I have 14 watches in my watch collection and, by far, my favorite is my Tissot Gentleman with the Navy Blue dial. I have several watches in my collection that are double the price of the Gentleman, but the Tissot, in terms of looks, just comes out ahead. It is about as close as someone like me, with modest means, will come to getting a Grand Seiko level of luster on a watch. I have Teddy to thank for introducing me to the Gentlemen. I have been enamored with the watch, and Teddy's channel, ever since.
Great video! My first big watch purchase was the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 with a dark blue dial 3 weeks ago. Saw your Tissot Gentleman video and knew that it was the one I wanted, loving it! ⌚
I’m approaching 3 years with the Gentleman. I find it sporty with its wide bezel. Similar look to Aquaterra for low price. Wears smaller on a strap. Mine is blue and I wear it on a dark blue Tissot strap. Great for the office.

This 40mm size is great for my 7.25” wrist. And I for one really like the bracelet-just don’t understand the negativity about it. Bracelet is comfortable, I like the look of the polished center links, and it’s sturdy. To me, the bracelet compares favorably with my Mido or Christopher Ward bracelets. I tried straps on my Gentleman, but didn’t like the look as much-especially since that area between the lugs (hidden with bracelet; visible with strap) has an matte, bead-blasted type finish that stands out from every other surface and not in a good way-almost like it’s unfinished.
It would actually wear better if the bracelet had female endlinks. For all of the hype, the PRX is a dismal fail for me, as the endlinks don't articulate at all. The 40 wears way too large, because of this design fault, whilst the dial on the 35 is tiny. Some very simple adjustments to the bracelets would sell a bunch more of these for Tissot.
I got a Gentleman 2 years ago as a graduation gift for myself. I have a 6.5 inches wrist and it’s definitely on the larger side for me. The lug to lug distance is on the limit of what I can wear, but it is so versatile; I have used it on leather straps for weddings and special occasions, on the bracelet for the office and in sailcloth, canvas and rubber straps for the weekend, it may not be the perfect watch for all those scenarios, but it definitely doesn’t look out of place. Still I would like to see a 37 or 38 mm version
I purchased the green dial variant last year, prepared to hate the bracelet. I purchased a really nice green leather strap off the Etsy website. I have 6 3/4 inch wrists, but found the bracelet better than expected. However, the leather strap was perfect, and I have been wearing it ever since I swapped it out. The bracelet would be way better if the center links were brushed and it had female endlinks.
My wrist is even smaller at 6.05 and while this watch may lean in the larger direction I think a 39mm would be just perfect. I already have a 38 mm Casio which looks small on my wrist in my opinion, and 40 or more starts to look big.

I own a Gentleman in green. It's a great watch that gets many compliments. However, having waited for some time for a "new" Gentleman (and being somewhat bombarded with versions of the PRX) I'm not wooed by just a dial color variant. Especially when *light blue*, "ice blue" and (dare I say) "Tiffany blue" have been done. I feel Tissot should have given us something more. Perhaps a GMT or a small seconds. That said... I'm sure I'll get one because it's a beautiful watch and a great value.

I am leaning towards the navy blue, but this one is winning me over. I originally wanted the green dial, but i dont like that crosshair on the dial on the green one.
I've had the blue dial for approximately 18 months. It is a great watch and gets lots of wrist time for me. The bracelet, though, is underwhelming and has been replaced with a dark brown leather strap which looks really good with this watch.
Really like this watch! The green dial version has really caught my eye since I already have a few blue dial watches, but I will definitely have to check this color out now. Great video as usual Teddy!!!
I really like the gentleman watch but my biggest gripe with this watch is the polish parts of it. Very prone to scratches. I wish Tissot had made a brushed finished Gentleman. Love the dark dials with the gentle sunburst effect.
@@frblaze2 scratch is inevitable..there will be scratch..no doubt..if there is scratch in the polish accents it will not be as visible as in the more/big polished parts. That’s my take
I started in this watch world earlier this year and fell directly in love with the Gentleman although I did not buy it first. Went for another watch (Glashutte) only to sell it to get the gentleman which I simply could not forget. Amazing watch.

The PRX Powermatic 80 in 35mm is still the best everyday watch for the price for us, the small wrist community. I see it everywhere in watch blogs and online watch groups. Tissot knocked it out of the park with that latest release. I really can't wait to see the Gentleman in 36mm. That would be another home run for Tissot.
@@jattytakeover7099 I haven't heard anything but great comments from actual watchmakers. I do own the PRX Powermatic 80, and I'm good friends with my Tissot AD here in town. Yes, it's not a movement that you can adjust at home (like an NH35, for example), but it most certainly can be serviced/repaired by a watchmaker. Now, if, for some reason, your AD can't fix the issue, there are no parts or labor costs if you send it to Tissot. Recently got the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium with the blue dial after wearing a Seiko Alpinist for the last 6 months. Some initial complaints: no micro adjustment on the bracelet is a pretty big bummer considering the price point. A screw down crown would have been nice. Also at 40mm it just misses that 38.5mm to 39mm sweet spot, the case might be just a bit on the big side for very small wrists. Its a great watch, tremendous bargain if you can get it on a holiday sale.
Bought a tissot gentlemen a few years ago with a silver dial, absolutely love it, it just seems to work for all occassions, formal or casual it just looks the part
Your video of the gentleman was also total 🔥🔥🔥. The watch is awesome but you sold the sxxt out of it, let’s be real. I haven’t yet bought the PRX and I’m kind of glad of that, I’m cooling on the style. Still wear my blue dial Gentleman quite often!
I agree with many here that a Gentleman in the 36mm-38mm would be great. I also think a GMT at the 38mm-40mm range would be awesome too. I think the Gentleman is far more versatile than the PRX.
A little late but with a 6.25 inch wrist I would also really appreciate a 36-38 mm gentleman. If not I’ll just save a little longer and get the CW c63 in 36 but personally I’d own both for the right size.
This is a really nice watch for people who find PRX too formal. Can you make your next review about the Longines spirit flyback chrono in titanium. Thanks
I love the Gentleman but I do not care for the ice blue personally. I prefer the darker blue that I have. I love my Tissots and oddly think the PRX is unnecessarily bulky and looks too chunky. I don't care for it. I have a Gentleman Automatic, Tradition Open Heart Automatic, and the Telemetre 1938 Automatic. Love all three! The gentleman is so underrated lately. I commented on this in your last video when you didn't list it in you watch list. This watch deserved this video. Very nice!
I simply can’t wear mine on the bracelet. The end links make it far too big, plus the lack of micro adjust and the weight make it so uncomfortable. I bought a padded brown strap, and love it.
I love my gentleman, black dial black leather tissot strap. The dial and indices are stunning. The only thing I would change is the tissot font, I would much prefer the old joined tissot font.
I plan on buying a Gentleman eventually. I can't decide between the automatic and quartz versions. The automatic version is twice the price of the quartz!
I like the 40mm size, anyway I´m sure if they make 38mm will be a best-seller watch. The most controversial part is the bracelet (the polish centre-links, no micro-adjustment..), I don´t like it. And for Christmas wishes, make it also 150m WR and will be the best value/price GADA out there (my favourite watch is the Aqua Terra)
Totally agree. They can make a 36mm and still offer the 40mm for bigger wrists. Polished center links always look cheap, so brush that, add a clasp with micro adjust and you've got a timeless piece there.
Even after several years of ownership this model gets plenty of wrist time. I’ve come to truly appreciate its power reserve. If you have a rotation of watches you can set it aside for a day or two and simply return to it. Also the fact that it's relatively affordable makes it a practical choice for everyday use and travel. I can't speak to the quality of the bracelet since I prefer leather straps.
Hey Teddy, big fan! Been following your videos for a while now. The ice blue Gentleman looks absolutely fabulous 😍. Would you do a review on the Gentleman Open Heart? I'd like to hear your take on it. Again, big fan, keep it up
I have the gentleman 80 Silicum wirh dark blue cross hair dial. It's a real classy dial, but yeah, it's a bit too big. Tissot should make a 38mm variation. That'd be perfect!!
I absolutely love the dial color and I find the overall design of the Gentleman to be very pleasing. Unfortunately 40mm for a dressier watch is just too big for me. If Tissot ever made a 38mm or a 37mm version I would snatch it up in an instant.
I’ve been doing a lot of research on my first luxury watch (mostly by watching your videos) and the gentleman is at the top of my list because of its attainable price point and clean/beautiful finishing.
Just picked this very model up in Vegas, thanks to a couple hot craps games. 😄🎲 Absolutely love it. In the sunlight, the dial almost looks white. Indoors, it’s a very disntinct blue.
One of the things I’m drawn to about the Gentleman vs. the PRX is its narrower, pointed hour and minute hands. It’s not a huge dislike, just looks a bit nicer to me vs the blunt rounded tips and wider hands on PRX and many other sportier watch, not just Tissot.
Teddy, can you do a head to head comparison between the Tissot PRX and Gentleman with the Citizen Tsuoyosa? I want to buy a bright color dial, and figure you are a neutral arbitrator.
I really like the specs, price, dial and markers, but there are three reasons I didn't buy it : not available in a smaller 36-37 size, the bezel is a little too wide, polished center links. This is why I prefer the Citizen NB-1050.
I almost got the Gentleman, but fell in love with the Couturier Silver Dial on metal bracelet (T0354071103101). It has a Kakhi King II feel on a more dressier way and with 100m WR. Just be aware of the bracelet size if you have a larger wrist. It almost didn't fit my 8" wrist

@@madmajor5396 I believe if you buy it on leather it will be quick release, but the bracelet isnt
36mm, completely brushed bracelet and it's a winner.
Thanks
I have a small wrist, so the watch is a bit bulky, but the ice blue gentleman is beautiful.
This watch is fantastic. Had mine 2 years. Movement is great. Wish you could get a jubilee braclet
Very nice!
Great review Teddy. Thanks for your valuable insights and suggestions.
I simply can’t wear mine on the bracelet. The end links make it far too big, plus the lack of micro adjust and the weight make it so uncomfortable. I bought a padded brown strap, and love it.
I may pull the trigger on one this Christmas.
Would this need servicing?
I bought it for my son for Christmas. I have the ICE blue PRX and the chronograph.
I have the blue dial I bought it this year for a great price can't stop wearing it neglecting my other watches
Often when I'm not sure about the size it would be helpful to see on your wrist to see how it wears for the smaller wrist.
Tissot should release a 38mm version of this watch with a normal clasp instead of butterfly clasp. It would be a great hit
One of the best value for money! Looking forward to add one to my collection
I have the deep blue model and it's awesome. And while the green is it as well, this light blue model is indeed very attractive.
Do you think the ice blue will clash with outfits?having a really hard time between deciding between this and the navy blue 😅
I love my gentleman, black dial black leather tissot strap. The dial and indices are stunning. The only thing I would change is the tissot font, I would much prefer the old joined tissot font.
Why doesn't everyone use a quick release on the bracelet/strap? Is there a downside I'm not aware of?
I hope if they could bring the size down to 38-36mm ❤
Another great video. Would love to see a video from you on Straum
Your videos are incredibly unbiased and informative, thank you !
Hey Teddy, big fan! Been following your videos for a while now. The ice blue Gentleman looks absolutely fabulous 😍. Would you do a review on the Gentleman Open Heart? I'd like to hear your take on it.
Again, big fan, keep it up
I would also like to see a review of the Gentleman Open Heart. Especially since I own that watch 😀
Hoping Tissot releases a 36mm Gentleman 🙏
I have the gentleman 80 Silicum wirh dark blue cross hair dial. It's a real classy dial, but yeah, it's a bit too big. Tissot should make a 38mm variation. That'd be perfect!!
Have blue and green, Would love to see them change the end link to improve wearability
Is that a press-on case back?
i have both the gentleman titanium and prx. wear the gentleman more because its lighter and its a great looking everyday watch
A 37 mm would be a great. I love tissot watches.
Ok girly
Great looking watch. Beautiful dial colour with classy hour and minute hands. Could they add a day display to go with the date?
In my opinion the Gentleman beats the PRX hands down in every respect but price
Tissot has the best clasp out of any watch I've ever seen and worn
I absolutely love the dial color and I find the overall design of the Gentleman to be very pleasing. Unfortunately 40mm for a dressier watch is just too big for me. If Tissot ever made a 38mm or a 37mm version I would snatch it up in an instant.
Hi, i like white dial variant, please share the trusted website to buy???
I’ve been doing a lot of research on my first luxury watch (mostly by watching your videos) and the gentleman is at the top of my list because of its attainable price point and clean/beautiful finishing.
Yeah, you can’t go wrong with this watch. And you can mix it up with different straps.
It was my first and I'm so happy with it! (I have the blue one)
@@niklasforslund7464u think I should get the ice blue or blue ?
@@abdulrahmanassous2873 personally I like the blue better but the ice blue is also cool!
I have the PRS 516 with Carbon Fibre face. I'm a sucker for Carbon Fibre and the Powermatic 80 movement is really neat.
Just picked this very model up in Vegas, thanks to a couple hot craps games. 😄🎲
Absolutely love it. In the sunlight, the dial almost looks white. Indoors, it’s a very disntinct blue.
Does it clash with outfits ?since it’s ice blue
@ I don’t think so at all.
Since when do they include a quick release bracelet? Bought mine about a year ago and it does not have quick release.
This is why I prefer the Citizen NB-1050.
a 36 - 38 gent would be perfect. the lug to lug on this 1 is too large for most people
Its reminds me of the Seiko Sarb 033 without the black or off white dial and a nice bracelett
I just noticed how similar the case shape is to the Omega Globemaster, maybe a worthwhile affordable alternative to consider..
Nice looking watch. I've always liked the look of them.
Is it true that Powermatic 80 movement in Gentleman and PRX uses plastic parts? can you confirm?
Only the PRX uses the "High-Tech Escapement" (C07-1xx), not the Gentleman (C07-8xx).
Can you do a small review on the Open heart model? Im curious to know the difference in movement and etc
Tissot ice blue looks gorgeous.
I own the original blue version and I absolutely love it. Does anyone know an alternative steel strap?
Perfect at 40 , Love it !
You carry a great selection of watches. Including hard to find brands in the US like Certina. Ever think of selling EDOX?
