I run both. I replace the 1.5 spring. I use #2 music springs. They had good too. I even bought few duke 1.5 rubber jaws. Replaced the 1.5 springs with #2 music springs. I caught several otters in 1.5 blind sets for coons.
Just me- the Dukes I have were way too flexible in the frame, so I welded the cross frames, and added the flat base plates. Takes away the flex and the bowing. Well worth the dollar and a quarter and the 2-3 minutes welding time
A 1.5 will hold a coyote expecially if it's 4 coil a 1.75 Bridger has smaller jaw spread then a 1.65 and I've caught coyote in a 1.75 2 coil that's only 1/4 inch wider jaw then a 4 coil 1.5
I run both, but I agree for footholds bridger is alot more ready to go out of the box, bodygrips are the opposite, I have some small bridger bodygrips that won't even reliably fire because the spring eyes are too small to fit over the "swivel" point of the jaws, so Duke wins there
I love the details you mention. Thank you,I just made up my mind which traps to buy for coons.

I thought about trying some #2 springs in them for extra holding power.

My duke 1.5 gave all had the wild river pans installed and the chain replaced. For the money the Bridger is a better trap and bargain.
