Kira! Poglings is a game made by one of my favorite TH-camrs, Chadtronic! He's been secretly making the game for approximately 4 years and only recently revealed it to his audience. He did say that he wanted to bring Chao Garden mechanics into his game.
I'm unironically excited for Touchstarved, there's actually quite a lack of good dating sim/visual novels for women in the west and it's been that way for years, there's definitely way more now than there was 10 years ago but many of them either have terrible writing or unappealing art-style (I know this one is subjective). It's actually kind of a thing in the otome game (what dating sims with a female main character are called, comes from the Japanese word that translates to "maiden" as they're called maiden games over there and Japan is kind of where the popularity of the genre largely came from) to kind of meme on ourselves for being into digital men and spending money on otome merch, many of us a very self-aware about it, it's great. Also the choice of song they use for Touchstarved is kind of hilarious, but it's a cover that is also unironically good. The song is Every Time We Touch by Cascada, which has kind of become a meme-song in recent times, some people in the Touchstarved teaser comments were pointing out how that's kinda funny. But yea, very good cover of the song! I haven't backed the kickstarter, and I probably won't because currency conversion always fucks me over and makes everything very expensive, plus it's already massively past its original goal, so I'll just buy it when it releases. What the fuck am I even talking about in this comment, why is it so fucking long? Oh right, digital men, yea they're fun. Posting my garbage and longwinded comment just for algorithm-boosting purposes. Edit to add: Bara typically refers to anime-styled homoerotic works made by men for men, usually features very muscular men. Yaoi is the Japanese term for boys love and tends to lean more towards a female audience and usually created by women for women, Yuri is the female equivalent (girls love). Anything that's anime-styled and features things that may be considered pornographic is usually labelled "ero" or "erogame" (usually shortened even further to eroge) ero being short for erotic, usually reserved for when fucking is actually shown in the game.

Ok, so about the "bara" term: yaoi and BL stuff is generally made by and for women. Bara is a term used for a sub-genre of sorts that's actually geared more towards gay men. It tends to have less feminine-looking guys, often more muscular, more body or facial hair, etc. In essence, it just means that that game is a guy-on-guy visual novel that isn't trying solely for the female yaoi fangirl demographic.

wild seeing touchstarved on your channel, last place I expected it to be. the devs announced the game by citing their work on the arcana, which is a game known for devs who fetishise incest and other reprehensible shit. been steering clear of it ever since. any visnov enjoyers might wanna be careful around that one if they look into it. the rest seem pretty par for the course on kickstarter though.
Bara is basically gay anime porn created by gay men for gay men. Similar to yaoi which is gay porn created by women for women (essentially fetish stuff)
it's actually just yaoi but only with buff/masculine men. anyone can make it, but the masculine men factor is what gives it its differentiation from yaoi
I think the problem with Genokids is maybe the timing of it and how 'hard' it's really riding the style/aesthetic/mechanics of Hi-Fi Rush. I feel like to stand on its own feet and be recognised, it's got to do something to advertise its own identity a bit more, or everyone else is gonna look at it and shrug, and get Hi-Fi Rush instead.
GenoKids been around, it really got blindsided by Hi-Fi Rush. It wasn't their fault, especially since HFR was a shadowdrop that *wasn't even leaked ahead of time*.
15:00 they play those cause these games are actually more game for the buck than any other modern game on the market that just pretends to be a game when it is just a fucking storefront to milk more money by bs mechanics and tactics. The simpler something is the more polished and more value it holds. These games let players perfect their skills and are designed to reduce the number of variables that can ruin your game out of nowhere like in most modern games. So, these games serve as the best way to test your skills at mastering a game too.
As much as I love myself a Resi4 Remake or Elden Ring sometimes when you return late from work you just want to relax and simulation/crafting games are great for it. You just do stuff your own pace and relax with no time constraint. True, Homeless simulator is a bit much, but hey whatever people enjoy.
What's hilarious is how many people make fun if romantic themed games when there is actually a HUGE market for romantic Sims, dating Sims, even simulators that go into full on hard-core sex. There is such a huge market that is left untapped by major studios because the "industry" has designated anything involving the word "adult" or anything sexual, as the devil, and shouldn't exist lol. Thank God for Steam devs that make games for that market lol. If left it up to people who like to shame others for how they get their rocks off, a huge lile of cash would be left on the table.

Can we talk about the fact that the Touchstarved trailer music was a cover of "Every time we touch" by Cascada. wot
Tee Lopes is actually a pretty good video game music composer. Shout outs to him.
wild seeing touchstarved on your channel, last place I expected it to be. the devs announced the game by citing their work on the arcana, which is a game known for devs who fetishise incest and other reprehensible shit. been steering clear of it ever since. any visnov enjoyers might wanna be careful around that one if they look into it. the rest seem pretty par for the course on kickstarter though.
Lol waifu Advance Wars, now I've seen it all
I'm not gonna overanalyse this but it's pretty sad how we basically now have "going on vaccation" games
Kira talking about monstruous coqs made me fuzzy in the belly. oops
The poglings game is probably inspired by the Chao garden from sonic adventure 2
$500k. This has to be money laundering
Its THIRST.
You have no idea about THIRST my friend.
Money will burn for the heat of the THIRST!
5:17 i nearly spat my coffee out.
Aniwars is basically just Waifu Advanced Wars.
Progress Bar Simulator
Camper van sim sounds great because while Van Life sound cool I wouldn't want to do it IRL.
Bara is for everyone. Especially me.
I know you probably have no incentive to make these videos anymore but I could honestly watch you laugh at these games for hours.
Genokids has been worked on since before Hi-Fi Rush. Everyone just jumped on the music fighting genre at the same time.
Poglins is from TH-camr Chadtronic
13:50 the leg of the "R" took a little too long to show up, but that name makes the game waaaay more interesting.
TouchStarved looks like that cringe vampire Vtuber from your streams.
Why don't I simulate having a job? That was funny.
Let's go
Is it me or does Wind Swept look like an exact game play copy of Donkey Kong 2 Diddy Kongs Quest?
would web browser addon that says if track is dmca or not help creators you think or is it more convoluted? I was thinking of creating one, shouldn't be too hard with current tech.
Btw Windswept looks so much like Lomax, game I loved a ton as a kid and I'm getting it right now >.
Games that ooze charm are always top tier.
We really are spoiled for games nowadays, it's crazy
Maybe it's because of the music but Genokids gives me Guilty Gear vibes.
Poglings character looks like Tomba
I feel like no one actually plays the mundane simulator games. I can understand flight, trucking and even farming sims, but lawn mowing simulator?? Gotta love trimming the lawn in 4k.
I genuinely want a game I can disappear into for a while, hoping starfield or stalker 2 does it for me. Too many games end up in collection checklists to be fun
And the duck and frog game looks adorable
ngl i was prepared to get a more upset by you clowning on something that ive been wildly fixated on for the past four years, but your commentary on touchstarved was kinda funny. its weird to see how this all looks from an outside perspective. also mhin is nonbinary ! its actually called touchstarved because the main character has a curse that makes anyone they touch go psycho murderous, but the main five are immune to it or something so they fall in love live happily(or not) ever after theee endddd. this was a shit summary but whatevs. the demo is out if u wanna play it. also the trailer was animated by knights of the light table and music ft dan avidan from game grumps which is sick af. i love the devs a lot and could talk abt all this for hours,,, also L comment section
My last backed kickstarter was mighty no. 9. Guess if I backed anything else.
Farsiders have an unfortunate animation... For a second the title looked like Fapsiders...
CastleGaynia looks cool
I'm one of those retro fucks who's like oh a duck made of 8bit pixels and it's a platformer i have to play it
As a lesbian, Touchstarved doesn't look like it's my bag, but it does look 100% genius. If I had VC money, I'd put my life savings down on that shit easy.
