Hey Johnny, I enjoyed your video and it was helpful. I'm travelling to Japan in August/September and was considering going to either Miyakojima or Okinawa. It seems the beaches are a bit better here but Okinawa also has some more room for activities in the city. Would you recommend either one for a couple that wants some days of relaxing after some time in the city? We love visiting temples and old architecture and anything cultural if that helps. Thanks!
Hi!! Well, you can do both. Okinawa has old shrines and temples spend a couple of days there then you can move to Miyakojima for a more relaxing trip and enjoy crowd-less beaches.
If I had to choose ☝️ I’d definitely choose Miyakojima though. Naha is too much of a city for me. Just my opinion. ☺️
Thank you for your informative video. I am planning a trip to Okinawa/Miyakojima. How are the food prices compares to major Japanese cities, such as Tokyo, Osaka, etc. The reason I ask is because some island destinations, due to its remote location, cost of everyday living is actually higher than major mainland cities. Thank you for your kind information.
When did you go? I’m thinking I’ll try in May hopefully the weather is as great as what you had
May weather is quite stable I would say.
More sunny days than September. But expect a lot of visitors especially on the first week of May becoz it’s the golden week.
Did you have any warnings of jellyfish being in the areas where you could swim? I visited Ishigaki and was told there were jellies in the shallows.
yea!! almost all the time. Especially from snorkeling guides. They told us to wear rash guard swimsuits for protection. But luckily we didn’t encounter them only friendly turtles.
@@JohnHikerDolar I'm glad you didn't get stung! We hung out close to the shore on Ishigaki and two lifeguards approached us and said the jellies hang out in the shallows, which we were about to swim in. Thanks for your reply.

Hi! I haven’t been to Ishigaki yet. But I heard a lot of good things about it from friends. I also researched about it coz I was in the same position as you. But if you love spending a slow time at the beach then Miyakojima is great.

I haven’t been there in October but I visited in December two years ago. The water might be a little bit cooler than usual.
Hello. Where did you rent a car? I’m having troubles finding it online, all rent a cars are saying they don’t have availability for that region
Well, we took a package deal which has a hotel, rent-a-car and plane tickets already included. The thing is, it was a Japanese company. But I believe taking package deals would save you a lot of time rather than it doing by yourself.
