my favorite combo is when i press q then pulls but i press R at the original spot of the enemy and i miss.

A small tip they missed but is pretty op if u know this, remember,when E flashing, flash when your shadow starts moving not as soon as u press E. This makes it impossible to react to

@@hqhuy931 Keep in mind faker has 2-9 ping, unless ur in amsterdam or playing in 1k lp challenger,u cant react. Also i specificly said react instead of dodge :)
@@hqhuy931 pyke e-flash cannot be dodged as long as it’s executed right. predict or juke before the flash is probably the only way to avoid it. I don’t think I’ve ever missed it
@@ChasHOlsen Yep same here never seen someone REACT to it, if they predict it coming they flash away early and i save my flash for next time. Its exactly like shen E flash

This guide was awesome. I have so much fun playing Pyke and I’ve learned so much. I felt like a genius the first time I didn’t heal in a bush and deduced that they had it warded. It’s like he has a bonus passive! “You’re on a ward, idiot.”
It's similar to how Tryndamere's W can detect enemies who are stealthed, in bushes, or over walls. Minor, but busted

Another thing is that, in the early game, you don't need to engage as pyke. Walking up with your Q charging, running around aimlessly in your W, literally just going from one bush to another -- all those things will make the enemy worry, and work great as intimidation tactics. In situations where you don't think you're ready for a full out engage, it's better to use your abilities to scare off the enemy -- remember that even if you get 0 kills, you're ahead if your ADC has more CS than the enemy's ADC.
Would like to mention that death’s dance is na amazona item in pyke completely synergises with his kit. And also pyke can use his últimate when ccd by an enemy and his ultimate Wont be canceled. This also had an interaction with guardian angel where your ult Will still go through

Also a nice combo I like using is once you are comfortable with your Q pull range and know that the enemy is low and flashless (if youdo it perfectly it's extremely hard to flash out of even if they had it) you can use your Q pull to pull the enemy and drop them into execution range and put your R in the position they'll be hooked to as the hook is travelling
They'll be hooked back and immediately executed
I would say go Boots of Swiftness over Mobis, because losing that massive amount of movement speed the moment you enter battle is really bad for a squishy melee assassin like Pyke. Swifties are still great for roaming and are also cheaper than mobis.
Using your R to land your E is extremely risky in most cases, so saving the ult for a reset opportunity is always a better choice. If you have a reset but you don't think you can get another reset with it, THEN it's a good idea to use your R in this way, but keep in mind that it still means you're completely committing to the kill.
Prowler's Claw is extremely inconsistent in comparison to Duskblade due to dashes, flashes, cc, and grouping. If the enemy groups a lot when you have Prowler's instead of Duskblade it means your mythic active becomes next to useless. Getting the invisibility off kills allows him to survive after getting resets, which is extremely important for him.
Also, since Pyke's scaling makes him more useless than a turtle strapped to a tree, if you don't snowball or manage to make one of your teammates a carry, you will lose in most cases.
I always had this mobis vs swifties argument in my head
But a month or two into season 11 I just dropped bpth and started going Ionian's every game
Especially with the buff to his E cooldown the 20 or so ability haste makes pyke a lot more mobile and versatile with shaving off a second or so off of all his abilities

Such an awesome character and such a poor execution from rito part. Change what made him unable to build hp really hit pyke hard, especially you can feel it in this bs season
As a Pyke main, imo this guide sucks. It even contradicts things from other (pretty recent) Skillcapped videos, like the support guide where they spend half the video roasting mobis as a "bait item" that nobody below challenger should ever get on any support because they make you too vulnerable in a fight. And Pyke is one of the supports who suffers most from being caught out of position, so mobis are an especially risky buy on him. Even when I do consider buying them, I rarely hold onto them for the entire game because they just become dead weight after laning ends.
I think maybe Riot had a little more to do with this video than they should have.
Practicing jumping walls with Pyke E is great practice for when your in sticky situations.

Runes: if you are against hard poke supp and/or have low dmg adc, it's better to go green secondary runes for better lane survivability.
Boots: there are boots of swiftness too. They give slightly less out-of-combat MS, but they allow you to move better during the fight, and cost 100 less. As a bonus they give slow resistance. I generally pick them unless I have to roam top-bot fast.
I heard almost nothing about his W in this video. Most Pykes just waste it while it can zone opponents just by you existing nearby, it allows you to proc relic vs hard poke lanes, it allows you to control vision more reliably, it allows you to be a moving ward essentially.
Also there was nothing said about ganking. Pyke is probably one of the most reliable ganking supports. And I heard nothing in the video on macro lol. So in short: if you have nothing to do on botlane, you can easily gank one of your solo lanes.
Something that also works is replacing mobility boots with lucidity boots and replacing ultimate hunter with relentless hunter. You lose a bit of move speed out of combat and a bit of cd on ur ult but gain 20 ability haste on other abilities. Consider when building prowlers as you lose the ability haste from the mythic passive of duskblade
You also loose the stealth after kills wich is a huge disadvantage in lategame. Since pyke is pretty weak lategame and most of the time just oneshot in teamfights, after ulting a target. The invis from duskblade gives you just enough time to make a quick desicion if you can go for another kill right away, or dip out with w and try to get another r off from another angle.
In conclusion prawlers is MUCH stronger earlygame (until about 25 minutes where pyke starts to struggle in 1v1) otherwise go duskblade for more saftey, or if you play against counters with point and klick cc (nautilus alistar malzahar ect).
I actually like Lucidity with Ult Hunt , you have it up all the time . But what you mentioned can also be good
@@Ashitaka421 recently I’ve been running ingenious hunter with prowlers, umbrall glaive, youmuus and maybe edge of night, all of which benefit from ingenious hunter. I take mobility boots for speed and axiom arc for ult cdr. I’m loving it

I used to play a lot of Pyke but I've never tried using R for the reposition instead of execute. Def gonna pick up him again, thank you for this informative vid!

also when note you can dash over any wall as long as your dash distance reaches halfway through the wall. basically most walls and some funky angles.

Little tip for your r, if possible, especialy if you didnt go dusk blade, try to save e after you r, so when you get kill and get teleported in middle of enemy team you can just e away, most of the times if you dont e you will get cc and die in 2 sec becouse of no hp

As a enchanter/mage support main.. piking up pyke has been a real challenge lol. First game I was engaging like I was nautilus...getting better tho
as a OTP pyke with 800k points I can say only one thing: If u made a mistake playing pyke, u will die in 0.2sec. Thats why I hate this champ.

Indeed. I get shredded if I mess up a q e. But the satisfaction of killing the enemy in the laning phase with a q flash e combo keeps me going.
an important combo i think you missed which is especially helpful in mid or 1v1s is EQtap Flash, E right infront of the enemy hit Q for the slow and flash over them to guarantee Stun, after thats it might be a simple ult or autos into ult to kill them. This can easily bring a Kassadin or Talon into execute range from half or more
Edit: also the E QCharge Flash Stun QThrow is especially dangerous for you and very much depends on the target, never use this against any champ with quick use CC like Leona. You will E in with QHold and depending on timing you could be stunned stranded without E Q, and potentially flash. Its also very easy to mess up as the self slow on QCharge can screw with timing and cause you to not go as far with flash as you predicted.
stride braker browser or lethalaty mid pyke gives you that damage that you need when they start getting out of range and its surprisingly effective at least to me.
I have been using those runes from long ago they are REALLY good
On runes I take the same primary, but for secondary I like taking celerity for even more move speed and gathering storm, so my ult threshhold gets bigger as the game gets long, when pyke falls off hard.
5:09, you can start charging your Q before the flash, so you can garantee your pull even they have a tenacity (remember that you lose movespeed when you charge your Q)

awesome guide, just got a question. Why ToB over cheap shot? is it for the sustain in lane so you dont have to run second wind and instead run futures market? is it worth more than the damage of cheap shot?
My favorite rune is sudden impact since it procs with your ult Tob is troll and cheap shot is ok also secondary I go cosmic insight and futures market but bone plating and second wind is also good

As someone whos been maining pyke for 3 years i have to say, solid video! The builds and runes part could have included a few other good options but since this is meant for people just picking Pyke up thats not a big deal.
Do you have a better build I’m trying to make Pyke my go to instead of Urgot. Are there any builds that are extremely good from learning Pyke to mastering Pyke so I don’t have to think of switching my rune build?

I found out that you can do an invisible stun by using pyke dash and ryze's ult, I don't know if it's practical but it's fun to do

I personally put my own spin on sup Pyke. Cuz I don't play him like an assassin.
I use Glacial Augment, Footwear, Biscuit, Insight. Zombie Ward, Relentless Hunter.
Prowler's Claw, Death's Dance, Maw of Malmortius, Guardian Angel with Mobility Boots.
Early game, you can pretty much force a flash out of the enemy with a good hook. Since they can't really escape the slow from your Q and Glacial Augment on Lv1-3. Plus the damage reduction from it can ensure your AD will be the one surviving in the bot lane teamfight. With the Biscuit for yourself, you can make sure you don't get overwhelmed too.
Zombie Ward and Relentless Hunter also help you make vision and roam.
In the late game, you aren't as threatening as a full-lethality Pyke, but you sure are way more annoying with your slow, dmg reduction and survivability.
Is prowler claw good on pyke I play him on aram and I really like him that's what I usually build land my stun easier
i am trying sup fpr 1. tiem and i thought pike should be a good start
as a pyke onetrick with well over a milliom mastery, i gotta say prowlers claw feels really bad, especially after the recent nerfs to pyke. it was kinda on midlane when you still got gold from your ult, but now i dont think pyke is still a viable mid pick and prowlers on support leaves you exposed most of the time (+ e -> prowlers is pretty inconsistent). i mostly go for a reset focused build with mobis -> umbral -> deaths dance/duskblade -> deaths dance/duskblade -> maw of malmortius

So, I know pyke is supposed to start his Q, but is it weird that I find I have the best early game success starting my E? I think people just don’t expect you to have E level 1 and it gets kills really well if your ADC commits.
You cam do both but e is more risky if your adc doesnt commit becuae it pits you out of position with q you always win trade with q triple hob auto i mostly do that too chunk adc or supp for ez q e ignite lvl 2 kill or even e flash q if they respect

@@proma9971 But Q is expected. You see a pyke you go "He took Q first, better play behind minions" But then you actually have your E and no one's ready for that at level 1.
Its not bad at all if your adc is on board with your plan of going in lvl 1. Thats why e first midlane is so good, its stronger than q in a proper fight except in botlane you cant guarantee your adc going in with you which is why taking Q is generally preferred as youre way less likely to get punished for screwing it up or your adc not following
E start is good !
Mid Pyke often do that to all-in on the level 2 advantage, or a misposed opponent.
I think as a supp, it's pretty much matchup dependant.
Q is less dangerous but E can be more rewarding if your matchup is positive.
i usually go resolve in as pyke for the overgrowth rune as he gets more ad based on health
Its not valuable since he roams a lot so absorbs less and its 1 to 14 so its not even a longsword most games

Not only does he roam a lot, but the value is pretty low even before HP/AD conversion. You're lucky if you get 200 HP out of that rune late game, you do the math on how much AD you're getting for it. And that's if you reach like 30 minutes in the game while also being around dying minions constantly.
I dont really like mobility boots to be honest, I prefer the swift ones as it helps massively to land your E. For the runes if you're looking to be more supporty and dont mind sacrificing damage you can go for glacial but honestly I'm too much of a kill hog and perform better with hail of blades.
I've actually recently stopped using Umbril, it definitely makes regenerating health out of combat alot easier but I've noticed Pyke prefers crit builds alot better.. With a good crit build you can do 5.5k damage before the enemy can even react with your Q, auto, E, Auto x3, R to finish them off, and then W to GTFO before the enemy team understands what's going on.
Unfortunately lethality doesnt seem like it's doing too much for me when I do lethality builds, but I've never seen the numbers so it's entirely possible I just suck!

If you're watching this now, just know that this guide is wrong on 2 things: precision secondary is better than inspiration, and build prowlers claw instead of dblade, because you can use it to reposition yourself behind champs while using e.

Just a tip for people watching this after my comment was placed:
Axiom arc is a must have item for pyke that came out about 2-3 months ago.
Its an item that:
1. Gives lethality
2. Gives ability haste
3. Takes time off of your ult cooldown after kills
So basically mid/late game ur gonna be able to almost unlimited ult
its bad .. why would u build that item when if you use ult correctly u dont need the cooldown reduction..

Personally i like sudden impact instead of taste of blood and for secondary runes either bone plating and unflinching, giving u some extra resitances in mage- poke matchups, or yellow tree with triumph and tenacity.
I barly ever seen someone go futures market, neither the boots rush since the w scaling nerf

as it allows for your offensive tools to scale harder than natural defense of your ennemies.. making you even scarier as a roaming monster...
though consider that your only way of healing is from retreating out of the fights... or building duskblade...

Meanwhile I'm playing bruiser Pyke with Drakk, Steel boots, Youmuus, Death dance, GA and Glaive.
And I run triumph as secondary with tenacity, so I basically regen 60% of my health per kill in a team fight while having 230+ Armor
Sounds intense. I'd love to be able to actually do something in a teamfight before inevitable death.
And 30 magic resist
Try frozen heart. The extra mana is nice for fishing with Q, the aura makes you useful late game just for being in the vicinity of a teamfight (which is all a Pyke can do sometimes...), and the armor and CDR is just great to have. If you want an item that actually makes you tanky against physical champions, it's pretty good. If I want to go bruiser Pyke, it's usually frozen heart + GA + maw (the shield gets almost the size of your HP bar, pretty useful). I only get DD while GA's active is down.

Imho triumph legend tenacity is nicer as it just lets you het way more resets of and the tenacity trhows enemy cc chain off allowing you to flash or e out

I like going revitalize and second wind/bone plating for more regen in lane which makes it extremely difficult to drive you out
Probably I'm just garbage at the game, but as an OTP 1 million points Pyke main I feel like the exact problem that I have with the champ is that hr can't carry. No matter how good of a kda you have, or more importantly hom much gold you give to your team, if they can't use the advantage you're gonna become useless, because carry wise that's all the champ does. It gets picks for his team. But after the 20 minute mark he falls off so hard that he needs that said team to win him the game, while he lurks around trying not to get one shot by a Yuumi auto attack.
e q flash is stupid, you can charge up your q druing the stun from e, all you get there is the slow from the q chargeup
Ummm, Did they change the thing were Pyke teleports to the center of the X for his ult.
He still teleports to the middle, but the damage is always inside of his X.
Im suprised pyke's Animation cancel wasnt mentioned, but i do understand its really difficult.
You mean the q intro e right? Its not really a cancel you can only buffer it as soon as you hit your target.

Celerity is an insignificant rune and 25ms is also not much compared too all the ms pyke gets and how is futures and cosmic hard to use?

As a 2 million mastery point pyke mid one trick, I concur with much of this advice. However glass cannon builds are mainly good for really good players. Build tenacity for beginners

Mobi boots rush only applies to high ELO where everyone is good at the game. Realistically this is not the case, and you should almost never buy mobis in favor of ionian boots.

you wanst to hook a dn stun someone? just hit your hook and E back wards. not only you pull the enemy back you also leave them to no choice but to flash to get out of the stun, its simpler its easier and doesn't require a flash to work
Adding some tips for laning styles would be helpful. Something as simple as "play behind your ranged minions against ranged supports" " This is how you push lanes to get successful roams"
