    I'm installing this exact awning 16 ft on the weekend and was super stressed as i need to make some alterations to my trailer. after seeing your video it's made it less complicated and relieved the stress. Great job, Great detail. thank you!

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Very helpful through the entire process! So glad you made this, I knew from the reviews before purchasing the instructions were awful. I installed it completely by myself in my driveway. For the tube, I just installed it with the arms extended, about 2 feet off the ground. Set one side on a chair, then installed bolt in other side. Thanks again!!

    Just started mine yesterday. Thanks for the great info; dry fitting was essential for proper bracket spacing! The instructions provided just left too many questions . Thanks again.

      That’s great, I’m going to lay things out and give it a look but if I think it’s too much I sure would pay someone plus help.
      When it comes to drilling holes in my trailer I get a little worried.

    I wouldn’t straddle the roller while winding up the spring. I had one get loose and unwind violently.

    Hi I watched your video a couple of times before I attempted the install, and I will say you did an excellent job. Every part was well explain and the extra hints well worth mentioning. Thanks for giving up the time to do this. Can I ask did you need to adjust anypart of the awning since the install and now that you had it a while hows it holding up? . Other than washing it down do you oil certain parts. Im not too sure if I should leave the awning extending slide rails oiled or not as dust my just build up. Thanks from Land Down Under.

      Thanks for taking the time to comment and for the compliments. I store my camper in my garage so the awning still looks new. I had it out for the first time this season last week and it worked great, no adjustment needed. I'd say just keep it clean, there's not much of anything to service. I watched your video on diving that wreck and the crays, that was really cool.

    Very detailed video! Thank you! The Awnlux awning I ordered states that the roller is pretensioned. Did you do you turn yours an additional 15 turns as well? Or maybe this one is an updated version?

    • @SwimmingintheDeep
      @SwimmingintheDeep  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm, mine was definitely not pretensioned. It should be apparent when you get it out and take a look. If they are pretensioned now there must be a release pin or something once installed. Let us know. Thanks

    • @johnfarthing6174
      @johnfarthing6174 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s definitely a pin that states, “Do not release until the roller is installed”. I wish I could post a picture

    I have a 18 ft. cargo trailer that I haul my motorcycle in and use for camping also and have been unable to find an awning that I can make fit! When awning is close how far does it stick down, there is not much room between the top of the door opening and top of my cargo trailer. The local Camping World Store has been no help didn't have the time to fool with me!

    • @SwimmingintheDeep
      @SwimmingintheDeep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just measured for your question. About 5 inches to be safe. So you need about 5 inches from the top of the roof to the top of the door.

      @@SwimmingintheDeep OK thank you, I will do some measuring.

    is yours a standard height trailer, only courious as i am going to be installing one on a cargo trailer as well and i added an additional 6 inches to the height not sure if i need to bring the lower legs up roughly that same amount as when it will be opened would it be in way of door but i must say this video helped alot over the supplied instructions

    • @SwimmingintheDeep
      @SwimmingintheDeep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My trailer is 74 high inside. Depending on where your leg footer falls you should be OK, you want it to mount in something solid and mine did, the base edge of my trailer. Here's where I explain that if you did not see it th-cam.com/video/agbIkMVVSbE/w-d-xo.html Thanks for the comment.

      @@SwimmingintheDeep dude i just got finished installing my awning your video is one of the most helpful on you tube, as it goes into great detail .in the end i set mine @ 72" so the door would not hit the awning , my trailer is 84" again thanks for a great video

      @@markmundle2104 That's awesome to hear and thanks for the comment. I added an awning roller to my door to keep it from cutting it but your door maybe a different design that's more rounded.

    Did you loctite any of your hardware?

    • @SwimmingintheDeep
      @SwimmingintheDeep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, but I did use lock washers on the brackets. And some of the nuts that come with it have nylon inside them so they lock anyway.

    • @madmurf
      @madmurf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Richard I did on the hardware that didnt have lock washers or nylon bolts. It was only a low strength incase I needed to loosen stuff during adjustment. So the awning roller joining screws was one place I did. Its seems like and excellent bit of kit for the price.
