No aditional bracing. The ladder rack is just self tapped into the upper framing. It is holding up well. I do strap it closed when I travel. I have heard of people who do not and have no issues but it only takes a min to do it. Better safe than sorry.
How has this been working for you? I’m thinking of getting one for my trailer conversion but I’m not finding many people using this style of awning for a trailer conversion. How much drop does the awning have. I have more space above my door than you do, but not sure if it’s enough to mount to the trailer without ladder racks
Sorry i did not see this until now. It has been working very well. I had it out in the rain for the first time and it did fine. I kept an eye on it and would never leave it unattended in the rain or strong wind. If you have larger space above the door I think it would work fine. I have see others mount it directly to the trailer and have not problems.
Are your ladder racks custom fit? I bought some from recpro and they are taller than i like, i wanted them about four inches off the trailer. Just curious, I'm not sending them back, but i will have to cut them down. I was wondering if there was a shorter height rack by another company i didn't find. Looks good, having one over your back porch will be nice. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the kind words. The only thing I adjusted on the rack was the cross members. The height was a big concern for me too. I found these at a trailer dealership. I am very happy with them.

Thanks for being the Guinea Pig on this type awning. I just put one on my conversion and It seems to work great. Awesome video 👍🏻
Awesome. glad it worked out for you! Happy Camping.
Great video! I've been thinking about awnings for my trailer. This gives me a lot to think about!
Great video!
Thanks for the video, I have just been looking at these on Amazon wondering if they would work on a camper. Question answered, thanks.
Open end with tape...great!
Loop some dental floss around the loose end of tape to aid in removal
Did you add any additional bracing to the trailer frame and how is it holding up? Tghank you for the video.

@@CarlFiocca thank you sir. I have a very limited budget and this style caught my eye and iIcan't afford to make a costly mistake.
That looks pretty great. But wow on bad instructions. I feel like I would have given up before we started lol. You did an awesome job installing it.
Thanks
Would love to share a picture of my rig thanks for the idea

Did the brackets that you attached to the ladder rack come with the awning?
Yes they did
Nice, How is yours holding up on the trailer? I have the same type of awning. I'm contemplating putting it on my cargo trailer.
So far so good. I do strap it when traveling. It has withstood light rain and some wind. I say go for it.
@@CarlFiocca Thanks

Where are you getting the awning for over your ramp door?

How is it going down the road ? Every any worries of it blowing apart ?
I use two large Velcro straps because I was worried about that also. No issues so far!!
@@CarlFiocca awesome, for the price , I think I'll give one a try.
@@cjsmith6689 I also just made a hook to open and close it that attaches to my drill for easy (lazy) opening. I may do a video on that soon.
Who was the vendor and how much? :)
Mcombo was the maker. I think it was 260 to the door.
They have 10’ x 8’ ones now for $199.99
