I never comment but this was the video I used to mod mine. By far the most comprehensive and easy to follow along. Thank you a million times. It was a success.
Tip to avoid frustration... keep your wires short. 4inch max so Install pico on the side by fan. If your wires are too long it won't boot just giving you A black screen on power up. (Installed on DOL-101)
Great video, very good tips. I tried it this week and was able to successfully install it on my Gamecube, on which the optical drive was not able to read games anymore. It now works like a charm, and brings a few additional features as well. I have to note that it was my first soldering experience, and because the pins are quite small it is not that easy. I recommend anyone in the same case to try soldering on some training board first to get used to the technique !

Can you store game saves on that same SD card or would it be better to have the sd card adapter for game ISOs and an actual memory card for game saves?
All I want to do is get the resolution up to 1080p & the other thing which I cannot remember the name of but is used for tidying up the jagged edges for the graphics. Is it possible?
I'd love to see someone come up with a mod putting a functional 3DS screen into the body of a 2DS XL. Idk if that would involve fitting the whole 3DS board into the body of the 2DS XL or what, but it would be amazing.
One question.. my ISO files are over 4GB and Fat32 formatted SD card won't accept... The Swiss software supports Fat16. Fat32, and exFat.. can I format my SD card using exFat? or should I use Fat32??? If I have to use Fat32, how can I copy my big iso files?
BE CAREFUL when removing the heatsink. Do not wiggle/rotate too much as it can damage the tiny diode array on the bottom left of this video. My advice is to wiggle slightly while gently lifting/prying with a plastic lever on either side of the heatsink.
Is there any way to move/copy/erase memory card game saves with this mod? Just curious- is there any reason you cut the dol files and keep the original package folder within the root folder? Would it work just copying the doi file on its own into the SD root folder? A bit new so just trying to wrap my head around the software file reading process
Cut or copy with both work. The IPL.DOL file just needs to be in the root directory so it can be booted up automatically. You will need the rest of the files that come with the Swiss zipped folder.
Nice job! So this mod is just to run games from SD? If console is region locked i still need to add extra chip to unlock it if i want to play pal games on US console?
With this mod you can play games from all regions by loading them from the SD card in ISO format. If you would like to play games from outside your console's region from a disk, you could install a XenoGC chip also.
The FAT32 file system works with Swiss. Using a formatting tool like GUIformat will allow you to use SD cards larger than 32 GB with the FAT32 file system.
You can press the B button on the swiss menu and then select the icon all the way on the right to get to the original GC menu. Alternatively, you can rename the swiss dol file to any button like "a.dol" and then the GameCube will boot up normally unless you hold down a button while turning it on.
You can directly boot 6 different dol files by holding down the following buttons on the controller A, B, X, Y, Z, and START. Just put those dol files on the root directory of the SD card and rename each to file to A.dol, B.dol, ... and START.dol.
In order to play GBA games, after following all your steps, do I still need to put GBA emulator in emulator Folder? Or I don't need to put anything in emulator folder?
