I lived there for 10 years and I regret moving away a few years ago. Hopefully some day I can move back. It wasn't until I left that I realized what a special place I lived in.
@@tatertots2395 I'm not really sure to be honest, but I think you'd be able to find something. So I'm now actually in the middle of moving back to Okinawa to take care of my mother in law (this virus came at a terrible time so things are going slowly, but I hope to be settled in by August) and I'll be self employed with my current employer becoming my first client. There are a lot of tax related things to be mindful of especially with having to continue to file US taxes as well. I'm certain there are many others who will be in a position like me who would need accounting help. When I previously lived there, I had little problem finding jobs despite my lack of Japanese ability. Networking is huge. By the time I left, I had companies taking me out for dinner and drinks to persuade me to stay in Okinawa and work for them. If you do want to live in Okinawa, seek out international meetups, attend events and such and talk to as many people as you can (get involved in online Facebook groups too). One thing to keep in mind though is that pay in Okinawa is generally lower than the rest of Japan, but the cost of living is low too.
@@arcticblue2 Wow! Thanks for the quick response! I don't think I'll be relocating any time soon (I live in Canada btw), but it's great to hear from someone like yourself who has been there what to expect. It's become unaffordable to live in my city now and Okinawa looks good. Curious if it would be the best for my career in the long run, as I am still in my early 20s.
We are a couple from Greece and we will be in Japan from 2-20/10!! We want to go from Japan until Okinawa. . .you can suggest us a itinerary? Where we can have snorkeling in Okinawa?

How are work opportunities there? For example, an accountant like myself?

No dolphin show for me . Everything else was good but not enough coverage of motobu.
Okinawa is very famous for ikigai. Best wishes from TH-cam channel ENGLOPHOBIA.
