    Well, it’s November 18, 2022. Today I followed your video again, and installed the OctoKlipperPi program on my Rpi. I’ve told Klipper that my XVico-Lerdge-K-Creality E-Fit is an Anet A8, and here we go. I’ll be using the second half of this video to guide me through initial programming of Klipper. It’s interesting how familiar this is after I spent five months trying to get a Duet board to work.

    So much has happened in three years. Now there's a OctoKlipperPi OS for the Raspberry Pi. Aren't you glad I suggested you check out Klipper? Talk about being on the ground floor of what has turned into a revolution! (November 13, 2022). Say Hi, Bryan, so I know you're alive!

    At 3:30 you asked if anyone has a good use for coordinate offset. If you install a different extruder to your machine quite often it will move the nozzle a little bit. My guess is the coordinate offset is for correcting that.

    "The whole point of a computer is to make things easier right?" WRONG! The point of a computer is to tweak it until it breaks so that we have something to fix, then that means we have something we can tweak until it breaks which means we have something to fix. ;)

    Gr8 but would you mind clarifying please. When you install Klipper to Raspberry SD with Octoprint, will Klipper work even if you have not Klipper update printer firmware? EG do we still get same control but with less resources using Klipper with Octopi rather than Octopi alone? Thanks, Al PS I have trouble posting due to browser issues.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark. I haven't gotten that far yet. I've got a couple of tuning items yet to do on Klipper (pressure advance being the first). I'm debating picking up a set of aluminum extrusions and turning this stock A8 into an AM8 or something similar. I'm having a hard time getting a decent level of accuracy out of this acrylic frame. I'm hoping with a more rigid frame, I'll get better Z axis alignment on the prints.

    • @corlissmedia2.0
      @corlissmedia2.0 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      BV3D: Bryan Vines I have to say, after spending months and months with my AM8 build, well, good freaking luck with that. Every time I do an upgrade, it’s back to square-fring 1. Case in point: I just installed the wham bam bed. And Everything is now a complete mess. I installed the tronxy sensor, boy, was that a disaster. And I’ve been flashing the board to get auto bed leveling to work, and I finally through the tronxy in the garbage. (Decided to pull it out later.) after printing two beautiful vases, this is really disheartening.

    • @corlissmedia2.0
      @corlissmedia2.0 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's an idea: I'll send you MY AM8. You can give it a go, use it for a couple of videos, put klipper on it, see what it can do, that kind of thing, kind of, given this great frame, this AM8 with these bells and whistles, what's possible, let's see! And after some videos, you can show the world of TH-cam what one can accomplish with the lowly Anet A8 upgraded to a decent level. You could do a kind of comparison, of sorts. I bet a lot of people would like to see what's really possible with the Anet A8 / AM8 / with Marlin (2.0?), with the E3D V6 setup, with the Wham Bam bed, etc. And with Klipper maxed out. Maybe do three videos? something like that? Then send it back upgraded, to me? Interested?@@BV3D

I cannot connect OctoKlipper to my printer even though I know my printer SKR v2 board is firmware updated with Klipper and I can run the printer with Fluidd with no problems. I briefly saw you have a /tmp/printer serial port.. How did you get that selected?.. I tried adding /tmp/printer but I cannot select or use it... . I cannot get Octoprint to connect . Until then I will have to use Fluidd

    I'm confused with the Clipper firmware on octoklipper. How is this used in relation to the Klipper firmware installed on me SKR 1.3 board? Does that still get used, or is this overwriting that one? I am changing probing settings in octoklipper but it's not affecting what the printer is doing.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi ocha6521, the OctoKlipper plug-in is a convenience tool, making it a little easier to work with Klipper. It gives you quick access to the configuration files and lets you set up macro buttons for commands. But as far as I know, the Klipper installation process is still:
      1. Install Klipper on Raspberry Pi that already has OctoPrint on board
      2. Create the printer's half of Klipper using "make menuconfig"
      3. Flash the resulting printer firmware to the printer
      4. Perform configuration tasks
      I've got a half-hour tutorial showing how to do this with an Anet A8: th-cam.com/video/EX8dJkdcmJQ/w-d-xo.html

    I’d think the offset might be useful if you print something, go to bed, etc., the print finishes, looks good from the camera, and you want to print another without having to go and clear the bed ...

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting idea. As long as the first print's position on the bed doesn't interfere with the homing of the axes for the next print, that might work. 👍
