      Yes, it was really crazy. I thought to myself, why doesn't he move his ass? What a slowpoke. Hooper then showed him how to move.

If you hadn’t been rushed and out of breath and able to put your wrist wraps on in time I have no doubt that 2nd rep would’ve been locked out. 2025 I think you’ll get back to a comfortable level of pressing that won’t cost you big points and then you’ll be unstoppable💪🏼

    The overhead was unfortunate, but we knew going in that was gonna be a tough one, but man, that stone run was insane.
    Have to note though how impressive it was that Mitch came second despite having to lap three stones vs Toms 1 stone (even if Tom had hit the buzzer), really show one of his greatest strengths, namely his lack of downtime, he is great at simply hurrying up, at making sure he spends as little time as possible in between the movements.
    The pressing still needs some work obviously but it's getting there, I think if you'd had more leg drive you'd have been at least mid pack for the relay as well, you can just tell that you're having to press so much harder than some of the lighter guys who simply jump beneath the log. But with those legs of yours I totally believe you can do something similar! Go Thor!

      Going last for hooper definitely gives him an advantage, knowing how much he needs to do, Tom moved slowly between stones and if he'd done after thor he might ve sped up....ultimately doesn't matter only what happens on the day matters

    • @martinshoosterman
      @martinshoosterman 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Yeah, hoopers run looks a lot less impressive,
      And to be fair, it is, 1 motioning every single stone is simply insane. But hooper was extremely impressive in a different way.
      His 2 motions were barely slower than the 1 motion, and his time in between stones was non existent. He played it safe picking up the stones, but gave everything to transition as quickly as possible.
      It is a blessing to get to watch both performances

    Why not try to improve the shoulder press by taking 6 months off competition and come back in your best shape ever to leave no stone unturn? I think this could be a good strategy since it may take ATLEAST 1 full year for your shoulder press to come back if you keep competing in between!

    The points scoring system in strongman competitions sucks. I think it should be closer to what we see in F1. Surely crushing the entire field in most events should make you the strongest man rather than being second best at everything.

    At this point the chance of strict pressing 200kg overhead like he did in 2018-2020 is very slim for Thor . He already pressed 175kg log at Arnold UK in March and 8 months later there seems no improvement. I think Thor really needs to focus on better leg drive to get his overhead press back.
    Also, I am baffled by why the post-injury PRs in dumbells and incline benches presses do not translate to improvements in Log? His training lifts are clearly getting better. I really hope Thor and Team can sort this out and take the throne back from Hooper. Always Team Thor!
    EDIT AFTER DAY 2: Thor showed great improvement in the Overhead medley today. The fact that he kept up with Mitch until the 405 axle is really impressive

      Thor improved greatly though, ohp after and injury might take years to come back, for what he has done in this year he actually is doing great, also ramping up weights like crazy will just call for another injury. He gotta be smart, slow and steady but surely his pressing will be back even if that takes another year or so. Might as well keep in mind this log was thicker than his metal log or the slater log used in the Arnold's UK, that actually gave hell to all atlethes this day cause cleaning and pressing a rather awkward (or more awkward than usual) implement is a challenge. Boomer he really needed that second rep but though

    • @Technique-kj2bp
      @Technique-kj2bp 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      you're not factoring in strength on the day and the confidence he is clearly still lacking in pushing to the max. To say that his pressing is very unlikely to improve is a bit premature, especially when we know he is still improving his gym pr's post injury

    • @MrRm747
      @MrRm747 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@antoniocenteno1483 I just think the rate of progression will be much faster if Thor learns how to use leg drive more effectively. His speed of improvement has slowed down significantly from month 1 - 11 (complete torn pec in Apr 2023 -> lifting 184kg axle and 175 log in Mar 2024) than from month 12-19 (max log staying at 170-180kg).
      But yes, I agree that staying healthy is the most important. I guess I am just too eager to see Thor beating Mitch. After all, if it takes 2 more years for Thor to get his pressing back, that's losing 6 more competitions to Mitch.
