    Had mine for two weeks now and loving it. I don't play out, just for my own enjoyment. The two watt setting takes a minimal amount of tone away that is barely noticeable. Great practice or bedroom amp. Only about 35 pounds so if you want to jam with someone it pretty portable. The 20 watt gets much louder than you think, you could always run it through you PA. Try one out , it's not american made but the price and sound can't be beat.

    I bought a Blues Jr and returned it for this amp. There's no comparison in terms of the tones you can get without pedals!

    Interesting. I have Blues Jr, but also and HT1 and an Artist 10AE. I’ve been toying with the idea of consolidating them and getting this. I need to try it out. It has all the functionality I like and in a great package.

    • @sfmalone
      @sfmalone 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fusion72 hey. After asking some owners on Facebook (blackstar group forum) the consensus was that the artist was a better platform for pedals and tonally preferred, though the HT 20 has more functionality. To date I’ve stuck with what I have. That doesn’t mean I still don’t want one! But I think for my style I’m good with what I have...for now ;)

    I bought an HT 20 MKII combo Saturday. I didn't really need an amp. It was new in my local guitar store and I tried it out. I'm really impressed so far. I haven't even scratched the surface yet. The name of this video cracked me up. I have a Blues Junior also, and it cost the same as the HT 20. The Blackstar gets almost exactly the same tone on clean channel 1, then you have 3 more channels of versatility. Not to mention 2 power levels. I can't wait to try out the direct recording. I wish I hadn't bought the Blues Junior now, even though it is a nice sounding amp. This is an excellent bargain.

      Nice to know sgmarshall3, I in the same boat as you ..have a Bl.Jr. and a HT 5 but i need a little more pwr.Just sold my blues Jr. so ..more reason to get this one.

      Scott Exler I like the tone, but I have to warn you that it's a bit noisy when the master volume gets halfway up or more. It doesn't come through on the direct recording though

    EL84s in a well-designed combo that can sound like a Fender, Marshall, Laney, and a wide range of tones in-between (maybe not VOX...?) - pretty impressive.

    Sounds so good I just bought one - But no button for reverb on the remote pedal?????? All these other great features but no way to remotely turn reverb on/off? It Boggles the mind.

    hi, if i want to use my overdrive pedal. does the amplifier respond well?
    and do you recommend the clean channel or overdrive?

  • @thesojourner7722
    @thesojourner7722 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The first thing you do is upgrade the speaker and the tubes. I got a V30 and JJ's and it's no joke 1st class tone. The new speaker gave it easily 10% more volume as it's so efficient and the JJ's just complete the tone and depth. Then I run it with my vertical 212 with a V30 and G12h75 (effectively 3x12) and it's freaking unreal tone I swear. Sooooo happy now.

    • @eocha24
      @eocha24 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If someone needs to buy new tubes and speakers you might as well just buy the head and get the speaker cab you want. As for tubes that's not that big of a deal But new tubes and save the ones that came from the amp just in case the ones you buy for bad. But if your gonna start swapping speakers out then why buy the combo?

      @BrianRowland_Google 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amen to that! BB15 is definitely not for me. Tried it, cleans are so quiet you could never use it for anything but practice, sitting right in front of it. Volume levels change DRASTICALLY when you change the low - mid - high knob. Good tone, but a silly bad amp in regards to how little volume you can squeeze out of the low and mid settings.

    • @mattgilbert7347
      @mattgilbert7347 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrianRowland_Google I had mine fully overhauled, retubed, shielded, etc added a 112 extension cab and now it's great. Cost me $180 all up. Plenty loud enough now in low and, especially, mid-gain settings. Takes certain pedals very well, others less so. It's a "fussy" amp.
      I did grab a Blackstar HT20 Studio Mk1 for $450AUD new and it's a fine amp. Love the EL34 tones.
      Ideally, I'd want a Laney Lionheart LT20 but they are so expensive in Australia - and damn heavy as well!! I'm not getting any younger (or richer).
