Including as a speeding drummer LoL. Anyway, nothing but respect for the legendary Stewart Copeland, who, along with Sting and Andy, each are an important part of the chemistry which made The Police become a legendary great band
You can see him get (understandably) pissed when Sting takes that little shot toward the end "don't slow down" when he was not slowing down. He ends the song with gritted teeth and a scowl and it's easy to see why.
@@joejohnson6321No they didnt! They formed as more of a punk band. Stewart Copeland was in a prog rock band called Curved Air and Sting was in a jazz band called Last Exit. Andy had been a session musician for many years before joining
Musical legends. Sting's ability to play fretless without sliding around or using vibrato just goes to show the accuracy of his intonation. And as for Copeland? I mean, what is there to say? 👌🏻
Listen to the fast rhythms of Copeland and the incredible harmonics of Andy Summers plus Sting driving his vocals and bass playing! Amazing band with a unique and exotic hybrid sound! 😮😊
@@stephenstone8480 Jimi took rock and roll blues to a new level. Clapton and Beck merely did what hundereds in London were doing at that time. Andy went the other way; he re-fingered all the traditional chords. Plus he could rip blues or jazz solos at will. Before the internet, no one knew how to play his songs. Based on what are you making your claims?
Sting had a monster solo career, Andy did a lot of great instrumental albums (including his two with Robert Fripp) and Stewart did soundtracks and operas as well as other groups, but The Police were irreplaceable in my mind. So sad they never reunited and did more albums together.
I always wanted an Ibanez musician fretless, strange how they stopped producing such a good looking bass for those thin melted looking ones they make now.
I wonder if The Edge was influenced or inspired by Andy. I hear the guitar riffs of Electric Co. being birthed when listening to this live performance. I have heard the album version a thousand times and never had this thought until hearing this live version
The very basic instrumentation of Rock (the same instruments Elvis had when he started out) and all 3 members doing vocals maybe the best band ever!!!!!
Strange how a group this good ended up on the “naff” side of the line, when other much more less talented bands (New Order, Echo and the Bunnymen etc) ended up being revered by the press. Just watched some live Pulp footage, it’s like thin gruel compared to this. The Police introduced more white people to reggae than The Clash ever did.
Stewart Copeland is a LEGEND!!!

Yesssssss❤
@@danhamilton8152That’s a stretch
The police... what a good group. Thank you for this gift... long live rock... a big hug from Lima Peru ❤
5:40 Stewart eating watermelon... classic.
He did it other times?
Sting ate pineapple July 1982 Gateshead Uk
Organic music
This band is quite odd, but perfect in their own unique way. Besides that they are great!
They actually formed as jazz band.
@@joejohnson6321No they didnt! They formed as more of a punk band. Stewart Copeland was in a prog rock band called Curved Air and Sting was in a jazz band called Last Exit. Andy had been a session musician for many years before joining
Great Song of The Police Band... Countdown Thanks for Sharing 👍👍👍
Excellent song by the police can't stand losing you 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁
Awesome🎸🎶
3:50 - Stewart drops his stick, doesn't miss a fucking beat. That is called beast mode on the throne.
Stewart Copeland, what a master drummer
not just an incredible band, but elite musicians here
Good to hear Andys vocal parts clear.
Wow, what a performance, what a trio! Probably the best three piece in the history of rock. Everybody is on fire here, just as good as on record.
Keep your eyes on the Police, they are going to be HUGE!
❤❤❤❤❤

The guys really are on fire here.Wow.
Andy Sumner is the most underrated guitarist in the world! What a PERFECT FIT for The Police.
the bass, the drums, the guitar and the vocals, all top tier!!!
Sting just didn't appreciate what an amazing drummer he had
He did understand it. He couldn't allow the spotlight to shine on anyone else.
God has his favourites
Andy Summers' work, amazing.
Listen to the fast rhythms of Copeland and the incredible harmonics of Andy Summers plus Sting driving his vocals and bass playing! Amazing band with a unique and exotic hybrid sound! 😮😊
Really hoping the Walking on the Moon and Message in Bottle clips appear shortly- this concert sounds fantastic!
Summers face of disgust at the guitar tuning was great.
one of the great live performances by Sting, Steward and Andy
Stewart probably the all Time cymbal master ❤
Had forgotten there was a time when Sting (Gordon Sumner) played a fretless bass. He’s played that well-traveled P-Bass for much of his career.
He's got a brand new signature model for the 3.0 tour.
Also very odd to see the old police stuff where he plays the black Steinberger or the white Spector
I can’t stop thinking it has some prog rock and reggae roots

I dare any guitarist, including clapton, to try to imitate and replicate what Andy's doing with harmonics in the bridge after the second chorus.
I'll name two for starters...Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck could play circles around Andy Summers...and by the way...Clapton could, too.

Pretty easy to do for intermediate guitarist, but still mad respect for this band. They had such a unique sound not matched since.
Ya double dog dare me?
@@andrewprice7988 Try it, and then come up with something on your own equally beautiful and original.
People forget how HUGE this band was before their premature breakup.
Brings me back to 15 and rockin to early Police!
Regatta de blanc 🔥🚨🚀
WHOA...holy crap could they play!
Awesome. Little advert by Bowie at the end. Must of been an excellant show 😊
A short few years later they were top of the world, then they stopped.

Merci.
Stuart eating a watermelon while playing is crazy af he a true hero 😂😂
One of the earliest times seeing Tama drums on the big stage!!!!!!
Ludwig snare and Zildjian cymbals
Stewart is one of the few drummers that makes the drums sound interesting instead of just like another dude playing the drums
Goosebumps. Still can feel the energy. Incredible.
Look at that CROWD! MENTAL!
Now what's the word? Ah yes, "perfection" !
SO GOOD. No wonder they were stars. 👏🏻👏🏻

must've been a great gig that night in Voorburg NL
The very basic instrumentation of Rock (the same instruments Elvis had when he started out) and all 3 members doing vocals maybe the best band ever!!!!!
The myth that Buddy Holly started the basic Rock instrumentation of 2 guitars a bass and a drummer just a myth Elvis did!!!
Stewart Copland is so damn good.

Great concert. You can tell Stewart is a little uncomfortable with his kit. It’s ackward having better rack toms with traditional grip.
what do you mean? stewart always plays on his tama kit!
How did they fit Sting's ego into such a small space?
hhahahaha lol

Andy and Stuart were real artists. Sting got only the big mouth.
? Dude he’s playing a fretless bass in 1979 in a post punk band. That takes skill, talent and balls….
