- Best-of-5 series of top level StarCraft 2 between Maru and HeroMarine. In this series that was played during Dreamhack Masters we see a variety of matches. The macro games in this series go from the 1-1-1 opener, to Marine Tank based compositions, to Terran Mech and eventually Sky Terran.

I just love that even if I wasn't a fan of starcraft and didn't know how to play, Lowko does such a great job of explaining what is happening in the match I would be able to thoroughly enjoy a match of starcraft without even having played the game.

I've had starcraft 2 since it came out but only ever played the campaigns since 1v1 scared me. I really like professional starcraft though and after years of watching you cast I finally played some games against real people. I'm really bad but I never would have given it a shot if not for your enthusiasm about this game. It's a really intimidating game but you make it seem approachable to someone like me who hasn't really ever played an RTS, you explain and talk about what's going on in the game and discuss strategies instead of just saying what's happening and assuming everyone follows. Glad I stumbled onto your channel, maybe one day I'll match with you on the ladder and I can play the person who put me onto the game lol
You have to be patient with yourself, start out simple, figure out what race you fit with the best, and be okay with a loss, and learn from it.
It is extremely rage inducing if you allow it to be, it definitely favors the more aggressive player, vs matches I mean.

Maru is a late game god and he just doesn’t die meaning he makes it to the late game where he is just so good
Terran is my favorite race, I just love the leches it has and the idea of a race that kinda curb stomps things with stuff such as thors and siege tanks, BCs are super cool too, gaahhh I love this race so much

Going into the final fight of game 1, HeroMarine has a 20 army supply lead. After the opening engagement, it jumps up to a 50 supply lead before dropping down below Maru's army supply. Absolutely insane.

@@edusc6893 I tried that once, it didn't last long! Amazing how different the SC2 races are to play, but I can just about handle Protoss and the occasional dip into Zerg. Terran's just... awkward! Also widow mines are evil.

Sadly i fear that Terran would loose horribly. Feedback is super nasty vs BCs and they need the Yamato Cannons to win vs Voidrays, carriers and Tempest.

MULES don't cost supply because they're fully automated robots that fall from command in orbit. Ground troops require food and bunk food and crew and such.

this is my first time i saw someone build a sensor tower when Lowko is casting
I'd imagine that pylons and overlords build quicker than depots because, in combination with supply drop, pylons are also needed for other structures to work, while overlords are also used as scouts and transport, while a depot is a building that you generally don't have to do anything with? So pylons are key targets, and overlords are in harm's way a bit more?
I used to watch so much Maru and Boxer years ago.

FYI Kevlar is only decent against handguns. Any center-fire rifle round will zip through it. For actual combat you need Level III or better plate armor.
Of course my anti-armor rifle will zip clean through 3" of steel plate (the thickest I could find) and no body armor in the world can stand up to that, and few vehicles short of main battle tanks.

Maru is basically Starcraft 1's Flash, only slightly worst. There's a reason for the old saying that when playing against Maru it's not XvT but rather XvM(Maru) as he's on a class of his own.

I love how every time hes like "Welcome back to another *professional* match of StarCraft 2!" When half of them aren't even played on a medeocre level and the players are running on pure caffeine to keep going

You always say HeroMarine is super underrated and is super good. I mostly watch your videos and some live streamed games. And I have never seen you cast a game of Gabe winning or seen it in stream. I can tell he’s good but I’ve never seen him win a pro game.
Might be worth noting that unseiged tanks deal more damage to single target over time, but not for short engages (e.g. if you would only get one shot off, or 2 sieged shots vs. 3 unseiged shots). But this is SC2 so everything is situational

Ignite afterburner is the ability that the upgrade "Rapid reignition system improves" I presume it lowers colldown but it might extend duration.

I believe the reason that supply depots take longer to build is to balance command centers offering more unit supply than the hatchery or nexus. It is mostly an early game balance mechanic because terrans are slightly more reliant on units for early game defense, at least on paper. Since terrans also don't have as many supply heavy units as the other races in the mid game, this falls off as the game goes on, in theory.
Lowko Maru is not just better, he is the bettercruiser!
Poor Jimmy. He was just two days from retirement. He led the fight against the Zerg to defend Earth, but was demoted due to an accidental weapons discharge that gave away a sensitive position to the enemy. Could have happened to anybody and a smaller man would have folded, but he endured new Space Marine training because he loves his country. RIP.

About the depot thing , they take 3 more seconds , the reason is how strong proxy rax is if that 3 second nerf didn't exist , it goes all the way back to wings of liberty

Imagine an EMP on all of those Raven. Its gonna be hard cuz there are detectors, but zero energy raven is like overseer that consume supply. Practically useless. Guess that would be 2022 TvT
Wait! EMP on battlecruiser, now that would be next level starcraft. Ghost idle in bases like high templar to catch "Battlecruiser runby". Hope what I am saying is not viable tho, love this TvT development

From what I understand the algorithm likes it better when people watch 100% of a video, as it picks it up as good content, in a manner of speaking, when a video get's let's say 30% watch time the algorithm doesn't suggest it as much (even to subscribers), resulting in losses for the youtuber, so while this would be an viewer friendly strategy, it would actually be bad for Lowko. Blame the youtube gods D:
