Before the Police I do not ever recall associating reggae music with rock'n roll. They did that just like Elvis and the Beatles took Blues from the American South and turned it in to rock'n roll further demonstrating the transformational nature of music. I think this is a remarkable example of that.
mix of best music achievements of those times - punk and reggea - plus good old rock and roll and great talents. mr copeland - best drummer ever and mr sting bass player which could play with jaco pastorius in the band if he wanted to.
I still havent heard a better live version of this song than the one they did for the lost bbc tapes. But this one is pretty damn good and prob the best ive heard after the bbc version
3.47 Andy Summers starts his faboulous greek sound improvisation at the end of 'Can't stand losung you' for this world music elements The Police conquered the top lists around the world 👊💥🎸🎶🎵
How in the living fuck audio recordings from 1979 can sound this good? Lol I wish there was Van Halen recordings from this era with good sound quality :(
Well, yeah, because the Police were great, but this clearly sounds like it was taken from the mixer. In 1979, they didn't have anything like a 24-track digital recorder, so they couldn't just spew all 24 (or 48 or whatever) tracks to a digital recorder and then mix it later. But they could have created a decent 4-track mix off the board in advance just for recording. It would still be pretty darn good if they set it up right.
Es un traje de piloto, en esa época the police usó mucho de esos oufits, se pueden apreciar en varias fotos desde 1977 al 79 y obviamente en la portada de Outlandos
I could watch Stewart Copeland for the rest of my life, and still never get bored with his drumming.
he is absolutely fantastic to watch, to listen to, and practically impossible to copy

Maestro on the drums, Maestro on guitar, and Maestro song writer and very under rated bass man. Simply put MAESTRO BAND.
Sting's bass playing is underrated by precisely NOBODY who knows even the slightest thing about music.
@@ivanjulian2532a lot of people think he’s praised for bass just because he’s a great singer and songwriter. But Sting can OBVIOUSLY play bass well.
What a power trio! Three superb parts of a greater whole.
Nothing better than this band
The Ruts.
Universally liked by a college graduate of the 80's, thanks guys, we love you !
This song became the group's first Top 10 hit in the UK and Ireland, reaching Numbers 2 and 7 respectively in July 1979.
WOW! They were killing it here.
Standing in the crowd they could never have imagined they were watching history!
Mr Copeland, best drummer ever
jesus H. christ, the stuff Andy Summers can do with the strings of a guitar
Couple of cool effect dont hurt either ;)
Great energy they had back in the 70s.
Who’s still listening to this in 2018! This video highlights just how amazing the police were as a live band relative to their contemporaries in 2018.
Impresionante el flaco Copeland al final!!

singing and playing a fretless, Sting rocks!!

I'm going to assume that dislike was an error by an inebriate.
I have this concert on bootleg. This was the encore song and they played it slightly different... Brilliant...
just WONDERFUL !!!!

Cause oldschool warm analog sounds way better then this new digital shit!
Sensacional!!
kick ass vocals!!!!!!!!
Andy is the secret weapon in this band.
He plays so many interesting things instead of the same old bar chords.
LOVE THIS SONG HERE BRASIL 🇧🇷😎 👌 📻 🎶 🎼
great song
an admirable Pop for many
Copeland is just fantastic
Will do. Cheers.
@SWTCH1NGSIDES it's a fretless bass
bass loop sting is wonderfull to final
I've thought this a few times as well. There are more than a few Police songs that would especially benefit from this execution.
A little Sting goes a long way...
Losing you is a bloody nightmare!!!!
Copeland is bad ass
total adrenallyne
@EiDy2 What are you talking about? Stuart and Andy are both singing backup here.

@njl202 Sting did his own harmonies on the recorded version.
I can hear them fine. Perhaps it's just you. :-)
ANYOONE ELSE HERE SINCE THE CORONA VIRUS 😂
Quadrophenia time? That haircut!!
no homo but dude u r so right lol
Is this rock goes to college?
Right
Before he perfected his voice.
your comment says the contrary
2:20 ooh men 😑harry belafontine banana boat ? Daylight come ...
RIGHT-HAND Ciao Mi piacciono la musica dei Police forza Roma e Canosa di Puglia
Sting dressed like Michael Myers from Halloween 😳
where did the harmonies go?
At some point they lost this magic playing live... and it never returned. Just watch the Rock in Rio 2007 comback videos to know what I mean.
you are dead on my friend
it was awesome up until the "day-ooo" crap...and quoting harry belafonte.....but the Police are cool
Totally Tubular...you know?! lol
Why? People on TH-cam should be here, not on Nicki Minaj's video!
