A factory fresh Ford Fiesta Mk3 1.1 with one owner and 422 miles from new!
EQUIPMENT
Polycarbonate bumpers with no insert, no sunroof, non-tinted glass, no black decal on b-pillar, narrow bodyside mouldings, single tone horn, front wipers without intermittent function, no rear wash/wipe, halogen headlights, laminated windscreen, locking fuel filler, anti-burst locks, two spoke soft feel steering wheel, heated rear window, remote door mirrors, small space in lieu of clock, no centre console, glove box without lid, Ford self-seek Model 2001 stereo with no cassette, no tachometer, courtesy light, darkness in lieu of load compartment light, no passenger sunvisor vanity mirror. Dealer Options: Ford immobiliser.
EXTERIOR
To suggest that this example is as new is a bold statement, but one which is wholly justified with this perfect Fiesta. Perhaps most impressive is the underside which has been preserved in a time warp condition, with all orange PDI markings to the suspension components, yellow paint dots to the springs and factory stickers still intact, all features usually destroyed within the first few weeks! In factory original Diamond White, (Code B 2), the paintwork to all factory panels is 100% original and essentially as new. The trim sections are perfect and supplying Ford dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and tax disc holder with first issue 1992 disc remain fitted!
INTERIOR
The cabin space with Goodwood Grey fabric trim, (Code L V), is simply as it sat in the showroom awaiting collection by the first and only owner. Seats, door cards, headlining and carpets are as new throughout. The controls and switchgear have bright clear symbols and the new car feel which is lost soon after regular use. All functions operate flawlessly including the ultra-rare Ford self-seek model 2001 stereo with lack of cassette player which was fitted to all models bar the most basic ‘Fiesta’.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.1 HCS four cylinder ‘Valencia’ engine is a redesigned version of the Kent unit dating back to the 1950’s and Ford Anglia era! Specification includes a twin-venturi carburettor and manual choke set up which produces a rather pedestrian 53bhp at 5200rpm whereby a top speed of 94mph and 0-60mph is achieved in 14.2 seconds. The pristine engine bay has original plates, fragile paper stickers/labels and factory panel stampings clearly visible. A new Ford Motorcraft oil filter and the red Ford HT Leads remain fitted. The four-speed manual gearbox is slick and superlight.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory steel wheels of size 4½ x 13 are in perfect order with the original full wheel covers fitted and as new. The original seeking collector with be pleased to see factory fitted Michelin MX L 155/70 R13 tyres all-round which should be renewed if the car is to be put into use. Fully overhauled in October 2024 after long term storage, the servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with 9½” discs up front and 7”drums at the rear are free and operate correctly.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 26th March 1992 by Meridian Ford Leicester, this exceptional example was purchased by Mr Thompson who was to be the only owner the car has had. A new vehicle order form and subsequent sales invoice is made out to Mr Thompson illustrating a price paid of £6,200 for this most basic of the Fiesta model. Sadly, quite soon after purchasing the vehicle Mr Thompson began to lose his sight which meant the car was left garaged and could not be used. The almost inconceivable 422 miles from new is absolutely genuine and until now, the car was last on the road in around 1996. Despite the clear lack of use, the car was kept on the road for the first fours years and there are four stamped Ford main dealer entries in the service book covering this period. In October 2024 the car was discovered and has since undergone a major service, recommissioning and brake overhaul using genuine Ford parts where possible. The history file has all welcome letters from Ford following initial purchase as well as all corresponding Ford service invoices and checklists. The first MOT certificate in 1995 has been kept as have all tax discs from 1992 to 1996. The full book pack is present with even the ford cardboard sleeve that the document wallet was supplied in! Three keys including the master blade and codes tags are present.
HPI Clear.
That's the quietest HCS engine i've heard. Not surprised at just 422 miles. I hope who ever buys it puts as few miles on it as possible and takes it to shows.
no, hope someone pick it up on a trailer and keeps it in a headed garage/museum with no use. Why do you want to spoil it?
A new machined rocker shaft and perfected adjusted tappets and they run silky smooth, had many HCS fords back in the day, such an easy engine to work on,unless you snap a spark plug off for the first time then you shit ya self 😂.
@@alancobbin My brother's MK3 1.1LX went into the garage to have some work done to it. Came back sounding like a sewing machine as the garage did the valve clearances. It never broke down either.
Thank you for your comments!
I never knew the engine to be called a HCS I always knew it as the Kent engine, every day is a school day
This belongs in a motoring museum!
It really does!
I used to work as a ford technician when these were new nice to see this old girl brought back memories of adjusting valves on a service

Lovely car.. it reminds me so much of my dear late mum’s H reg white 950cc bonus which she owned through most of the 1990s
Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely stunning! What a survivor. You guys have some kind of detector for ultra low mileage cars!!
Stunning!
my first car one of these. absolutely cracking simple motor. it was slow but it took me everywhere very reliably
Very reliable!
Absolutely mint fiesta oh the days of a manual choke to pull out probably the best example out there 😊
Thank you!
@@steve_o379 same here and could put your hand in to the side of the carb and adjust the idle speed too
Such happy memories, even had the immobiliser in the exact same place as my mk 3 ,what a beauty 👍
Thank you!
The little choke orange yellow light too.
Basic but very reliable Indeed
Must have been scary if it fell out whilst driving.
Clean little car and so many people relate to their noise level.. But ex ford tech 90s when the ohv pushrod valve clearances were set.. Extremely quiet it lasted 6 months and were as loud as a bag of spanners again.
Very reliable little engines. That's a very clean little car 😊😊
Thank you for sharing!
What made the valve clearances go out of whack after 6 months? Was it because the rockers, valves and pushrods moving so quick?
If I bought it I’d treat it as. ‘New’ old car purchase and drive it the way it was intended. You can’t buy a new car for that price these days so think of it that way. There are plenty of cars in museums - this car wasn’t made to sit doing nothing.
if there was a new car that was extremely basic and had no safety features than it would be less than 9995.
Thank you for your comment!
Had the 1.4 ghia in black on a G reg,great cars ✊
Great cars!
20 years ago i paid 50 quid for mine. :)Had a rev counter and a very custom side exit exhaust.. !0 grand i am not sure but if i bought this i would actually put some miles on it and use it as was intended, would protect it with a lot of care but would use it. What i mean is if i was buying a basic model car for that price even one of this age and in such good consition i would have to use it and not just have it sitting about wasting away .
Thank you for your comment!
For anyone looking to spend 10k on a new car- which let's be frank- is on the budget end of things- I'd suggest this would be a wonderful buy. Will drive as well as anything today, cheap as chips to run and maintain- and if looked after, will not depreciate as much as other new cars...
Just think- something like a Kia Picanto starts at around 15k !!!
If you start piling on the miles it'll lose considerable value. The low mileage is part of the appeal. This is one for shows only.
Thank you for sharing!
Agree this classic wouldn't deprecate as quickly.
Just would need an extensive undersealing with wax oil and POR 15 underseal before I'd take that on the road.
Preserve it.
This is a brand-new car .. I do hope she finds a good home.
It really is!
Wow! What a little beauty! I'll always have a soft spot for the Fiesta as my first car was a Mk1 950.....base! It's so nice to see a lowly spec one in that condition!
Wow!
I also own I mk3 so much fun lovely little car
Great cars!
Stunning little car but crazy money 😮
Basically a brand new car at the end of the day, try finding another that's museum worthy 😉
@@hughjass2745 basically a base model MK3 Fiesta. If it was a MK1 then maybe, but no way is this worth anything like 10 grand no matter how good the condition.
@@hughjass2745 if I went to a museum full of base model Fiestas I'd be bored out of my mind.
They have sold similar before for strong money, with more miles. This is un-repeatable and will only appeal to a set few, who want a specific thing. This is KGF's market.
Thank you for your comments!
Seriously anyone buying this car can't drive it because its too immaculate....To mint for it's vintage. Also its still a Ford from the era when they rusted & rusted especially around the rear wheel arch. I do love its basic simplicity by todays standards that is very appealing.
I had one as my first car. It rusted for fun. Sills were a nightmare and I stripped my front valance, treated it and resprayed and it rusted again! I can only assume Ford used the cheapest steel possible.
@@chinnyvision Exactly just rot like crazy. Curiously the mk 3 & 5 seem to rust more than the MK4. It's not until the mid 00's & the mk6 that Ford really got to grips with rust proofing. How many Mk1 KA's you see these days ? Virtually nil.
@@dtuk22 Rumour was Ford were buying cheap Russian steel of dubious quality.
@@dtuk22 And now I am remembering having to fork out to get the jacking points welded up for the MOT on a 5 year old car!
@@chinnyvision Yeah! Something was definitely not OK with the mk5's quality control. Mk4's did seem to hold up better and outlast the 5. MK4's are a rare beast on the roads too sadly.
Immaculate

I think being a base model makes it more interesting

How can it be only 422 miles? Incredible, really.
Sounds impossible indeed. Must have been transported from the factory to a dealership and from the dealership to someones garage and then kept there without ever driving it until KGF picked it up with the trailer.
@@supremefantastic exactly that, it's in the description, always old people who give up driving!

Where on earth do you keep finding these.

The previous owners find KGF.
They sell on commission
owners clubs, where i would go looking

not even a tape player
My friends dad bought one of these. When I was about 13 I remember a fart slipping out in the passenger seat and he told me I was the first
it probably helped it go faster

I thought the base model was called a 'popular'.
Pretty sure they dropped the Popular and Popular Plus badges a year or so after the Mk 3 launched. I learned to drive in a red one of these and it had the Popular sticker on the back.
@@peterbrownless it says in the description that they dropped them and just had this base model below the L. They came out in 89 and this is a 92, so they were probably around for a couple of years or so.
Yes the popular was drop later in the range!
I was waiting to see what this was going to come on for. 10 grand is a bit silly really.
They have sold similar before for strong money, with more miles. This is un-repeatable and will only appeal to a set few, who want a specific thing. This is KGF's market.
I thought it would be 9995! Finally got one right😊
@@m4xww what do you call similar and what do you call strong money? And how do you know what they sold for?
@@clivet3252 Low mileage base models. Obviously I don't know what they sell for but I don't think KGF are the type of business to reduce prices much. Especially when vehicles often sell quickly.
@@m4xww not everything sells quickly. I understand a base model might be more interesting than a mid range car and have a bit of value but 10 grand seems a lot. Like I said, a MK1 Fiesta might be worth that, but I don't see it with this model. They still have all the old videos up. I know they take the price off, but you can jog our memories and point out a similar car that was similar money. It just seems like the prices have been higher than usual on the last few cars. They've just sold that Type R. I think that was 10 and that was reasonable, but the Orion and the XJS and the Metro, and now this, seem overpriced.
What a beauty a new car for 10k you can’t get fairer than that ! It’s also so beautifully basic if anything did go wrong a chimp could fix it …nice job fellas looks great with the socks 😂
why are you talking like 10 grand is some sort of bargain?

Retro 90's immobilizer fitted to most cars in the day!
A four speed gearbox is a bit historic. Dont think its a motorway car.
I had this in the 1.0 and 0-60 was something like 20 seconds which made slip roads 'entertaining'. The thing also used to get buffeted something rotten by HGV's on the M3.
@@chinnyvision I remember driving a D reg 1.1poplar Escort up a very steep gradient. Think it was the same engine. It was so sluggish thought at one point I may have to ask the passengers to push it up the hill.
