So sad about Mr. Denver. An avoidable accident cost the world a beautiful soul and voice. May his legacy live on through the work he left us.

In addition to being an exceptional singer, songwriter, and musician, John Denver was considered to be a very competent pilot, holding multiple ratings in many different types of aircraft. His love of flying was probably instilled in him by his father, Lt. Col. Henry John Deutschendorf, an accomplished U.S. Air Force pilot who set multiple speed records in the B-58 Hustler. His love of flight was probably only exceeded by his love for music. I too, have no shame in admitting I enjoyed his work....Thank you for posting this wonderful video!

There is a handwritten letter from Mr. Denver still at my childhood home giving my parents permission to play Rocky Mountain High at my uncle's funeral back in the mid 70's. He had been a park ranger at Mesa Verde National park in Colorado and was killed there in an auto accident. He even called my grandmother to extend his condolences. I was devastated when I learned of his death. Mr. Denver was such a humble and gentle man. He is greatly missed.

My girlfriend's husband was a part of the recovery team for John Denver's body, while he was in the Coast Guard. The CG provided security for the crash sight. He would NEVER talk about it. Just said..."They recovered his body". What an absolutely beautiful place. Thank you Jordan! 💚

I, heartbreakingly, heard more about this then I wish to know. Be very thankful he didn't talk about it 😭😭😭 But thanks phillie I'm sure John's soul was long gone and that was simply a shell. 1st night on the other side I already have my plans. After seeing loved ones, I can't wait to hear John's new music! And if that's not heaven I don't know what is

Awe, this was AWESOME. John Denver I love. Still do. I had so many of his LPs, cassette tapes. Annies Song, my favourite. I remember I was driving my late Mother to work one day, many years ago and just as we were about to enter the town there was a hitchhiker thumbing a lift. I passed by. Then as i looked in my rearview mirror, to my disbelief yes, it was John Denver. I was gutted !!!!! Once I had dropped off my Mother at her work I returned along that same road. I had decided that I would stop and chat with him, get his autograph. OH NO. DEVASTATED. He wasn't there. Someone had obviously stopped and gave him a lift. GUTTED !!!!! I read in the newspaper the following week that he was in the UK (Scotland at the time of seeing him) on a hiking holiday. A lot of people didn't believe me but I was right. It was him. I LOVE your vlogs, sooooooooo interesting. 🌺☺🌹😃🌺

Thank you for the John Denver memorial...if that's the word I'm looking for....But thank you all the same. A lot of people just don't get him. Sadly he's been made a joke of since his original time of popularity waned. Very sick and unfair. I admire that you said there's no shame in being a John Denver fan. I grew up on his music and followed him after the radio quit playing his songs. The Wildlife Concert is very good. I'm glad you kept an open mind and got acquainted with his songs. Again, thanx for talking good of him.

I knew the Man that sold John Denver that plane. He was a Vet in Santa Ynez and was also a stunt pilot. John wanted his plane, and he told John Denver that the switch to change gas tanks needed fixing and he needed to get it looked at ASAP. John never did obviously

@@vsjacobs6009 I left a comment about Gram Parsons because my father was a friend and musical director of his record, Grevious Angel. I think I corrected, or added something to it in my comment. However, my father was in the John Denver band for 13 year's as well. Dad said John did do things like that, not having the turn over switch for fuel. He worried about him. Wonder if the lion will cut all comments here too 😂

I loved John Denver too and was so sad when he passed away and it still makes me sad to think of how he couldn't reach that switch to change engines! He was a highly skilled flyer like his father had been! But at least we have his beautiful songs to remember him by! I also love Doris Day and grew up watching all her fabulous movies, so talented in both drama and comedy and a great singer and dancer. Totally undervalued by Hollywood as far as I'm concerned. Carmel rocks! Terrific video Jordan. Jah had the best place to celebrate his birthday. For those of you who might not know this, John Denver was Doris Day's guest on her last commercial project in 1975 called "Doris Day Today". Most libraries have it or you can buy it online. She adored him and he her. She sings with him and he with her all throughout the 1 hour special. Check out their singing "Follow Me". AMAZING beauty. Doris was in perfect voice. They look the same age!! John then had Doris as a guest on his TV special. She also went to Colorado on a ski trip visiting John and had a blast. John was taken from us too soon. J

Hey Jordan, I was watching a documentary and heard that he didn't wait for it to be refueled before taking it out and he ran out of gas. The popping was the engine out of gas. I am sure you meant fuel transfer switch, but it was located behind the seat and he ran out of gas before he could switch over. Tragic indeed. The worker at the airport wanted to refuel before he took it up, but he was excited and didn't wait. I believe it had 1/2 a tank and he thought it would be enough. Great vlog. Glad you and Jah are enjoying the airbnb. Looking forward to the next live stream. Take care/

Here's a little FYI on the John Denver Crash. He had 2 'test pilots (guys who inspect airplanes for customers but seperately affiliated from each other)and both had commented on where the fuel tank valve was located (behind the pilot seat) and mentioned to Mr. Denver that it needed to be moved to the control panel. Each pilot had taken the plane to 5000 feet and upon turning to change the tanks over had gone into a dive of 500 feet because their right leg pushed upon the aleron pedal(?). John had told his friend Clint Easstwood that he would buzz his house during this particular flight and was flying at 500 feet to do that. When he attempted to change the tanks over, you guessed it he dove that same 500 feet as the 2 test pilots had mentioned, but being at such a low altitude he met the ocean. He was flying a 'Lite E-Z' experimental plane. The planes themselves are very safe but have pretty much all had the fuel tank switch moved from behind the seat to the control panel. Also John Denvers remains had 3 burials as he was literally torn to pieces and his remains were found by various people for quite awhile after the crash. Sorry, Mobid but True.

    • @ellenw391
      @ellenw391 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

One correction and 1 added tidbit. John was cremated. There were no burials. His ashes were scattered in a couple of places. And what is most heartbreaking is he already dad plans to have the damn fuel tank handle moved to the front location in the long EZ original design. But he wanted to fly it once and test out his new toy, then have that adjustment, and a few more things done when he was out of town..

The switch behind the pilot seat was for the gas tanks. Tanks are in the wings. A Long E Z plane has one engine. We still go on the second Sunday of every October to sing his songs like he wanted. The plague was paid for by us fans and the family approved it. It took many years to get it done and finally installed. The log with his name on it was carved on the day he died. Judy, Charlie and other fans were there that evening. We, many who paid for the memorial and did the foot work, will be there is Sunday, come sing with us. Peace!

Really enjoyed the vlog. Great to see you and Jah enjoying this time together. I never knew much about Carmel but feel as though I do now. Both Doris Day and John Denver have given so much to us and I appreciate how you highlighted them both while sharing the beauty of the area. Thank you so much. M. Belinda Davis

What a great birthday treat for Jah. That pic you saw & referred to as "Civil War " era pic was Doris in her buckskin outfit from "Calamity Jane". I love that movie. My son had a teacher in high school was one of the men that recovered John Denver's body. No he was not a pretty site. I know more but I don't like to think about it. He needs to be remembered for his music. Sorry you didn't get to see Doris. As always thanks for sharing.

Jordan has to be just the sweetest, nicest guy in the world. He's the kind of guy I always hoped to meet. It was so sweet to watch him wander around carmel and innocently take such joy from what he saw. I used to own a wedding flower business and did quite a bit of work in Carmel...some of the most miserable, rich, entitled, selfish, awful people I've ever met were in that town...or to be more exact, the country club ladies that abound there.Skinny, hateful, rich women, sporting visors, down vests, small dogs and a steely eyed grimace on their surgically altered faces...shudder. I love that he's so unaware of all of that and having such a good day with his dog...I find myself watching his pieces just to know that his kind of sweetness and kindness still exist. Thank you Jordan.

I loved this vlog so much. Happy to see Jah having a great time on his B-day with his daddy Jordan. Carmel is my favorite place to go. Haven’t been there since 2001. Nice tribute to John Denver as well. Thanks for making my day complete and now we have lost Doris Day too which makes this vlog extra special to cherish always. Love the way dogs are welcomed at that restaurant where you & Jah enjoyed your meal. ⛪️💐 ❤️🙏🏻🐕‍🦺🌹🌈

I loved all of it! Carmel is a town I could live in! I love how Jah had his fun on the beach- then got a bowl full of yummy chicken breast! So cute - how he sat there and patiently waited! I am so glad for both to have had such a great weekend! Well deserved!
