      Hey Andrew, Could You please review the Philips Fidelio FB1 soundbar? I'm considering it, I've read some very good reviews on that bar but no videos, I love and enjoy your reviews and I would like to hear what You think about that one... I'm a Bose user, I have 2 cinemate systems at home but want something with hdmi, I purchased the 600 but found distorsion over 70% volume, I got really disappointed, I sent it back... Again I Would appreciate Your review on the FB1... best regards

      I think I’m getting the 600. I, like Kristi, have difficulties with dialogue. Does adding the bass speaker make it harder to understand dialogue in action movies? I ask because the surround systems I’ve heard with the loudest bass seem to be indecipherable to me.

    Owner of a Bose 600 and have been using it for couple of months now and I must say it is brilliant! I am going to add the surround and Base in coming months but the bar in itself has blown me away when I watch movies or listen to the music! I bought the Bose 600 sound bar along with the 500 base module last month and I am very happy with both. I use this for my home office together with my 32” 4K Samsung TV. My system gets a lot of duty playing music but also playing games on my XBOX. I liked this so much I got the Bose Mini 2 portable speaker.
    My main system is a 65” Sony LED TV with a Beosound Stage. The Bose system is excellent for small rooms so definitely agree with everything in the review.
    Keep up the great work!

      I forgot to mention the Bose 600 sounds in the same timbre as the Bose Solo 5 and the 900. I gave my friend the Solo 5 when I upgraded my main system. I do think the 900 sounds fuller but I’d only recommend it if you have a big room. Otherwise get the sub and enjoy the 600. 👍

    Sonos and Apple are like Hotel California once you check in it’s hard to leave. I have Sonos speakers throughout my home and I purchased a Beam for the bedroom because I knew the Beam would slide right in. I’m locked comfortably into the Sonos ecosystem. I think this is a point which is missed in many reviews.

  • @mikec1341

    Bose is an interesting company in many ways. I still have my Bose 201 Series V's as my daily music speakers power by an older Sony STR-DE985B (I know ancient tech) and a Bose Sound link III Bluetooth speaker that sounds amazing. Yet, with the exception of your review most people act like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs when I asked questions about adding newer components. This despite the fact that after using them for over a decade they still work well. Have you ever considered doing a retro tech page? I'm not talking about reviewing older components (I recognize the difficulty in that rabbit hole), but perhaps showing people how the tech has changed to enable them to move forward from something familiar and good, to something newer and better. I was lucky that recently one of your articles prevented me from buying a standalone DAC instead of just using my PC optical out directly to the optical in for the DE985. I guess I'm curious why one DAC is better than the others and silly questions like that.

    The glaring omission of HDMI passthrough with the Bose 600 means I'll have to return it with a heavy heart. For TVs from around 5 years ago and older, this makes it pretty much unusable when it comes to Atmos. With my LG OLED 55B6D I can have Dolby Vision or Atmos enabled, but not both. Not even an added streaming box like an Apple TV is a solution, since the TV can't handle passthrough of Atmos over ARC and going through relevant forums suggests, this isn't just an issue for me. So for many people who want Atmos, this isn't it, unfortunately.

    The Boss 600 was released just after I purchased the 300 model or I might have saved up for the 600, but I got the Bose 300 on sale and it replaced an old Sony surround sound system and couldn’t be happier. Wanted to free up floor space and didn’t really want a subwoofer and with the 300 I don’t feel I need it as our living room isn’t that large to begin with. Setup as you mentioned was an absolute breeze. Dialogue is great and I also have never engaged the dialogue feature in the app. Should I really feel the need for the Atmos feature I might put the 300 in the bedroom and upgrade to the 600 in our living room but I would have no hesitation in staying with Bose for a simple sound bar solution or recommending it to others, especially if you watch a lot of dialogue heavy films or tv shows like we do.

    • @andrewrobinsonreviews
      @andrewrobinsonreviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Since SONOS does not seem to want to work with reviewers like us, we have to purchase their products with our own money in order to review them. The ARC is not a product I'm going to spend my own money on at this point - it's old and has been reviewed endlessly. As we've stated many times before, if/when Sonos releases a new version, we will buy one to review.

    • @steve-hs6fi
      @steve-hs6fi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrewrobinsonreviews Thanks for the reply Andrew! Makes complete sense. It's a shame because the Arc and Beam become different products when sub is added. Add the Ones for surround...even better. The main point of my initial comment was not necessarily the Arc or Beam itself, but what these products become when the SONOS Sub is added. There are some professional custom home theater companies offering the SONOS combination as their entry level selection. The Sub in my opinion, is an underrated, phenomenal product. My sound room consists of Marantz separates, KEF speakers, subs...my bedroom is SONOS Arc, Sub, Ones.

    • @andrewrobinsonreviews
      @andrewrobinsonreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Again, totally understand the request. In keeping in mind the total out of pocket expense, we have to be selective about our purchases when it comes to buying product for review. Since we cannot simply buy and return, those ancillary products are often cost prohibitive for a review which is why you might not see them here. Honestly, I'm not sure what more I can say other than I would encourage viewers to let SONOS know that they are missing an opportunity to earn your hard earned dollars by continuing to ignore review channels like this one.

    Love the Show! I have a Golden Ear 5.1 system comprised of a SuperCinema 3D Array soundbar, (2) Rear Invisa 525's, and a ForceField 3 sub. Room is 18' x 18' with high ceilings. The soundbar/tv are tightly fit between the fireplace and outside wall on a swivel shelf that turns and comes out of that area slightly. We watch very few movies so use it mainly for tv and music streaming via Roon. Should I replace this soundbar for one that's better for music listening or just purchase two bookshelf speakers we can pull out of a closet for music listening? The soundbar was a compromise. • @andrewrobinsonreviews
      @andrewrobinsonreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I'm understanding your comment correctly, you have a TV/soundbar setup that is mounted (somewhat) in the corner of your square room --or off to one side of your fireplace that is located on the center of the wall? If so, corner placement in this situation may help you achieve better sound regardless of your speaker choice given your square room (square rooms are the worst for acoustics/bass reinforcement BTW). I am not familiar with those particular GoldenEar products, so I cannot say if you're missing out or not. I would maybe encourage you to try a pair of modest bookshelf speakers on some simple stands, either placed on either side of your fireplace or firing diagonally into your room on either side of your TV. Since you already have a sub you don't need to worry about the speakers having a lot of bass on their own, in which case I would look at these bit.ly/3zvBfRp or these bit.ly/3Ak39C6.

    Excellent review! Those of us over 50 years old can confirm what I am going to say: bass is important, yes... but when you have years of experience and have listened to various speakers of different types, ranges, and brands... you are convinced that the most important thing is not the bass, nor the power... this eventually becomes tiresome and boring due to the novelty of new and unusual sounds... what years and experience gives you is the capability to seek clarity in all frequencies. That no frequency is competing with another one to reach your ear... Rather, they work in unison and in harmony, to bring forth the sound that only Bose knows how to do and only those who have or have had a Bose product know what I mean.

    I have a full Sonos arc+era300+sub gen3 in the living room a Beam gen2 in the smaller “game room” and a bose600 in the bedroom. 100% the bose600 has fuller, louder and clearer sound and bass than the beam2, especially when it comes to music. This is why it went in the bedroom. But I will say this it’s slightly glitchy vs the Sonos setups. I have had zero issues with both Sonos setups as there seems to be constant hdmi handshake issues with the Bose600. In the end nothing beats the arc full surround setup. Even though the Bose600 sounds great and edges the beam out slightly something about Sonos just seems perfect. In the end it is what it is.

    Is the Bose 600/Sonos Beam 2 a decent step up from the Polk Mini Ax? I have the AX currently and it sounds LOUD in my small bedroom, but I'm just not wow'd by it and thinking of the first two.
    Edit. Got the Bose 600, and yes, it sounds quite a bit better than the Polk Mini Ax even without the sub.

I wanted a soundbar primarily to enhance my movie experience and the sound on the Samsung 65 inch QN90B I recently purchased. The Bose sound imaging / processing of Dolby Atmos is superior to the Sonos Beam 2 - although Sonos might be better for music - as pointed out in this review! I'm still over the moon with my Bose Soundbar 900. It still catches me off with some sounds to the side of me and for a standalone is amazing. Only thing I have a small complaint with is sometimes the sound isn't instantaneous to come out. Although that could be the "handshake" between the soundbar and my TV. Might get the bass module soon just to give a more cinematic vibe.

      My experience is that Dolby Atmos performance is much better and clear in 900 - but I feel the lack of bass become acute with 900. Also for me, music is important than Dolby and I feel the music also lacks out something (which I am not clear fully on what it is) - then I try to fiddle with the sound settings and it's a hit or miss (I am not an expert sound settings, I can just tell if it sounds good/full or not).
      Overall, I feel 600 is an overperformer for a mid-range but 900 is an underperformer for a top range.

It's ideal for the space that I'm using it in and the performance is surprisingly good. If you can get it on sale, it's a good value based on the Atmos capability and the upward facing drivers.
