- Dale Earnhardt Jr. brings on the 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott to dive into what this accomplishment means for the 24-year-old and how he pulled it off.
Dale Jr. and co-host Mike Davis first find out they are the reasons Elliott got out of bed this morning after living it up last night celebrating in his hometown of Dawsonville, Georgia. Chase spills the details on the party and how his dad, the legendary Bill Elliott, joined in on the fun.
Elliott received a special welcome home parade on Monday. He talks about that experience and why it’s unique to him among his Cup Series competitors.
Long-time Cup Series crew chief Alan Gustafson is now a champion. Elliott talks about what it means to be the one who delivered it to him.
Dale inquiries about the No. 9 team’s ability to perform under pressure, especially in the playoffs where they won three of the last five races. Davis asks Elliott about his performance in Phoenix and whether it met Elliott’s tough standards.
Lastly, Dale delivers a special message to Chase on an accomplishment he was never able to capitalize on.

I've met Chase Elliott on a couple occasions, and every time I've met him he is Always down to earth, friendly, laid back, and great to chat with.
For the 15+ years i never got to experience Jr winning this, so experiencing this with Chase was really cool!!
Mr. Clutch winning the final 2 races to win the championship was well deserved!!

I predicted he would win the Martinsville race and subsequently the championship. I have watched NASCAR too long to think differently. It is total bullshit. I remember Tony Superman Stewart winning 5 of 10 races in the Chase to prevent Carl Edwards from getting a well earned championship. Tony was also given special modifications to his Pontiac late in one of his subpar seasons to lift him to a championship and more importantly prevent Mark Martin from winning his second championship.....oh yeah, it would have only been his first, a 46 point penalty in 1990 stole his first one.

I saw a video posted by Hendrick Motorsports, and that was great. I was down at the Racing Hall of Fame. I got a few photo's with the car. Fun day.

I was a big Bill Elliott fan and jumped on the bandwagon for Chase when he made the big leagues. It was a great way for him to win the championship. Well done to Chase and the whole organization.

I think Chase is the only driver in history that jumping on the bandwagon is not only acceptable but virtually mandatory! He’s such a good kid off the track and then backs it up on the track. There’s nothing to dislike about him, he’s is THE future king of NASCAR.

The thing that always comes to mind when I think back on Bill Elliot's heyday, was his finesse running the high line on super speedways. He always looked so calm while he was steadily wearing out the competition. Really nice to see Chase doing it in another time, in his own way.
Jr got a good eye for champions,kesolowski, truex,elliot all drove for jrmotorsports and went on to become cup champs
Amen...just wish JR would have gotten his.. Cant leave out Hendricks eyes either. Truex wasnt technically part of JRM it was Second chance then. But I agree he has a knack for picking drivers.

19 years ago, I was 12 years old watching my driver win his 4th championship, and my first. Started watching racing in 1999, and I thought I'd have several championships to celebrate in the coming years. And then Jimmie Johnson came along.
But when Gordon retired, I had been watching Chase Elliott come along in all the lower series and rooting for him. So when Hendrick and Gordon said he would be replaced by Chase, there was no questions who my new driver was going to be. Then in 2018 when they decided to run the number 9, I thought that was so cool, because growing up a small child my favorite number was 9. And that first win at Watkins Glen, just felt like a big old party to me. I cherished every win he has had up to this point. And Sunday when he got the championship, I got online, bought multiple Chase Elliott championship gear to celebrate. I watched everything I could, I looked over the run down of the season on Racing Reference, and just soaked it all up. Just to cram this brain full of memories.
Some fans don't get to watch their driver win championships, let alone races.
I count it a blessing to see my guy win one. 2 championships in 21 years as a fan, and I appreciate the heck out of both of them. Congratulations Chase!
I hear ya brother I was a Gordon fan for years. When Chase took over I knew after watching him run Xfinity,Trucks you name it he was gunne be my guy and when I got to watch him win the cup while my 6yr old son sat next to me cheering louder then I was man I'm not ashamed to admit I shed acouple tears.

"You're a nice guy and you handle things the right way". That is the essence of a most popular driver right there. There are quite a few cup drivers who, while having strong skills with the wheel, don't seem to understand this.

Great Job... Great Champion... Happy for Chase to get his first Championship. Was always a fan of Bill Elliott and have followed Chase's career. I was a big Dale Sr fan and equally for Dale Jr. Now that they no longer race Chase is who I pull for. I hope this is one of many... also wished Jr could have gotten a championship

I am really glad Alan Gustafson won a championship.
Alan was Kyle Busch's crew chief when Kyle left HMS. A reporter asked Alan if he was leaving HMS to go with Kyle. Alan's response was "I would rather sweep floors at HMS than be a crew chief for any other team. I am not sure if this is a true story but it is good when someone is rewarded for hard work and loyalty.
I want Bill Elliott to be a guest on Jrs. show soon ... and if that happens, one the the mandatory topics that needs to be discussed is the "1987 Winston All-Star Race" (the so called "Pass in the Grass"), between Elliott and Earnhardt ... and ultimately the relationship Bill had with Earnhardt afterwards throughout their years racing each other.
NASCAR needs Elliott to do well to keep fans interested!!! I mean we supposed to pull for Kyle Busch or Joey logano!!

I unfortunately missed the parade through town because I had to work. But I was coming home from work and traffic was backed up for at least 3 miles because people were leaving. It was pretty cool to see so many people come out to show their support for Chase. And although I missed the parade I did get to see his car in front of the hall of fame, and my 4 year old son wanted me to drive it home lol.
I heard his voice and I went "Chase! Are you sick? Oh..."
man you could see the emotion in chase’s eyes when dale mentioned the most popular driver winning the championship. and how he was never able to do it. you could see how much chase wishes dale jr had. im a kenseth fan and i wish he had. in fact im pretty damned sure everyone in the world would agree to take away one of tonys or jimmies and give it to dale haha. we all want it for dale. and dale just carries that. i feel so bad for him. and i was not a part of jr nation or am not. i just respect the hell out of him. especially more now that hes done. i wish it didnt bother dale so much. but its always gonna. maybe when he is completely past racing age it wont sting so much.
