the best Al-Around player ever! If I had to create a five-man team only using one player to copy, it would be Larry Bird. If you pick someone like Jordan or Curry, the other four players wouldn't get the ball to be a factor. Same as LeBron James because the turnover ratio would
be so bad that it would defiantly interfere with them winning.

Agreed. The 5 Larrys would each do what was needed to win and work together. Imagine Larry passing to Larry at just the right moment in just the right spot. 😁

Larry was named to the NBA All Defender Team 3 times. So, yes he was a great defender. NOBODY, including Lebron can come near Larry Legend. He is the 🐐. End of story. He did EVERYTHING better.

Bird was as good a team defender as there ever was and has a higher steals+blocks / game average than Kobe

Yeah , Larry was a great defender. Bird did not guard the best player. Bird guarded everybody. His defense is that intangible you can t measure with stats. He grabbed those rebounds that mattered, he made the steals that matter. in rebounds, no one was able to position better than himself in a quick way. Basically, he had the defensive hustle. So, yes, Bird as the overall best and its not even close.

Seeing Elgin Baylor's name on top in that stats sheet !! Elgin was the player that brought those more modern moves and ball handling 🔥. The man was a good man on and off the court . He was involved in fund raising to save the Los Angeles Lakers way back .him and Jerry West or another player . Mr Baylor died 2yrs ago

Larry Legend by a mile.. hasn't been a better all around player since, and probably never will be. By far better than Magic, MJ, or Lebron. So SUCK on that who don't agree because if you don't then you don't know basketball 🏀 and I'm positive that people that really know basketball will agree 👍💯 don't get me wrong the players I mentioned are all excellent players. But not all around excellent like Legend. Legend was a great defender 😎 idk why people say he wasn't. Because people just wanna hate. Legend had no weaknesses. Awesome reaction keep up the good work 👍👏👏

F LaChina James!!!!!!!!!!!!! Larry Joe Bird beats all of LaChina James on all stats!!!!!! He has a higher average!!!!!!! Let be put it into words. In a game Larry Bird was one steal from quadruple double and he sat out the fourth quarter. They ask Larry if he wanted to go back in he said I did enough damage.

These videos fail to mention the #1 factor that made Bird the absolute GOAT. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY made his teammates BETTER than Larry Bird! Magic and Isaiah excelled at this as well. Jordan made his teammates downright the worst possible version of themselves with his selfish play. Lebron and even Kobe are also BAD in this category which is of course why most great players don’t want to be on their teams. It was brilliant team leadership that allowed Bird’s Celtics to go 6-0 vs Jordan in the playoffs. Brilliant team leadership is why the Celtics beat every other great team of that era while no other team can claim that. I wish this was spoken about more. I grew up watching Bird’s Celtics. I saw them in person many times. Bird’s leadership was a palpable thing. You could feel it. You could see it and the results bore it out. Basketball is a team sport. The real GOATS are Bird, Magic, Russell and Tim Duncan. The most overrated players are Jordan, Kobe, Lebron and Wilt. They all detracted from the talent of their teammates and, though their physical gifts and work ethic alone could win many games, they would ultimately fail against foes who were able to play superior team basketball.
