Great sandwich spread. Yummm!
That's what I was thinking. Or on crackers. Leave off the flour though. Get hungry on the trap line? Eat your bait. LOL.
Thank you for the paste !! I made it threw it in a box with beaver 120 in front 2days got a super nice Mink !!! Thanks for the recipe !!! Awesome stuff !!!
Thank you much for showing how to make the paste for the critters.Real nice show
Thanks NBWildman.
Was hoping to get into trapping this season (2020/21), but didn't play out. Though hoping that this new year will prevail.
And with this Wicked homemade bait...I'm positive they'll be running in for miles, especially the otters.
Thanks, looks like it will work great!! I live about 25 min from Dakotaline so ill have to go see what they got!
Thanks very much for the reply's.
It will work for muskrat never thought it would nice
Great job, and good Idea...
Iam with ya brother the bait works great for the racoons hear in kentucky
Guess I’ll have to buy two cans of sardines, oysters and mackerel since I also like them. Thanks for the info.
I will try and get you a video on my pipe sets soon.
you can freeze it or store it in the fridge if you like, if I was going to keep it a long time I would freeze it, just be sure to thaw it gradually.
I made this last year and left the jar lid on and had it on a shelf in the living room. Came home from work one night to it exploded all over the ceiling and walls. Lol boy was that a mess. Never did get to try it.
Is there any possibility of you showing the fur or captured animals? This might be helpful to show that you’r sets and bates work. Thank you sharing your technics.
Where are you from? I noticed you have Dakota Line Shell Fish Oil. I'm From Lennox
that would work great on grey fox also bobcat put some castor or sac oil in also it works great for anything with fur.....glycerine would work good to get your bait active in cold weathers...do you K9 and cat trap?
Whats the shelf life of this stuff? If not long can you add something to make it last longer? And if you want it like play dough i suggest trying corn starch instead of flower.
If I can't get shellfish oil, Is there something else I can substitute? Your raccoon paste bait work great! Thanks!
Is the Canola Oil essential for the recipe or is it just used to help make it waterproof?
Our muskrat season opens here in Pa. on Nov. 23, I plan to make this recipe. I am finding a lot of muskrat skat on logs and rocks along the creek bank, but not finding any muskrat holes or dens. Do you think i would be a good idea to just put a pipe set in any area i am finding the scat?
hey, yes you should always set on sign. I never really worry about dens, just use a bank pocket set anywhere close to the scat....or you can always use a floater if it's in some calm water
In the video you talked about having a bad stomach, I'm sure the consistency and color of it would help with a bad stomach as well. Most of that can all be bought at Dollar store can't it?
I wonder if you can catch a Bob cat with that kind of lure ?
How long will it last and storage. Do you refrigerate.
Is there any shelf life to this bait? How close to the season do u wait to make it? Seems to me you'd want it freshly made. Does that other bait you make with the CERTO in it last awhile?
BHoS Sparrow I make it and freeze it, seems to work fine, I just stir it up and go. the certo one lasts just as long or longer
fresh bait isn't always the best. it depends on what kind of bait and what your trapping for.
NB Wildman do you ever get bear coming to your sets ?
not usually with this bait, i use only a small amount of it so bears are usually a non issue.
If you couldn't get any shellfish oil or any fish oil would that paste be just as good ?
Will fish oil work instead of the shell fish oil?
I have used fish oil, but it does not work as well. the smell of the shell fish is super strong and carries a long distance
I snack on oysters and sardines.
How do the muskrat like this? I was under the impression they ate more plants than anything.
they do in the wild, but i use this bait almost exclusively with my pipe sets (see videos on NBWildman) and i catch lots of rats on this each season...something about the smell i would say.
@@NBWildman I feel like a lot of forbearers are more curious than "coming for food"
Can you describe your pipe set?
i'll try and get you a video before the end of the week, describing my pvc pipe and pvc pocket sets. if I don't make it i'll send you the details
If it weren't for the shellfish oil this would not make it to the trapline
more sheel fish oil
I know this sounds dumb, but do you keep this concoction in the ice box between checking traps? One more thing my wife can "discover" on the bottom shelf....right next to my wax worms and nightcrawlers, hehe:-)
you should sell it to people
I just freeze minnows and crawfish and frog scraps and cut up normal fish like bluegill trout carp and freeze that I tried this really didn’t work as good as what I do I think it’s just because that normal fishy smell
last night a mink shredded my chicken coop door and killed some of them. it's on like donkey kong now.
Do you ever get feral cats? I have them marauding my sets now and then. But they are thinning out .BAHAHAHA
I thought muskrats were vegetarian animals? Muskrats eat fish?
They are mainly herbivores but they eat more than plants when plant life is scares in certain areas or depending on the time of year.
Wil a raccoon get in there
I caught 62coons in blind sets for mink...no thanks
Oh my,... There has got to be a better way... I can't stand the fishy smells... I would literally puke with a small whiff of it.
