I recently had the good fortune to peek around the 1929 Cypress Inn, in Carmel By-the-Sea. Inside was a treasure trove of interesting Doris Day tributes and awards. Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West show original die-cast Western figures are on display, too. This is a remarkably beautiful property.
ABOUT DORIS DAY
Doris Day was more than just a popular actress in the 1950's and 60's. She started out as a singer and scored two number one hit songs, the best known of which is Sentimental Journey. She was also noted for her comedic talents. She was also quite the talented dancer, until she injured a leg in 1937. Later in life she became a staunch advocate for animal rights and when she purchased a half interest in the Cypress Inn, in Carmel By-the-Sea, she advocated for it, and her Inn, to be pet friendly. She passed away in Carmel at age 97. She was amazingly beloved.

I was in Doris Day's animal foundation where I paid a monthly fee to help the animals. She wrote me a personal letter with a autographed picture of her and a dog. She was a wonderful woman and loved animals like I do. I love her rendition of fly-me-to-the-moon better than anyone else's. Looks like you're having so much fun. Becareful Rosie🙏😇💖
