Marillion, both eras are great. Still a massive fan from the eighties to now. Great live band.

Isso é que é música de verdade, com músicos extraordinários, letra profunda, sombria e ao mesmo tempo tão poética, não é atoa que essa é a melhor banda de todas as galáxias!!!!!

A beautiful song by them is Estonia…studio live with string quartet.
Another is Sugar Mice in the Rain.

This is my band since i was 12 years starting with misplace Childhood. Now i am 51 and about 100 marillion and 60 fish solo live visits further. This song was always so emotionel but after the last fish concert in holland in Maastricht for 3 weeks it is so so sad.
    I loved you reactio n

The whole album is incredible. I bought it in 1987 on the day it came out and it blew me away. In my opinion the best album the band made with Fish. I thought the band had died when he left but Steve Hogarth came in and added a new dimension to the band. If White Russian resonated with you I’d give the Hogarth era song “Gaza” from 2012 a listen. Absolutely haunting and thought provoking too

Holy crap! Such a great band with Fish! You should listen to the entire album because it’s a concept album. Yes, dark. They were a modern mix of Genesis and a few other bands. Excellent musicians. And the lyrics were always so amazing, poetic, symbolic and metaphorical. This album is about alcoholism, among other things.

It was released in 1987 on the album "Clutching at Straws"
It was dealing with the shift politically in the western world to the right and the dangers of allowing the rise of Neo-Nazism

Listen to Grendal also if you want a story , it's beowolf from the side of the monster . A 19 minute masterpiece .

British prog band. So many great bands have become forgotten in time. Marillion still has their fans, but it’s a fairly small fan base.
I usually don’t care for prog but Marillion seems to fit in there quite nicely somehow.

Ah you found Marillion at last. Fantastic band so many great songs. The Fish era by far the best. This album is amazing from start to finish. Chelsea Monday is brilliant, try The Web, (original, not remaster) also from Script… you’ll see how Stephen Rothery ranks amongst the greats, Gilmour/ Lifeson/ Blackmore/ Rhodes, etc. awesome soloist Jigsaw, Sugar Mice, etc. Fish’s lyrical brilliance shines through too.

Their early big epic was "Grendel", based on the Anglo-Saxon myth story. Most are more personal & social observations. The "Misplaced Childhood" album was a concept one based on Fish's childhood, inspired whilst on a 10 hour acid trip. That was also their biggest selling record, going to No.1 in the UK and reaching Platinum status.

No he didn’t, he got the name because when he worked for the forestry commission and staying in digs he was only allowed to have a bath once or twice a week, so when he did he spent hours in the bath hence the name of Fish. He’s on his farewell tour as he retires next year and says he will revert to just using his actual name of Derek, I’m going twice.

He, She, Their: Got that from an associate of Derrick's in an interview (did I get the spelling wrong as well🤬). Been a huge fan of both Marillion and Fish, while being lucky enough to have seen them both. I appreciate hearing your version because up till I heard/saw interview, I never gave it a thought, and to be perfectly upfront, Fish was a heavy drinker and just recently cut down; quit for a couple months with his wife.

@@hemispheres6942 I got my version from him, he had said it many times and did so again on his Fish on Friday live videos he did from lockdown till very recently on FB, as they are archived on his website, you can probably find it. There is no disputing he was a drinker but he's Scottish, we all are (or were in my case).
