    I recently retired and I live in Florida so I took up golf. I only broke 100 one time and I do tend to lose balls. I started to buy these balls because I don’t feel as bad when I lose one like I did when I lost my favorite ball the Titlelist Soft Tour. I have a ball line marker so I make my Kirkland balls look a little nicer. “Greens and Fairways my friends!”

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems like a very reasonable excuse for gaming these golf balls. Having one of those markers is a godsend.

      Another good ball review you might like is the Wilson Zip or Duo. Also reasonably priced. And are great for beginners/ seniors.
      Also.. the Srixon Divide is a fantastic ball, especially when you are practicing around the greens for alignment and especially testing how the ball spins.

      Try the Cut Red. 24 of them for 20 bucks at Walmart and they're a really great ball for a higher handicap. I've been playing them over the winter and I love them. They give me good distance, travel pretty straight, and are overall good. I used to always shoot over 100 and I wish I had found the Cut Red when that was the case. Now I'm down to the 80s and 90s but still enjoy the simplicity of a round with them. And at under $2 a ball you don't get upset when you lose one.

    I’ve used this ball for a couple of years now and your findings pretty much reflect what I’ve experienced. I play 100+ rounds a year in the limited golf season we have here (Canada), and my swing speed is 105 MPH (based on a recent driver fitting). I play as a 8 handicap. My buddies give me a hard time for playing such a “cheap” ball, but I’m getting cheap in my old age (I’m 61) and find these to be a great value. No, they are not as long off the tee as a tour ball (I’m probably giving up 10 yards), but I can deal with that. The biggest adjustment for me was how much my full wedge shots made the ball balloon high into the air (I naturally hit a high ball anyway) and come up shorter than expected because of the very high spin. I’ve compensated for this by learning to hit a lower trajectory shot. I’m impressed with the overall feel of the ball and will likely be playing them again this season.

    So since I was one of those who requested this review, (and TY for listening to your subscribers!) I did pick up 24 and took them on a golf junket last week. First: Spot on with the spin factor assessment. I was sucking gap wedges back 10-15 feet which is such a cool look but I had to adjust to it when figuring my distances The one hop and drop shot was deadly and looked PGA quality! (I'm no pro believe me) Second: Absolutely lost distance on every club including my 46 PW ... Gap, 56 & 60 seemed unaffected. 10 yards off my normal driver distance was really disappointing. After two days of Kirkland testing I switched back to my Sugar ball (my go-to) and while spin was lower my yardage was back. Third: I did however see a very real durability issue. Shots from the sand and tee shots with my 3 & 4 Cobra Utilities left visible marks on the ball and after 5-6 holes (if no losses) I was deeming them unplayable. Surprised you did not see that and wonder if other subs may have experienced this issue. A buck a ball is crazy cheap though but for $2.50 per I'll stick with my Sugars. Anxious to hear other opinions

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much for your insight on this. To be honest I didn't test it in sand, so that does make sense that you might have had an issue like that. Sand really tears up a golf ball quick.
      I love the sugar golf balls well. I can't wait to try their new g pure golf balls.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The price point makes it an honest no brainer. If the price point was high or to be honest I probably wouldn't have recommended the golf ball just because I lost distance. But when you're only talking about a few yards of distance and a fourth of the price, the few yards seems to go away

  • @jbh199
    @jbh199 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As a senior golfer with a 70mph driver club head speed,the difference between the longest and shortest ball is lessyhan 5 yards. Having to play longer clubs into greens stopping power is much more important. These balls do what they are supposed to. For those that are curious, the longest ball for my clubbed speed was Titleist PRO v 1x left dash.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely is consistent, I'll give it that. The quality definitely does seem high. It's definitely not the firmest golf ball I've ever played, but I think with other golf balls like Wilson and Callaway doing 30 compression golf balls, golf balls like this will feel firmer in today's market. 20 years ago this would have been the softest golf ball in the market by far, but some of these now are so squishy it's like hitting a foam or rubber ball.

    With this ball I found I have to use a extra putter I have without an insert on the face of it to get it to the hole. My regular putter has a soft insert that works fine with a firmer two piece ball. Over all this is a good ball and I like it, I use it most of the year, only going to different ball when the greens are slow.

    I play these once in a while. I’ve found so many on the course that I keep it in my bag as a throw away ball, but I play it well enough that I don’t mind teeing off with it. Driver performance for me is fair but when it comes to the irons this thing shines for me. Very high spinning and launching which is great for me in the summer time because I need stopping power on the greens. If I could drive it better I would play it more often. Iron play is comparable to the Vice Pro Soft for me but since I’m much better with the Vice off the tee I stick with it.

    • @GolfBallAddict

    My current gamers (Because I got good deals on them) are the TP5 and Maxfli Tour (2021). I always have one or two double dozens of the Ksig V2 in my "stash" (I have a golf ball buying problem). I'm a 14 hcp with a driver SS of 92-96 depending on how my 56 yr. old knees feel that day. For some reason I get the ball lofted nicely off the driver and get about 220-235 carry on it. with average being 220-225. I do feel that I do lose just a little distance but I really like the way the ball plays. I live on Long Island, NY and play on a lot of golf courses around the coast with a lot of water and marshy hazards. On days when I don't have my best stuff I game the Kirkland. At Bethpage where there are a lot of woods to lose balls, and being longer, if I'm losing balls I game the Kirkland and don't see any real differences in score. I've been playing different balls from round to round for so many years it's just 2nd nature to make club adjustments to the ball.

      Awesome insight. Honestly I feel like we share a lot of things in common. You have done an excellent job of finding golf balls that fit your game depending on the course you're playing and the conditions you're playing them in. I give you kudos for that. If you can get a good deal on the TP5 or Max fly tour, both those golf balls are phenomenal. Great job.

    I'm glad to finally have your insight into the ball. I'm also surprised to see how well it did on everything but the driver. I have experienced it not going as far off the tee as pretty much anything else, but then I'm not a very good golfer, so it doesn't amount to much. But now it makes sense why it goes further than I anticipate with any other club. However, I'm glad it's short on the green because I have been known to burn across any green.
    Also, as much as I'd like to see something different from the logo, I really enjoy the brazen attitude Costco has had with their golf equipment. It's like an underdog that's proud of where it comes from and it can, in its own right, compete with the upper class enough that people can't help but be impressed.

    Add your own putting line mark...and do some speed drills to get that club head speed up. I feel like at those speeds a skinny 2 piece ball is better served. My ball speed on u iron is 130 and I use the last version. If I lost anything it's a few yds on good drives...going to try new version out soon

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't stand permanent marker on a ball. Makes it look bad and it usually rubs off on my clubs.
      I don't have any desire to increase my swing speed. I'm shooting in the mid '70s and my channel is based around the average swing speed which is 92 mph. So I'm right in sweet spot of where I want to be. Don't get me wrong, it would be cool to have a longer drive, but even my drives on the course are an extremely smooth easy swing. I'm not swinging out of my shoes. My fairway percentage is around 80% and I like to keep it that way. So I'll always swing pretty easy.
      I'm not saying you were this way, you could be an awesome golfer and if you are that's awesome. But so many people get on my channel and tell me to increase my swing speed and they're the type of guys that are shooting 106 with 115 mph swing speed. So honestly it's white noise at this point.
      I really appreciate you watching the video and your feedback. Hope you have a blessed day.

    Nick, I launch the driver at 18 which I need to work on, but if I didn't play the Vice Pro Plus I would play the Kirkland V2. They are much more durable than the V1. Vice is better for me than either the Pro V1 or V1x. I get them personalized for $28.99. I think the Pro Plus is the best golf ball in general and no doubt for me.

    • @GolfBallAddict

  • @Paul-lm5gv
    @Paul-lm5gv ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Was developed to be a knock off of the Titleist Pro V1. It has a higher compression of 90 which may not suit golfers with a slower swing speed. I'm in my mid 70's and used this ball for awhile until I realized a lower compression ball went FURTHER with my swing! It felt good off the driver but I couldn't give up 10-15 yards!

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which is a shame because it really shouldn't be. Any golfer with half a brain will realize that a golf ball at 1/4 of the price isn't going to hold up or be comparable. You are correct though. Getting a good modest swing golf ball increases not only your distance, but your spin and forgiveness as well. I'm glad you realize that. Also spoiler alert, wait till I review the new Kirkland V3. It's way way way way firmer than the V2

I never noticed any issues with them but I heard other people have them and never rebought any. I may have to give them another try especially since they updated them. How would you compare them to the Cut Dc besides ones a 3 and the other a 4 piece?

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say the cut DC is actually a very good comparison for this ball. Very spinny, little bit of squish, little bit of firm. I got a lot better driver numbers with the cut DC. But all of the rest of the numbers were pretty close. I feel like the cut DC has a slight advantage also because of its design. Love their alignment tool in the golf ball looks cool and feels premium.

    Question, does your swing effect the driver distance. I ask because my swing speed is 112-116 and i average 285+ yards with driver. I use to play pro v and the distance is the same. However, I notice less spin on green. I can stop the kirkland, however the pro v is eaiser to control stop and spin back.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100%. Every swing speed has a certain attack angle and launch angle that is optimized for distance. It's very common that if you're getting too high or too low of a launch you won't see a distance increase.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, I agree. If you're swinging the club that fast then the pro v will spin a lot more.

    If my clubhead speed on my driver is closer to 110mph, do you think I'd have more launch success? I am wildly inconsistent with direction and lose a few too many balls so I need something cheap. However, I've got some real skill inside of 65, but the cheap balls struggle to stick or spin back. So, I'm wondering if this is the right direction for me. They're just so ugly.

    • @GolfBallAddict

      I seem to remember that a few years back Titleist took Costco to court over their original ball which they claimed was a patent infringement. If that happened then Titleist knew the Kirkland ball was a Pro V1 killer. I kind of like playing a quality ball at a fraction of the price of the market leader.Snell is another quality ball in line with Titleist but more expensive than Kirkland. Think you are missing the point of the logo? Its a supermarket golf ball, so has the supermarket logo. Golf is a tiny bit of the Costco business. I've played them for a few years now and perform as well as anything. In the uk, they cost £30 for 2 dozen. Tp5/Pro v1 are £40-£50 per dozen. Unless you are a low single figure golfer, its a no brainer. Kirkland all day

      Think how many Kirkland signature balls get lost then found by someone else. Free advertising for the bigger business. Its all about personal preference, i don't mind the logo, you're not a fan. Its all good. Its more important that its cheap and plays well, especially in the current climate where everything has become expensive. Keep testing, always interested in your thoughts

    Did you test this ball on multiple days with the driver you cannot go off just one day

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Multiple days? No I definitely did not. I test a golf ball every other day and it's hard enough to keep up with that. You can tell pretty easy how the golf ball is reacting based on the swing caddy numbers. Measuring swing speed versus smash Factor resulting in distance gained. Spin also has a factor. I don't see any reason whatsoever to test a golf ball multiple days. As long as the weather is at least 75°then it's fine.

    If the alignment looks that bad get a sharpy and draw your own. Good ball for the cost and a sharpy costs one dollar. Keep it simple.

    • @GolfBallAddict

      A sharpie can be a decent alternative. I'm not a super big fan because then the sharpie gets on my clubs and makes it harder to clean.

      @@GolfBallAddict I have to agree with your comment. I have used Kirkland and to be fair they are good for say a mid handicapper. But in any case I use the bridgestone tour BXS. Have you done a review on those?

      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have! If you go to my channel and just search Bridgestone, they should come up. I've actually tested every Bridgestone ball. Had some good results in that under 105 mile per hour line

      Yeah. I still give Costco some credit, they are attempting to enter a market where companies for over 100 years have been involved. It's going to take some time. I feel like they are on the right path though. If they can keep a price point anywhere near what it is right now and improve the ball just a tad more, it will be a serious contender.

    I really like these balls. Titlist and TaylorMade spend hundreds of millions of dollars on endorsements and advertising. You pay for that when you buy their balls. Obviously Costco has none of that and pass the savings on to you.

      Those blasphemous opinions are shunned here my friend.
      Actually all jokes aside, what is it about them that you don't like? Is it just the more obnoxious ones like the 360 or the triple track? Or do you find any of them even if they're just a thick black bar annoying?

      @@GolfBallAddictseveral years back I watched a review of balls that immersed in salt water to determine if the core was entered in the ball. Lower quality balls have a higher percentage of balls in a box of a dozen with off centre cores compared to higher priced ones with better quality control. The offset centre floated at the bottom indicating where the putt line should be placed. Interesting article that noted that tour pros are supplied with their balls and each ball is checked prior their use. Only the best for the best, off the shelf is for everyone else. Tour pros don’t go to Costco or Walmart for their equipment!🥴

    If you’re that worried about the logo than you’re focused on the wrong aspect. Looks/sounds like you came into the review with your mind made up. 👎

      Every golf ball that I review goes through multiple categories of testing. These include:
      Design
      Value
      Performance
      Durability
      This categories get broken down and finer details, however that's the criteria for every golf ball review.
      I respect your opinion brother, but the reality is I've had more hate on reviewing the Kirkland golf balls than any other ball. I get it, I know everyone wants the golf ball to be really good because it's such an amazing price. But the reality is, with the V2 I lost massive distance on the driver. It also spun way too much. The V3 was even worse.
      My advice is honestly check out my top 10 rankings on the golf balls. There you will find mini golf balls that are actually cheaper than the Kirkland that perform 100 times better. It will help shave some more strokes off your game.
      Thank you for the feedback and have a wonderful day :-)

    I’m not a ball snob and price is one of my priorities in buying golf balls. The other is performance and it seems that you can have a quality ball with high end characteristics of the top of line Titleist balls at a fraction of the price is great. I have been playing Kirkland V2 since it appeared at Costco and find them satisfactory for my level of play, only breaking 100 occasionally. I do find criticisms of logo design and print quality a bit petty since it has no bearing on the ball’s performance. JMHO.👍🇨🇦👨‍🦳

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand if you're used to playing one ball, and are just looking for the best price, the Kirkland is an amazing value. However you got to understand from my point of view, I'm reviewing hundreds of golf balls. I have to review the logo. Sometimes you have two golf balls that are going to perform extremely well, and if one golf balls designed better than the other, and has a better alignment tool, it will give it an edge

      @@GolfBallAddict I think that most of your subscribers watching this review really don’t care about a logo. By the time they mark their ball with a marker and emphasize the putter line they have basically defaced the ball. I find that the low handicap golfer is more concerned about looks and their preference is for a higher grade/priced all. Some feel they just can’t play without the ball their favourite tour pro promotes. We know pros play only the balls screened for them or those they are paid to play with. A lot of it is marketing and golfers fall for it.
