The Problem With LNB OUT Ports

I will demonstrate how to use the LNB OUT port. I will also explain how The Problem With LNB OUT Ports occurs. At the end of this video I will also show you a very simple solution of dealing with this problem.
The only purpose of the LNB OUT port is to connect a satellite decoder to another decoder. By doing this the second satellite decoder or TV will use the same satellite dish. A coaxial cable is connected from the LNB OUT port of one decoder into the LNB IN of the second decoder or TV.
The solution to this problem is to use a multi output LNB. As for my case, a twin output LNB mounted on the satellite dish will solve this problem. This functions as two LNBs but they utilize exactly the same satellite dish. Depending on the number of TVs that you want to serve from a single satellite dish, you can get a quad or even Octo LNB.

Horizontal and Vertical can work at the same time but not through the same cable. That's why you have LNB's with multiple outputs.
But there is a second detail. Beside horizontal and vertical polarization a modern LNB will switch between low band (10.7 - 11.7 GHz) and high band (11.7 - 12.75 GHz). This is because a standard coax cable can only handle frequencies up to around 2.5 GHz. But since frequencies below 900 MHz are used for antenna and cableTV and many people want to have one coax for antenna/cableTV and satellite usually there is only around 1 GHz available on the coax for satellite.
So either the 10.7 - 11.7 GHz is down-converted to 950 - 1950 MHz or 11.7 - 12.75 GHz to 1100 - 2150 MHz.
Switching to high band is done by sending a 22 kHz signal.
So in order to receive one complete satellite you need 4 cables:
- VL Verical low band 13 Volts
- VH Verical high band 13 Volts + 22 kHz
- HL Horizontal low band 18 Volts
- HH Horizontal high band 18 Volts + 22 kHz
A quattro LNB will not be able to switch between band and polarization but instead will always send VL on port 1, VH on port 2, HL on port 3 and HH on port 4. This is usefull when you want to use a multiswitch to distribute a satellite signal to all your TV's.
However there are special wideband LNB's which are able to convert the complete frequency block of one polarization at once. They convert the complete 10.7 - 12.75 GHz band to 290 - 2340 MHz and Vtotal on port 1 and Htotal on port 2. This is even more usefull for distribution especially when having mutiple dishes and/or satellites you want to receive so for each satellite you only require 2 cables and can do distribution with a wideband compatible multiswitch indoors.
But I said Horizontal and Vertical cannot work through the same cable, there are special LNB's which can put Horizontal and Verical on the same cable but you need special expensive coax which can a signal up to 5 GHz because it will use 0-2.5 GHz for H and 2.5-5 GHz for V. But these are not very common and popular. It's usually much cheaper to just use a two output wideband LNB with two standard 75 Ohm satellite graded coax cables instead.

Generally a 4.7 Micro farads and a 1K resistor in series will work fine
