For most of the show until this episode, Tenzin to me is seen as solely Aang's son. But when he stands there, nearly too weak to stand, but regardless of himself says that "as long as I draw breath its not over," that to me was 100% Katara's inner strength right there. I swear when I first saw it I was like "Now THAT is Katara's son right there."
Tenzin wasn't just winning the 1v, I'm pretty sure he coulda taken on 2, and he was holding his own against 3. It took all 4, including sniping from the sky, to take him down. Tenzin's the GOAT.

20:32 Tenzin does Aang’s move in the intro! There is a slight difference between them though. In the intro, Aang’s foot kinda goes limp and hangs showing his goofy kid personality while Tenzin is stiff, pointed, very serious. Throughout the fight as well Zaheer never landed one proper hit on Tenzin until the rest of the Red Lotus showed up. Zaheer is Master martial artist who observed airbenders and later gained airbending. Tenzin is a Master airbender trained by the Avatar himself. Zaheer didn’t stand a chance on his own.
Tenzin would've won the 3v1 on the ground. Maybe pull off the 4v1 if they were all on the ground. But an orbital strike sniper just floating in a circle while he's also getting jumped by the other 3 is too much. Look at the way he was moving when it was just those 3. And Zaheer, Mr. Menacing Agressive Airbending was literally on the run from Tenzin from the jump. In every other fight, he's been doing the dominant ting. Here? This man was running. Let it not go unnoticed.
Credit to Zaheer, it was a smart play to draw Tenzin away from his siblings, because in a 3v3, I reckon they could've taken the Red Lotus. Tenzin could very nearly have taken them down by himself.
What if I told you.... Is that the last episodes of season 3 were even better than this one?? 🤔 And yeah Tenzin would've cleaned out Zaheer. I love that they showed Tenzin and his true mastery in air bending while they showed Zaheers lack of true practice. Tenzin has like 40+ years of practicing air bending by one of the greatest air benders of all time, who also happened to be the avatar. Zaheer may have studied air bender culture and studied forms, but he could never actually practice cause he wasn't always a bender. It clearly shows Tenzin moving in circles constantly, like Bagua, (Which Is what Air Bending is based off of) and Zaheer just forcefully pushes himself upwards cause that's all he knows. Its like watching a true master fighting a gifted amateur. Some Bruce Lee vs some prodigy that doesn't have nearly as much experience type beat. It's hella awesome to see Tenzin schooling him the whole fight, because we have rarely seen Zaheer lose a one on one fight in this season. We told you Aege, the best of Korra rivals the best of avatar. Shits crazy 🤪

Honestly, Bolin and Meelo together give me Aang and Sokka vibes. Together naturally, very definition of the last 2 brain cells. But together focused?? There is literally NOTHING they couldn't do.
I believe the writers showing Bolin and makos grandmother as they did was more than just saying she’s crazy, although that’s not completely off. She is the embodiment of what zaheer is trying to prevent and get rid of. She is so blindly devoted to her oppressor because it’s the only thing she understands, to be loyal and subservient without asking questions. She holds the queen to the status of a God yet doesn’t even know what kind of person she is. Zaheer is trying to break these cultural and political norms which has resulted in the chaos that ensued. The chaos might seem worse than how it was previously but the way zaheer sees it, it is only when this blind obedience and “balance” are taken away and replaced with chaos, that the people themselves have the freedom to create their own beliefs, systems, and morality
It’s so cool to see all three of Aang and Katara’s kids fighting together against the Red Lotus. And the thing is I barely realized that the first time bc of how hype everything else is
It's wild to me that the same writers wrote Book 2 and Book 3. This season might be the most consistent book across both shows. It feels like every episode is either good or fantastic. Even Book 2 and Book 3 of ATLA had mediocre episodes sprinkled in there.
Honestly at this point of the show I felt like it reached ATLA levels of quality, incredible season, oh and Tenzin was dominating zaheer before his bros showed up
Ok, but look at how Zenzin and Zaheer both have much more aggressive styles of airbending than Aang. Tenzin is mixed airbender-waterbender who grew up with Lin while Zaheer trained as a nonbender before becoming an airbender. This show has some really good show don't tell moments when it comes to worldbuilding!
Imagine being those of us who were forced to wait a week to see if Tenzin lived. Tenzin is my favorite LOK character, so I was about to flip some tables and make a whip out of a length of rope.
When I was seeing this I really wish we would have gotten a flashback at episode 4 of Tenzin, Tonraq, Sokka and Zuko vs Red lotus trying to kidnap toddler Korra they mentioned. I think it would have been Master Swordfighter Sokka vs Zaheer for the sake of non-bender vs non-bender. Or Sokka boomeranging P'li just like he did to Combustionman.
The fact that Kya was able to hold her own against Ming Hua for so long and she wasn't even raised or trained as a fighter... she was trained to be a healer primarily, but she stays putting the work in
Age DID NOT DISAPPOINT. One of the best reactors out here At the very beginning of the season, I commented in a video something along the lines of "Lord Zuko said any of those members of the Red Lotus could, individually, take down any army, and together, any nation. This testament is put to the test throughout the season" expecting this very moment. Idk where most people get the idea that Tenzin couldn't absolutely body Zaheer, as far as we know, Zaheer didn't land a single hit, judging by Tenzin's appearance, and he has managed to put up a fight with anyone so far in the season. But not Tenzin. IT TOOK THE WHOLE RED LOTUS TO DEFEAT TENZIN. Even if briefly, he did not hesitate and put up a fight with Zaheer, Ming Hua and Gazham simultaneously. Only issue was P'Li sniping. That man is a monk.... Personally, this is not only one of my favorites episodes of the entire franchise, but the episode as a whole is one of the most compelling arguments against Korra haters, specially since a good portion of AtLA and LOK fans consider this season the best of the franchise....

One thing I love thinking about in this episode is how exactly Zaheer managed to hold his own against the greatest airbender in the world, after getting airbending a week ago. And honestly, I think it comes down to who was on the attack. Zaheer was running from Tenzin almost the whole fight, and that is air bendings specialty. Avoid and evade. Fire power isn't something air bending really has going for it, And tenzin never getting a good hit in on Zaheer it's a perfect showcase of that.

Yo Aege the next series you start you should do it like an arc at a time or maybe like 3-4 episodes per video, so you can binge then do a recap every few. (I’d suggest trying black clover) or the expanse

Idk where most people get the idea that Tenzin couldn't absolutely body Zaheer, as far as we know, Zaheer didn't land a single hit, judging by Tenzin's appearance, and he has managed to put up a fight with anyone so far in the season. But not Tenzin. IT TOOK THE WHOLE RED LOTUS TO DEFEAT TENZIN. Even if briefly, he did not hesitate and put up a fight with Zaheer, Ming Hua and Gazham simultaneously. Only issue was P'Li sniping. That man is a monk....
Personally, this is not only one of my favorites episodes of the entire franchise, but the episode as a whole is one of the most compelling arguments against Korra haters, specially since a good portion of AtLA and LOK fans consider this season the best of the franchise....

One thing I love thinking about in this episode is how exactly Zaheer managed to hold his own against the greatest airbender in the world, after getting airbending a week ago. And honestly, I think it comes down to who was on the attack. Zaheer was running from Tenzin almost the whole fight, and that is air bendings specialty. Avoid and evade. Fire power isn't something air bending really has going for it, And tenzin never getting a good hit in on Zaheer it's a perfect showcase of that.

Yo Aege the next series you start you should do it like an arc at a time or maybe like 3-4 episodes per video, so you can binge then do a recap every few. (I’d suggest trying black clover) or the expanse
Iroh may be in one episode for 5 seconds but even that's enough to make him the best character of the episode/season.
actually, tenzin would take the 4 of them by himself, only when the combustion chick appeared that did take him off, 5 of them, if he counters the 4 of them the combustion lady would shoot him down so by that you can see the difference between a true master and some randoms who wanna take over the world >:T
