Okinawa is such a beautiful island. I used to live in Okinawa for 2 years, and I loved it. The castle in Okinawa is beautiful as well. Sarah I'm so happy you did a new video on Okinawa, because it is a lovely island.
Thank you for this wonderful video, Brought back memories of the 3 times i have been to Okinawa(many years ago), I can also highly recommend the aquarium. Okinawa is a wonderful place, the scenery, food and people are amazing, such wonderful times i had there. Again, thank you and looking forward to the rest of the series.
I use the same maps while traveling. Thank you for building it! It's exceptionally helpful. Your videos are great and showcase local items better than most. It took me many videos to find this one, which I think is the best of them all. Thank you!
It's so nice to see videos about Okinawa. ❤️ I've been there last September and stayed for 2 weeks. I've been to these places in Okinawa too with my Okinawan boyfriend. ✨ Hope to be back very soon! 😇
That aquarium looks amazing! I love fish and sea life, it's like a magical dimension! I have been looking forward to this series since your trailer.. Okinawa looks absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us. I am looking forward to seeing some of the wonderful food in the next video! Also, Hi Tokyo Foodie Mama! 😁
I was stationed in Okinawa in 1982-1983. Hands down the best 2 years of my life. I had a car (actually had 2 cars) while I was there and drove around the island numerous times. Some of the best times I had were spent swimming in pools made by hidden waterfalls, but most of my weekends were spent scuba diving and snorkeling. I used to scuba dive in Maeda Cape. Scuba diving into the cave was a real adventure. There are a bunch of other great places for scuba diving like Sunabe, Kadena, and Oku way up north. I got a chance to go back in 2007. A lot of things changed in 24 years. Churaumi Aquarium was much bigger than it was in the early 80s. And the food..........I can go on and on. I wouldn't mind living on that island at all.
0:32 Wed Nov 15th 2023 Good Morning TokyofoodiSarah. From Gilbert Arizona USA. The sunset was beautiful. The views in Okinawa are amazing. A definite must go to I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Healthy Blessings 13:35
Cape Manzamou was great. We went there by public bus, walked up the hill from there, were surprised about the building, too. Did you see the "Okinawa Park" T-Shirt design with the poisonous animals in the shop on the 2nd floor? Then walked back from there along the bay to the hotel for like 2 hours - worth it! We didn't make it to the American Village because the bus was late - more late than they always are. Decided to go back to the hotel after Ryukyu Park. Bad weather when we wanted to go to the Blue Cave. The beaches were closed by the end of the week but the dinner buffet was open! We ate so much food! Goya tempura, Beni Imo tempura, Mozuku seaweed, Sea Grapes. Next time: Miyakojima.
Oh no I didn’t see the T-shirt! Sounds like you had a lot of fun in Okinawa ☺️ Stay tuned for my video on what to eat in a few hours! It features dishes you had!
I was lucky enough to be stationed in Okinawa for a little over a year. This video brought back a lot of good memories. I left in 2004, but some of these places looked exactly as I remember them!
Thank you Tokyo Foodie Sarah, Your video helped a lot getting a quick start on the holiday planning. We found the shared map very helpful, because one get a quick idea where everything is located and what attractions can easily be combined. Or on the other hand: Which sights you might have to skip when you use public transport only.
Hey! Nice video! Glad you talked about Hamahiga. It is a nice place, and it has at least 2 nice beaches. I lived in another island (Henza) near it...when there was no bridge between Henza and Hamahiga.
Other places worth visiting are Yomitan Village for the pottery, Midishi markets for the getting fresh cooked fish on the spot for you. Other WW2 history places like Urasoe Castle ruins ( Hacksaw Ridge) The Himeyuri Peace museum and former Japanese Navy underground HQ tunnels all very interesting and very moving. I felt the Umikagi Terrace was boring and it was just a tourist trap.
I’m staying around Naha. More specifically Itoman. I see it’s very far away from the aquarium. Any suggestions on how to get to and from there? Like buses or trains or ferries? Also which of the activities here are close to that spot?
You really need to hire car. Best way of seeing most of Okinawa. The bus service is hopeless and there no major train infrastructure like on the mainland.

Hi Sarah, how is public transportation on this island? If we rent a car, is international driving permit required?
How's the ocean water is it warm or cold?
