lol, I was there (you can sorta see me in passing a few times standing behind Meg White and a cameraman) and the thing is you can feel very awkward going to MuchMusic and standing so close to the artists, almost frozen and mesmerized being so close to the action and on live TV, but also the production people there don't really encourage you to let loose, you sorta feel like you're walking on egg shells when you're there, not sure why it's like that but it is...
Yes. Jack and Meg's chemistry is really one of the things that made the White Stripes so great. That look she gave was priceless. I'd love to see a reunion tour. I saw them in concert in 2005 and it was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever been to to this day.
I’ve said it for years, it’s not the instrument that makes the musician. If you can make it sound great, that’s all that matters. Jack White is living proof.
i just realized Jack sings the "missing lyrics" whenever they do this song Live... right after the line 'gimme a sugar pill and watch me just rattle down the street', the Album Version of the song has the vocals go completely silent for the fourth break, resuming at 'Acetaminophen'...the line was "i dont have the patience to watch you battle every miniscule disease", but it was cut after Meg objected to it (calling it 'uncouth')... ...apparently, the line will be included in the "Mono Mix" 20th-Anniversary Edition of the track, but i have yet to confirm/deny...
I saw white stripes live just before they split. The whites stripes were so powerful live. When I went Blackpool the crowd torn the ro0f off. How can you not at a white stripes gig!!
@TIGERWOODSBOYFRIEND I've been to Muchmusic once, and the atmosphere is not like anywhere else. You're inches away from the artists, and you feel weird if you get into the music because of that. If you are as close as these people, you got tons of plastic lighting shit that makes it hard to move around or do much of anything. The place is cool, but not as fun as other venues.
If I'd have been listen to the white stripes that close I wouldn't have been able not to dig it,. Your close enough to feel the amp and the kit not just hear it. that would have been too cool..I did see the white stripes live but I'd have enjoyed that!!
God I just love how shitty this sounds. The tempo is way to fast. The vocals are dirty. Guitar's not in tune but man. It sounds even better that way for some reason
Ok so in the recording, after he sings "Give me a sugar pill and watch me just rattle down the street", the next line there's no words and it's kind of a dropout thing where the drums keep the hi-hat going but guitar is silent. Here, they do a cool thing that's different than the recording, and the lyrics are the same EXCEPT he adds a new line but what the heck is he saying?
When something just works and you can’t explain how or why……is refreshingly cool and enjoyable.

Yo if you're gonna be on camera you just gotta skank that shit up. Like get moving, throw some fuckin shapes behind Mr. White my dude
Starts doing fucking gang signs
Meg's face when Jack sings 'Meg you have no faith in medicine' is great (2:52)
made me cum. lit
Around 2:35 it looks like she might have dropped a stick. I feel like the smile is more of a look we recovered from that and it happened on TV.

I read somewhere that Meg would always get annoyed when he mentioned her name in this song but Ive forgotten why
because when they were producing the song, she had a fight with jack because she thought that the lyrics were problematic
This perfectly illustrates the simplistic genius of The White Stripes. Manic, off balance, but exactly on point. Fantastic.

I know, All the famous musicians in history had their own sound
The white stripes...dragging 90s kids into the 2000s!!
Jacks vocals are insane. Just the energy behind the words man.. like, damn
That last in that series of solos makes me flip out.

Meg dropping a stick mid song is the most white stripes moment ever

Meg is so cute :)
Agreed

I found my new favorite white stripes song.

Jack White is a legend in the flesh
i was there and they don't let you because its live television. rudes.
Pretty cool changing the lyrics to Train Kept a Rollin, in homage to Jimmy Page
Its wouldn't work because the tempo it a bit different but I take you point, the chords are almost the same.
Have you? Have you ever heard a better sound in your life?! No, you haven't.
the guy at 1:14 .... only guy in there who knows the words, i could have a beer with him.
Mike Adamson 1:14

Love how sloppy yet awesome Jack plays. Gives me hope for myself lol
Yo how are all these dudes not just fuckin SKANKIN it UP out there on the dance floor
Ha! Jack is all jazzed up. He switched up the riff in the first verse ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I adore those abrasive solos, what effects did he use?
Big muff,octave pedal(wammy),fender amp.
It’s literally just how he screams it’s awesome
WOW!!!!!
Nice Song Album "Elephant"!!!

I would describe White Stripes as Audible marmite.

The Lucid Experiment this comment enlightened me
Crowd is dead
The manager of the surgery talking to karen
Tough crowd...
Did she drop her stick at 2:34? lol yes.
