Zaheer didn't manage to land a single shot until the others stepped in. Tenzin really showed what true mastery of the element looked like vs excellent combat skill supplemented with air bending. In the previous seasons, I was a little disappointed with not seeing opportunities for Tenzin to show off his air bending skills, so this was so damn satisfying.
Foreal the fight was like a video game were the talented novice goes up against a veteran player and gets washed. Zaheer was skilled but he cpuldnt hang with a real Airbending master
Airbending is definitely a fighting technique to respect, but previous seasons had him fighting against mecha tanks and dark spirits; definitely not the best element for those two. Meanwhile, Zaheer faced waterbenders, firebenders, and metalbenders without breaking a sweat, and only really struggled against Tenzin.
I get chills everytine Tenzin says, "yes i do". Its hard to see tenzin being beat up like that. He is Aangs son, the only airbending master, and he is protecting the new air nation 😢

Honnestly i love the fact that they had to team up against tenzin to beat him ... i mean first it shows strong tenzin is but also... How many times in animes or games do we see the good guys team up to beat one STRONG vilain and yet we never call it unfair lol... so having the bad guys team up to defeat the good guy is pretty cool i feel like
Tenzin really shocked me like CRAZYYYY this episode I never seen him get down like that, I honestly thought Zaheer was gonna demolish Tenzin but they had to jump him to win. I ain’t know Tenzin was powerful like that

When benders fight 1v1 it usually comes down to "and this one was stronger and won" or sometimes some other thing like "and one of them dug deep down and got the power they needed to defeat their enemy" But when it's a team against another, there's so many moving pieces and everything makes sense on the small scale, yet it's all happening so fast that you can't immediately guess who wins. It makes sense Tenzin beats Zaheer. It makes sense Ming Hua beats Kya. It makes sense P'li stays at range. It makes sense that Bumi would fight dirty and it's clear Gazaan beats Bumi in a straight fight but not clear what happens if Bumi gets creative enough. Team fights are really great in Avatar and should have been used more.
Great points, although I’m not sure Bumi would have a chance even with all the creativity in the world haha - unless he learns the suffocation move Zaheer used on the Earth Queen or something
This episode is simply amazing; just the opening of Ba Sing Se in pure chaos is both shockingly terrifying and beautifully animated, but the highlight of the episode has to be the duel between Tenzin and Zaheer. It is the first airbender duel in the entire franchise and not only is the choreography on point, but you realize you can also literally see on screen how different their bending techniques are, despite having the same type of bending! Notice how Tenzin evades every of Zaheer's attacks while landing some (although to be fair, Zaheer did manage to avoid one or two) and even does that iconic T-pose you see Aang do in the intro!
This is by far my most favorite episode and literally the only time I actually cried seeing Tenzin being brutalized by everyone and with the sad music and camera panning away so you don’t have to see the worst of it is so chilling and heartbreaking since Tenzin has more of a character arc then anyone else and it peaks in this moment where he would die to by time for the other air nomad to flee for safety and that would make any die hard ram tear up.
zaheer was just using his martial arts prowess in airbending but tenzin is an air bending master. He knew that he couldnt take tenzin all on his own thats why he kinda baited tenzin up the wall so that combustion woman can snipe tenzin for him.
@@losikasame1541I think he would've been fine had he not been jumped. Once he got jumped he took too much damage, and then wasn't able to do much. Until he got hit by the other and combustion, he was moving fine. I am not saying he would win easily, but just that it wouldn't be as bad
Imo zaheer is kinda overrated (as a bender not as a villain). He is natutally good but only compared to all the newbies airbenders. Because when you compare his movements to aang and tenzin, ou realize he is not as fast, light and fluid as them and he is kinda sloppy

We are past the episode that mentioned it but zaheer was training to be korra elemental teacher if they had captured her when she was little so he has studied airbending was capable of at least teaching it. That's why his knowledge of airbending is so advanced in comparison. But still no match for a true master like tenzin. He only survived the fight because he was continuing to run away until his friends could help.

When u find out Korra actually almost killed ppl in the next two episodes she fit ming wa with that rock ,almost kills gazan with his own lava and throws a small Mountain on zaheer ,she was out for blood
Let the record show that Tenzin would have won the 3v1. It really took all four of the most highly specialized benders in the world to take down Tenzin.
Tenzin was destroying Zaheer and i'm sure he would beat each 4 of them in 1vs1. He was actually holding of 3 of them at the same time. If P'Li from above wasn't bombing him Tenzin would win against Zaheer and even if he didn't won against all 3 of tem then he would be able to hold Zaheer, Ghazan and Ming Hua for enough long to escape. Red Lotus won this fight just because they were playing dirty. Tenzin is actually so OP, the first 2 season were kinda disappointing with Tenzin fights so i'm so happy he got justice in this fight.
I don't know if it was intentional, but Zaheer was smart to lead Tenzin away from Bumi and Kya. If they had all stayed together there's a decent chance they could have won.

Bolin being a lava bender made so much sense. His parents being fire and earth benders. I was so hype when i watched this for the first time.
