The deal breaker for me with matte screens is the noise on bright images. If you look at something white with a matte screen, you will see sort of a rainbow noise on it. More expensive screenprotectors or factory matte screens have much less of this, but it's still there.

I had a matte screen protector on my iPad, expected it to have a better writing experience. Although it has added little bit of resistance, the reduced clarity was a huge issue, because I read a lot when using my iPad since I am a student, so I removed it after a month and went back to using a naked screen. @bullymaguire6315 2 ปีที่แล้ว +61

One thing to also take note about these Matte Tempered Glass screen protectors is that usually after 6-12 months of use, it will lose some of the matte finish depending on your heavy usage (especially for those that play games on it often), thus making smudges become more visible over time. Its still my favourite kind of screen protectors though, as it only cost me a dollar or two if I order them from China. The reduction in clarity is there, but its not even that big of a deal to me.

For those who are turned off by glossy tempered glass issues with smudges and fingerprints, you could buy those oleophobic liquid coating that will definitely makes your screen protector fingerprint resistant. I have one and it lasts for a month then I just re apply. Its really cheap. Bought one for 10$ for 50ml which should be enough for i think 50 applications probably as long as one keeps his phone.

I use a kinda new screen protector technology, it’s more expensive than a tempered glass protector, but it’s so worth it. It’s called ShieldUp here in Europe, it’s a flexible, very durable protector, the glossy one heals small scratches, the matte version is a privacy protector as well. Only downside is you can’t really just buy one and get it home, specific shops install it on your phone. Positive thing is, I don’t have to deal with broken shards of tempered glass anymore 😇 worked in a shop where we showcased its durability by stabbing scissors into a poor huawei p20 with a ShieldUp protector on it, screen never broke, that for me was enough to install it on my phone as well

ive tried matte screen protectors before. They feel nice and reduce glare but it comes with a cost, diffusion.
The diffusion of the actual light coming from the screen makes it harder in some cases to actually see the content, defeating the point of reducing glare. The feeling overall is much better but when a bright light hits it, it's so difficult to see anything.

I remember my first time getting a matte screen protector was when the Moto X on like 2015. I don't remember what the resolution of the screens were but I remember the quality of the image not feeling that degraded.
Today one of the biggest drawbacks for me is the poor image quality. But we humans do get used to things pretty quickly.. so after about three days you will definitely get used to it. I had it on my 21 Ultra.. and now the 22 u.
I work at FedEx and nothing can beat being able to easily see my phone in all environments. Outside in the sun, in the evening time, in the truck, the terminal, at home, etc.
I messed up the screen of my 22 u and when I got it back from being fixed, I was crazy surprised of the clarity and sharpness. So much so that I bought a wet apply plastic screen protector and been back ever since.
After watching this video, I kind of feel like busting out that last matte protector I have left in the drawer... I know I'll regret it, and I can always switch back cause I do have one more clear one, but I feel like once I do I'll get used to it lol

Nice! Thank you for this video. I wanted to find a matte screen protector for iPhone but they weren't easy to find for a phone even though I have one on my iPad. I like matte as much as you do I think for all the same reasons. I ran across this accidentally by finding your reviews while looking for iPhone cases for iPhone 15 Pro Max which led me to know about the Tac cases -- which I think I will love -- so a double plus here.

I may be upgrading to the base iPhone 14 and when I do this will be the first thing I do. I just hate fingerprint smudges especially on new phones. I don't mind the reduction in clarity and in fact I am typing this on a laptop with a matte screen.

I use a matte screen protector on my iPad-I actually really enjoy it, as an aspiring artist. It makes drawing feel a bit more natural to me (the one I bought was specifically labeled on Amazon as “paper feel”). I recommend it to people who don’t really mind the noise that it causes on the display and the lack of sharpness and who want a nicer feeling experience scrolling. But beware while installing it if you have pets, I have 3 cats at home, and everything I touch ends up getting cat hair on it, so there’s a few little annoying hairs that are stuck under my screen protector that annoy me every once and a while. But otherwise, I really like how it looks and feels. It’s a nice feeling after using my phone, which has no screen protector, or the iPads distributed by my school district that we have to use for schoolwork (also no screen protector).

Been using matte screen protector for almost 3 years and what I can say is, I love it especially when gaming, your sweats wont stick onto the screen and it stays smooth to the touch. I'm a gamer and it's a huge bonus for me. But yeah, gotta sacrifice the screen quality for that. Really want to feel the real screen quality of my S20 FE. Got to feel it once when changing the screen protector but not for long. I once considered changing back to clear screen protector but I might regret it later, so matte all the way lol

Back in 2012-2015 like matte screen protectors seem to be the only ones or the default ones at the time was before tempered glass so I was still using the soft screen protectors I think I had like 2 screen protector on one of my phone because the one with design was obviously was not as protective that I had a more proper one over it to protect it. Those were matte screen protectors and for me at the time I always wish I can choose glass screen protectors because I had an android and back then they only had glass screen protectors for iPhones and had to wait till like 2016 that got glass ones

matte screen protectors look really cool, but it blocks alot of the light of the screen, its harder to see in direct sunlight and the color distort a lot, other downside is that they become shiny over time, I have notice that the screen protector become shiny where I use the gesture the most, so they dont hold up in time that well. I think they are cool tho, they block reflections and look pretty slick, but gloosy one are still the way to go

I have this one in my X3 pro true it's not a iphone, so what what I'm telling is my experience on this matte screen protector, well it's a little bit more prone in scratches than a glossy screen protector but it's very satisfying to touch cuz fingerprint is not that much visible and it's very good in the hand
