    In today's video we take a look at Obico the new and improved version of Spaghetti Detective. This is a remote monitoring addon for Octoprint and now Klipper that allows you to check in on your printer from anywhere, run failure detection, and start prints remotely. We cover some of the updates as well as how to install this on Klipper.

    being able to host it myself is a game changer to me. Software dependent on cloud services tends to be a timebomb.

    I Have 5 printers with Klipper but run less cameras on them then I did before. This is because I get so few failures now. Some of the other features of a self hosted server could be cool to see. Seeing the server setup and it's features would be interesting.

    I’ve been running a self hosted server and like it. I actually forget about it for the most part, since I don’t have many printing issues. Today, however, I had a print come loose, and I got a message on my phone that the printer was paused. I went in to check and was able to clean it up and restart it. Much better than when I’ve let a print run overnight and woke up to a tangled mess. I just converted my Ender 3 Pro to Klipper a free days ago. I’ll have to see if I can get it attached to my self hosted server using your video

    Sweet didn't know it worked with klipper, thanks for the tutorial! Messed with it some on octoprint and it's a nice plugin that's pretty generous even at the free tier.

  • @aqhan
    @aqhan ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah, I'm using it and it's great, for most part. I found that if I'm using a very dark filament with agyroid infil, it trigers false positives, as it thinks it's a spaghetti. But for all other things, it worked great for me.

    I don't have a webcam right now, but if we can have a self hosted error detector I'd be up for it! I just started to look on the webpage hoping it has a Docker alternative, as I'd love to install it on my NAS

    Is it possible to host the Obico server on the same raspberry pi that is running Klipper/Moonraker?

    • @matheufletcher7387
      @matheufletcher7387 ปีที่แล้ว

      The requirements page of their site says that any model of the pi isn’t powerful enough for Obico by itself, so it certainly won’t be able to do both.

    I think a lot of your viewers are interested in a self hosted server. Could you let us know what the cost would be if you did that yourself? Is there a licensing charge and would it be based on printers and hours?

    • @sergeb7945
      @sergeb7945 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've visited their website, and they are very elusive about the self-hosted price plan. I mean I've browsed all the pages. No information to be found about that. Looks like they don't want to answer the first question that comes to everyone's mind. Thus, they will certainly charge you
      Kinda confirmed by the only piece of information found:
      "Possible cost savings
      With an optimal server congifuration, self-hosting may cost less than paying for an Obico Cloud Pro Plan."

    • @woodwaker1
      @woodwaker1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sergeb7945 Thanks for checking this out. My question is if this is open source then I could see for a hosting charge, but if it is self hosted - why a charge.

    • @sergeb7945
      @sergeb7945 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@woodwaker1 Yep, I've the same question: I mean it's open source (source code available), the whole system (AI engine + push notification) is hosted on your own local server, so what for do they want to charge you? This doesn't make sense...

    • @Obico-io
      @Obico-io ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no licensing fee associated with self-hosting your own Obico server. As the software is free and open-source, the only associated costs are those accrued through running your own self-hosted server. Setting up and maintaining your own server takes some technical chops, but if you have basic Linux and networking knowledge, it can be a fun project! Obico cloud is great for anyone looking for a more plug-and-play solution for remote monitoring and AI failure detection.

    • @woodwaker1
      @woodwaker1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Obico-io Thanks for the clarifying the costs. A large number of us are hobbyists and have a number of printers. We are concerned about the costs, so this helps a lot.

    • @Obico-io
      @Obico-io ปีที่แล้ว

      Any webcam that delivers a decent picture will do. Many of Obico's users are using Logitech C270, which seems to be available on Amazon for under $30.
