Wow, I didn't even know these machines existed. I just recently saw one for sale that I hope to buy. Thanks for this video. Seems a lot more complicated setting it up than just grabbing a pair of needles and yarn but I can see the benefits of using one of these and I'm excited to try it. :-)

This is really helpful and one of the best planned tutorials I’ve seen on you tube yet. Personally, I’m still struggling with the models and trying to get to grips with some of the jargon. Some knitting machines have punchcards, some have ribbers. Does that mean some only do basic knit? What’s the best model for brother if I want to build my skills? Anyhow, this is a great help so far….

In this case, it always knits a knit row and never a purl row. However, in hand knitting, you reverse the side of the knitting which faces you each row, which effectively means that if you just knit plain, you are knitting garter stitch. On a knitting machine, because the knitting always faces the same way, you knit stocking stitch.
Where can I find machines like this one for sell, I searched several sites but couldn't find any of them. And is it called knitting machine ? or it has another name ?
Sure, you can do both cabling and fairisle. Might not be terribly fast, but you can do it. For faster fairisle you would be better off with a punch card or electronic machine.
