- Big progress is being made and this episode touches on the fitment of a lot of different parts of the build.
The crew from Cage Kits stopped by to do a full scan of the car to ensure perfect fitment, just like they always do! I was also able to work on getting the Parts Shop Max coilovers fitted along with the Forgestar wheels with some slight modifications. This really helped us start to dial in the overall ride height we want to start with.
CAD Chris also stopped by to do more scanning and measuring so that we can start to plot out the position of the engine, cooling system and fuel cell.
On the inside of the car, I got this sick shifter setup from Sand Cars Unlimited that will get mounted along side the e-brake after we trim out a section of the tunnel.
Weddle Industries sent over more of the transmission pieces we'll need, so this allowed us to get a better idea of how the shift cables need to be positioned.
Thanks to everyone for following along as my team and I transform this flood damaged C8 Corvette into a full Formula Drift spec drift car!

*Matt, we definitely need an hour-long "supercut" once the build is complete!* 💪😎
This build gets better and better with each video you post. This thing is Rad!
Exactly what I was thinking 😎🍻
That fuel cell is so sick. Next level stuff. Using factory mount points, fits perfect, and even helps somewhat to act as a chassis stiffening brace. This whole project is really cool, but I love little details like that.
The engineering is insane. Thanks for taking us along. I love this shit
Been following along and this build series has been super interesting to watch. Mid Engine presents so many new opportunities and challenges. The dudes make it seem SO EASY ! So much technology and talented people and partners make it seem like this is happening at warp speed. Can't wait to see it!
seems like the most exciting c8 build I know of.
This is my favorite build this year from any TH-camr I watch lol (I know he’s a pro driver lol)
First! Nice project! Let's go Matt
Sand rail drivetrain setup on a C8. Of course matt would pull this off.
Nice smallframe Vespa in the corner!!
I can’t wait to see it all come together
This is hand down one of my favorite drift builds… and it’s not even done yet. Ever since they released the C8 I hoped for a drifted one, stoked it’s my favorite FD driver makin it happen. Keep this shit up man. Y’all are killin it.
Scanning w/Jarritos yo! 🫡
lets goo another fire episode!
Some clever engineering going on. Love to see it!
Cant get enough of your videos Matt! I think I might be living vicariously through all the cool stuff youre buidling :P
Nicely done 👍 starting to take shape
Yeahh buddy!
Took my brain a little bit to realize there’s no drive shaft in the trans tunnel lol. Kept thinking why tf is the fuel tank there 😂😂😂
Been waiting for someone to drop the finicky auto trans clutches and OEM computer for good 👍
The targets are for orientation. He's using a Creaform scanner. Source: I own one.
a dab of brake clean and a plastic razorblade for the stickers 😄
Build an arm rest behind the shifter so you don't have that pointed edge from the shifter box? This is such a cool build dude.
Let’s go!
Just asking, y u didn't consider whole shifter assembly lowering into center tunnel , just the shifter out of tunnel
Put the cage of the shifter inside the tunel. Just leaving rhe rods out
👍🏽👍🏽
Whats the price difference between paying a fabricator to do the cage from scratch vs getting Cage kits to design it and weld it together?
Why dont you make the whole top or most of the top of the tunnel removable? That way its easier to service the fuel lines
Any benefits in using Solidworks on Apple laptop instead of HP?
So this car is gonna be N/A
Why not clock the shifter a little so your not pulling straight back? Make it where your arm moves more towards your chest
I don't understand why you put the nos bottle in the usual radiator place for mid engine cars, and instead put the radiator above the fuel cell. I think it's better to swap their locations
