Okay, small tip for people (Laith) struggling to find their pop needs: When you view the pops SoL you will see a percentage number indicating how many percentage points above or below the average expected expenditure these pops are. What you then need to focus on are the goods with the highest above average expenditure, not the overall largest expenditure. Pops will always spend the most overall on food but won't care about that if food is overall cheaper than expected.
There are time when pops don't spend the most money on food. At higher SoLs, their main expenditure is usually services. Of course this still doesn't generate nearly enough demand to actually make urban centres profitable.

A little suggestion I've got in regards to Victoria 3 is to try and play as Israel, which I've just been doing it myself and it's an interesting challenge. You start as Egypt, research Pan-nationalism (takes some 20-ish years though, depends) and then you'll be able to release Israel. Seems like not many people have really talked about it and I personally think it might be fun to see a TH-camr attempt it.

I just played a game as Korea and it was a lot of fun. You start pretty weak, but you have a big population and can capitalize off of the Qing market. Would recommend

The fastest but the least comprehensive is to hover over the Standard of Living number at the top and by hovering over a couple tooltips you can find out the overall demand as well as a breakdown by strata. The most comprehensive way is to go into the Population tab on the left side and then pick a pop to investigate (choose a larger pop as that will be more accurate) and it will tell you its top 5 consumption as well as under its Income and Expenses tooltips show you all of its expenses.

You have probably figured this out a long time ago. but if you click the population tab on the left, there is a drop down menu under each strata that shows what percentage of their money is being spent on each good. It's a lot easier than trying to figure it out for each job in each state.
heres a tip, if you’re making a formable with a weak nation, try to rush mass conscription. if you can get jt before 1880’s, you will prob have a numerical advantage (or itll just be more even) between you and even a major like prussia. i did it as galicia lodomeria and had 155 battalions in 2 states by 1875 sure they sucked, but it was numbers
One way to modernize super quickly is using corn laws journal. If you have a strong landlord IG, mercantilism and serfdom abolished you will have all requirements to start a chaint event! The only thing you have to do next is to go the trade tab and export focus policy. In less of five year it will pop up a modern conservativism event. If you choose the first option (the second is the game chooses to be the defoult) it will give you a market liberal leader to the landlords. The charecter leader's ideology overrides the IG ideology. So you can reform a very backwards country with some click and waiting a little.
You know that you can look at the % table under the % of goods beeing cheaper or expensive in the population tab... And it will provide you with information about on what do they spend their money and how many of the thing they need...
I know he was trying to keep the Armed Forces IG from dropping below +10, but if I'm being honest, it sort of killed me watching Laith just ignoring all those beneficial political movements.
